i felt the day after the all-ireland last year v tyrone that kerry had a great chance of winning in '06 if they got their selections right, trusted the players and played attacking kerry football. you would wonder if the motivation to beat tyrone is a real issue for the players seeing that the management and two of the players are gone, maybe its not a prioity for them as a group. time will tell i suppose,i'd still fancy them to be knocking on the door bigtime come august and september '07 though.

I was gutted when Jack left. What a record.

It seems to me that a few more players might retire before next year??? Surely this will affect the new managers decision???

It looks to be Pat O'Shea alright! It's probably a year too soon for John Kennedy. Heard great things about him though and wil probable get his chance down the road!As regards players I think there's enough young players there to fill the vacancies. 2 in a rows a real possiblity because with a new management players will be on their toes and fighting for places. Usually a new man brings a buzz to things.

Pat O'Shea had the job until the Munster Council kicked up a stink. Still reckon they will sort it out and he will get the nod. If the Munster council stick to their guns what are the odds on Pat becoming a co. board 'schools coach' and becoing the first professional coach in the country!!! My father will spit out the spuds in temper when i run this by him!!

i've watched pat play basketball and football,he was a hugely inteligent player in both codes and very attack minded in his style and full of cuteness.
i think he might be a good appointment for kerry,if he got his forward line moving to the optimum i think kerry would be very hard to live with next year, especially if they build the forwards around kieran and colm on the full forward line. its likely he would get the best out of colm and brosnan.
he made a comment during kerrys bad spell during the munster championship that the defensive game plan was going against the grain of kerrys natural game.
i'd be interested to see what he might bring to the kerry team.

Kerry set to fill football post
Thursday, November 9
Kerry chiefs could name Jack O’Connor’s successor as senior football manager with the next fortnight.
Pat O’Shea is believed to be the county board’s number one choice to fill the post but any appointment will have to wait until after O’Shea manages Dr Croke’s in Sunday’s Kerry SFC final.
Kingdom chairman Sean Treacy has revealed that the board may need to call an emergency meeting to ratify the new manager as no more gatherings have been scheduled until the county convention on December 11th.
If O’Shea was handed the reins it is understood that he would name Donal Daly as his number two.
A three-man committee was set up to eek out a new man on Tuesday night. It will consist of Treacy, secretary Eamonn O’Sullivan and treasurer JJ O’Carroll.
