How many south Kerry players are on the panel? county champions 3 years in a row with a team that would beat most county teams. 2 players on the team and two more on the panel.. That doesnt seem like a lot to me. I know a few players did opt out this year. Adrian Connell would be a handy man in teh panel given the lack of strength in depth in the backs this yer.

Quality of north kerry football went down a bit few years ago, but its on the way up again, alot of the teams concentrating on co.league instead of waiting for north kerry championship, look @ beale & tarbert over the last few years, moving up the leagues & Duagh impressive run in the junior championship.
Amazing to see how few south kerry players on panel, especially after 3 in a row.
Is colin mahony still training with kerry, heard quirke was training with them recently

Without being patronising, there's a huge jump from the junior championship to senior inter county football. I know they don't compete in the N.K championship, but is Ardfert not still in North Kerry. If Brendan Flaherty put his mind to it he is good enough to make the panel and John Egan is seriously talented. Eamon Ferris was there or thereabouts in 1997 but I think he was overlooked for political reasons and he is obviously too old now. Stephen Wallace proved himself with the Kerry Juniors but he is well past it also.

lad there from the emmetts also Jer McCarty. I watched him play with Feale Rangers. He is a back I believe. He is very good fast and good read of a ball. Also not just cause he is form Tarbert but Shane Enright is a up and coming. He should make the call up at least for training next year. Very strong and a solid player

the lack of north kerry players is IMO down to the lack of a north kerry selector. when was the last north kerry man to be involved in the backroom??

Why did Brendan Guiney opt of the panel? Surely he is still young/good enough?

the lack of north kerry players is IMO down to the lack of a north kerry selector. when was the last north kerry man to be involved in the backroom?? There was a south kerry selector involved with the minors yet not one single person from the south kerry area

alot of the talented good footballers in NK are young so in a couple of years there will be a few players like, enright-tarbert mahony-ballydon, king-beale, on the panel.

With who?
Last week people were calling for Mossy Lyons to be on the first team.
Daniel Bohane was in there last year under Jack O'Connor and was supposed to have been excellent. I haven't seen much of him at club level to be honest but any player who makes that panel is there on merit and has proven himself in Training and in Challenges. Bohane has done it under two management teams.
Donncha Walsh has had to prove himself to lots of people, myself inclded and I've gotten stick for what I've said of him on here - I always rated him as a footballer but not at this level - well he proved himself in the National League and as Joan will testify was excellent in NY last year and has been playing very well for Mid Kerry.
I'm sure the likes of Shane Enright will get their chance in the future but there are also the likes of Colin O'Mahoney, Daniel Doyle and Michael Maloney who will be knocking on the door and these fellas will all have to prove themselves as it is a massive step up.

thats a good point aswell, they must be doin something good to stay in under two management teams, but hopefully the NK lads will be knocking soon enough

Dave Geaney would hardly be counted as a north kerry man in fairness.id doubt if he could name some of the up a coming players from the likes of Beale,Ballydonoghue,Tarbert,Ballylongford etc.
