KERRY COUNTY BOARD FUND RAISING EVENTS

Playing in the All-Ireland Final costs a lot of money and in order to raise funds there will be a number of official fund-raising events organised by Kerry County Board prior to the All-Ireland Final and also in Dublin during the All-Ireland weekend.

We are appealing to our clubs and supporters to give their full backing and support to the official fund-raising events that have been organised by Kerry County Board leading up to the final.

Supporters are also requested to be alert to some unofficial fund raising ventures that are already in operation. These are not endorsed or supported by Kerry County Board and the funds raised are solely for commercial profit.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The Annual Church Gate Collection in aid of the Kerry Team Training Fund will take place next weekend, September 8th & 9th. Every club in the county is urged to make a great effort this year especially now that we are in the All-Ireland Final.

FUNDRAISING BANQUET

A fund raising banquet in aid of the Senior Team training fund will be held at The Brandon Hotel, Tralee on Saturday September 8th. A table of ten costs €1,500 and will include two stand tickets. Enquiries for booking tables should be made to County Committee officers, Patrick O’Sullivan, Mike McCarthy, Bernie Reen, John Joe O’Carroll, or the County Board Office (066) 71 22061. Advance Booking is advisable.

PLAYERS HOLIDAY FUND

The Kerry Senior Football players will be presented with a Toyota Car as All-Ireland Finalists. Tickets for the car raffle are €10 and they will be on sale leading up to the All-Ireland Final. All the proceeds are going towards the Players Holiday Fund.

Thousands of Kerry people are prepared to spend quite a lot of money during the All-Ireland Final weekend in Dublin so we are asking those in particular to support the Players Holiday Fund by purchasing a €10 raffle ticket with their All-Ireland Final Ticket.

The distribution of All-Ireland Final tickets will be tied in with the Car Raffle. It is a very small extra donation when compared to the other costs that people will incur. We are asking our supporters to show a small appreciation for the players who made it all possible.

Tickets are available from Club Secretaries and County Committee Officers.

Tickets can also be bought by sending your Name, Address & Phone Number together with Cheque or Postal Order to cover the cost of ticket(s) to: - Éamon O’Sullivan, Rúnaí, P.O. Box 125, The Pavilion, Austin Stack Park, Tralee, Co. Kerry.

The Players Holiday Fund deserves to be supported especially by those of us who have got such enjoyment from their performances during the year. This is team’s fourth successive appearance in the All-Ireland Final and this is a tribute to their dedication and to their undoubted football talent.

There was some negative comments made about All-Ireland Final tickets being tied in with the Car Raffle last year but they were very much in the minority and the venture received full backing from the vast majority of Kerry Supporters.

DRAW FOR ALL-IRELAND TICKETS

The Kerry GAA Supporters Club are organising a raffle for 10 pairs of Stand Tickets for the All-Ireland Finals. The cost is €5 a line and each card had 20 lines. Cards have been distributed throughout the county and the Kerry Association in Dublin. All the proceeds go to the Kerry Senior Team training fund.

DUBLIN GOLF CLASSIC

Luke and Yvonne Moriarty are organising a Golf Classic at City West, Dublin on Friday September 14th. There will be two stand tickets for each entry. The proceeds of the Golf Classic will go to the Kerry Senior Team Training Fund. ALL-IRELAND WEEKEND EVENTS IN DUBLIN

Live music and Disco will be at City West Hotel, Dublin on the Sunday of the All-Ireland Final weekend. Admission is €20. Tickets will be available in Dublin from Kerry Association members and at the Kerry County Board Office during the week leading up to the final.

Arrangements can be made for overnight accommodation at the hotel and a return shuttle bus service will be available from the hotel before and after the game.

The one great benefit is that they serve until sunrise!! I've been at a few All Ireland celebration functions there and they're usually mad.

What is the setup like out there abu?? Jurys was a joke last year for drink and crowd management.
Is the service decent? Can they handle a crowd of very thirsty kerrymen?!
Do you get to see and HEAR The Sunday Game?! ....an essential part of any post match gathering!

Now, I was there for sit down All Ireland celebrations - everybody had dinner and all that jazz. The Kerry county board do it differently to every team celebration I've been at - the team have a private reception upstairs in whatever hotel they are in and the public have a big open room, screenings of the Sunday Game etc downstairs. Now, you'll hear it alright, but you can't expect the hotel to shut up Barney from Firies who's roaring away about the 1968 county junior final.

So, on that basis, the Citywest venue downstairs is absolutely huge and will cope with as many people as Jurys ever would.

The bar is big enough and they are well used to coping with people roaring for drink and you won't be waiting as long. That's when there's a sit down. For standing events, they cope very well too - after the All Ireland events and other GAA events I've been at, everybody goes to the bar anyway after the sit down (the bar is in a different room and is nice and large).

The one problem I've ever seen is the queue that can build at the door - the county board will need some good lads and lassies who won't allow for pushing or barging at the door.

Billy will love all this talk of all-ireland celebrations,remember its perfectly poised for billy to ride off into the distant horizon,with his silver hair sparling in the autumn sunset as the chilling air varpourises his breath steam like from his open basking shark like mouth with a smile as wide as the river lee. Caution is a sign that regularily appears on dangerous stretches of dangerous roads.......,one proceeds with care with hightened attention to small detail in such periless situations.

Open day this Friday from 5.30 to 7.30.

Report in the Kerryman today states that the 4 all irelands in a row has stretched the county board coffers to the limit. I think the tight-ass members of this forum who last year complained about having to buy the €10 raffle ticket with their all ireland final tickets got a bit of a mention by the County Board!! Although to be fair it wasnt just confined this this platform, there were people (could have been the same people!) on Radio Kerry last year giving out about it too!

My understanding of it is basically if a club gets say 80 all ireland tickets, then they must also purchase 80 raffle tickets. The club then pass on the raffle ticket to members of the club who purchase a match ticket - so for this years final you get your stand ticket and raffle ticket for €80 or your terrace ticket and raffle ticket for €45.

Spot on Buck 02...was the same last year...its an addition top up cost on top of your ticket....dont think its optional if you buy your ticket through a club...its a small price to pay in order to fund the continued success of our team....if you want to be the best, treating your players the best goes a long way towards achieving that goal

excuse my ignorance, but how do I get some raffle tickets. I wont be getting my ticket through the county board but would be interested in contributing anyway.

However i do not agree with making people buy a raffle ticket if they are getting a match ticket. (they should be happy to buy one anyway )
