Your prediction from a few weeks ago for the Ballyduff game had me intrigued, given Ballylongford haven't been too competitive for a good few years now against the big guns of the NKC. You weren't confusing them for Ballydonoghue by any chance?

Listowel 4-9. Tarbert 0-5. HT 1-8 0-2
The scoreline tells the full story . Tarbert were outclassed and never approached the levels they achieved against Duagh. They were missing a few from that night especially ace forward. Cillian Langan. Listowel got the first few points and when Eddie Healy goaled it looked ominous for Tarbert. The game was decided by half time.
Listowel got three further goals in the second half via Eddie Healy ,again , Sam Tarrant.and Adam O’Rourke. They dominated midfield through Jo Jo Grimes and Eddie Healy.
Rain fell all through the match. Mike Hennessy had an easy task , apart from one minor flare up.

Tarbert were very disappointing today and really, it could have been a lot worse for them in the second half if Listowel had been so minded. Good crowd out today. Duagh up next for Emmets, they had a comfortable win over Finuge in the end.

Massive win for Ballyduff. They were without Jack O'Sullivan but had Jack Goulding home from London. Paud Costello came on too so they're making a big push this year by the looks of it.
Jason Foley played for Ballydonoghue.

Nailed that prediction in fairness. Respect, in retrospect. No, ballyduff aren't bad, they've had a good influx of youth in the last three years - I like what they're about they're minors are in a c'ship semi final tomorrow against a highly fancied Tarbert/Bally combination. They will be a force over the next few years...whereas Ballydonoghue have stagnated with nothing coming through, they couldn't field at minor level this year and have nothing coming through.. still in all, I fancied Duagh from the off even before their Club County win... nothing I've seen has changed my mind.. I think they will beat a fancied Listowel tomorrow..

Jack doesn't want players playing local championship, due to fatigue, yet he played the likes of Seanie Shea in the Mcgrath cup, and brought the Clifford's on above in Monaghan , it's wrong in my opinion a very valid point, use plenty of players in the league and no one will be flogged bringing the Cliffords back so soon last year smacked of panic the last 2 all irelands have been won out of division 2 of the national league and we break into a panic re losing a few matches in division 1. You had better be be careful what you say about Whacko Jacko around here - I got an right earful from a buck myself!

Beaten out the gate today by a similar margin to Tarbert. This Listowel team are looking like the best outfit to come from North Kerry in a while

They absolutely battered Duagh today and on that display, it's hard to see any team beating them. Considering the size of Listowel it's about time their plans are coming to fruition. I naively fancied Duagh today but boy was I well off the mark. Looking like a Listowel Desmonds final.

Listowel 4-12 Duagh 0-9. HT 2-9 0-5
A perfect afternoon for football. At least a perfect afternoon for Listowel to suggest that it will take a hot team to beat them in the semifinal. Duagh were just a shadow of the team who won the county junior title but the principal reason for that was the quality of the opposition. A huge chasm in standards which was a disappointment for the huge crowd present.
It did not take long for the pattern to unfold. Listowel were faster, stronger , more determined and ,above all , they had superior players in most positions. Points flowed over, particularly from the outstanding Cormac Mulvihill, four in all, and when Adam O’Rourke . nominally at corner forward but an ever present nuisance all over the pitch , scored their first goal one sensed there would be only one outcome even at that early stage. Eddie Healy created and scored their second although that was scarcely needed to determine the outcome. Listowel were on top at midfield with the result that Cormac Dillon , Duagh’s only scoring threat , was starved . And when he did get ball he was mobbed immediately as Listowel realized he was the danger. Duagh did manage to release one shot which seemed destined for the net but Jack Enright got down in a flash to make a great save. However, such was Listowel’s dominance it would have mattered little to the overall situation.
There was no significant alteration in matters in the second half as Listowel continued to exert control. Adam O’Rourke cut In from the left corner and was capsized. Jo Jo Grimes nonchalantly converted the penalty. A lively Sam Tarrant got Listowel’s fourth goal. Superfluous to requirements! Cormac Dillon nearly caught out the Listowel goalie with a wicked shot from an acute angle but again Jack Enright responded with alacrity. Cormac kicked six from frees, a few gargantuan ones , and one from play.. It is always a shame when a prodigious talent is not properly supplied. It is a harsh old world out there!
It is invidious to single out any Listowel player such was the balanced contribution from most members of the team. I will single out one player who always impresses me in an unspectacular, understated way and that is Sean Keane on the forty . As against Tarbert , this skillful footballer seems to be a clever conductor in most of Listowel’s more productive attacks,
Duagh will no doubt be very disappointed but the brutal truth is that they were outclassed. However, when the initial heartbreak dissipates they can reflect on their junior county title and in 2025 build from there, That is a good foundation.
Referee was unnecessarily fussy , to a level of irritation.
With the onset of the dark evenings, these matches will need to start at 2pm. in future.

Agree that the Ballyduff boys are the one team that can pull off the ambush but anyone in Moyvane left yesterday shaking theirs heads in half awe, Listowel were just that good... but if they are to be caught, a semi final is the place to do it... funnily enough everyone is talking about Listowel and Ballyduff but no one is talking about Desmonds.. very much sneaking in under the radar will account for Moyvane easily in my opinion as Knocknagoshel were so depleted that several players donned the club colours just to fulfill the fixture.. Castleisland will be in the final, a week earlier fresher and half untested... don't rule them out even if Listowel will be overwhelming favourites

You had better be be careful what you say about Whacko Jacko around here - I got an right earful from a buck myself! Criticism of Jack O Connor is fair but can you please stop referring to him as if you were a downmarket British tabloid? My advice to you is to focus on the issue, not the individual; FYI my writing style lightens it, BTW which British tabloid was ever upmarket? Ah lave us poor hoors alone, haven't we enough to be dalin' with after the Duffers at the weekend! And a great report by our auld Vet - the wan thing I keep telling him is that his choice of the bigger word discredits him; such is a practice of empty vessels trying to cover up what they haven't got! Vets reading of the game is noble, MOM and Houlihan are rightly proud, turn of phrase is neat but teh big word interrupts the flow Vet as some of us ahve to to look up our Oxford Dictionaries?

The Duffers always produce players who are tough as nails from playing the hurling so they will give Listowel plenty of it until the final whistle and have young legs with plenty of football. But you’d have to fancy Listowel if they play the same brand of football they played v Duagh. It showed be a good match if the weather holds up.
