ISK Killorglin were close enough to Mallow with 10 minutes left too, but Mallow pulled well clear then. A good day for the Kerry schools

Watched The Sem on clubber, they won 3-4 to 0-4 but looked weak and would be surprised if they are at the business end

Great news for Kerry hurling with the green in Harty cup. Yes but they really do but nothing to help promote hurling in an up and coming Harty cup school such as the Green. They put the Green in with two of the best teams in the Harty cup Flannans and Thurles in a group of 3 and Tralee are away to both of them. Looking at the other groups of 4 teams I would of fancied Tralee to beat some of them schools from Waterford and Cork. Anyway, it is what it is.

I believe it's an open draw for the groups in both the Harty cup and corn ui mhuiri.
So just luck of the draw that the Green ended up in a 3 team group with 2 powerhouses.

The Green put in a decent showing in their first Harty Cup game. Seemed to be in the game for a long time until Thurles pulled away.

The Green put in a decent showing in their first Harty Cup game. Seemed to be in the game for a long time until Thurles pulled away. They did and they couldn’t of got a tougher group. Thurles CBS have won the Harty cup 8 times and their next opponents St. Flannans have won the Harty cup 22 times. Fantastic work is going into Tralee CBS hurling development by Daithi Griffin, Mark Ryall and a few others teachers. This will really help the development of our Kerry hurlers in the 16-18 year old bracket, hurling against the best schools in Munster. They surely won’t get a tougher group next year so this year is just about competing. Causeway comprehensive seem to have fallen off the schools hurling cliff altogether which is a pity because if you had Tralee CBS & Causeway Comp both hurling at a high level it would be fantastic. Btw, Liam Og O Connor from Ardfert scored 2-9 out of their 2-12 total v Thurles CBS, that is some scoring.

Not everyone from North Kerry would have gone to school in Causeway so a lot would have missed out on school hurling. Particularly a lot from the likes of Ardfert, Crotta and Abbeydorney would have gone to school in Tralee. Causeway have been falling behind for a while now. From being one of the top Vocational schools teams back in the day.

Ballybunion is an interesting one. I think they played in some grade last year as well. Although they must mostly have lads from Ballyduff I'd imagine. Kenmare have a team in some of the junior championships as well. Also St. Michael's Listowel had a team last year at U16 I think.

There is a full round of Corn ui mhuiri tomorrow...What is the news on the kerry schools? Anyone travelling to Milltown for the Green v Milltown? The Green have most of last year's group still available from the final last year. Milltown took an awful hiding from ISK in the O Sullivan shield. This looks like a real mismatch.

The Green took a very heavy beating yesterday. Although they were always going to be up against it losses like that doesn't help anyone.

Make no mistake about it this was a brilliant win by the Green U17.
The game played in very wet conditions finished level at normal time. Two evenly matched teams, with both sets of backs outstanding, battled it out in a tense game.
The score at HT was 2 pts each. Blackwater had just got out in front nearing the finish line but were lucky not to concede a goal when the Green half forward was through on goal and was unceremoniously stopped in his tracks by what looked like a dangerous and high tackle. Blackwater escaped with a yellow card and the Green scored a point from the resultant free to level it up.
Full time normal time 7pts each
Backwater started extra time on top and fired over 2 points before the Green responded with a point of their own leaving the half time score at extra time 0-09 0-08 to Blackwater.
From the final throw-in the Green gained possession and ran straight down the middle of the Blackwater defence scoring a wonderful point to level it up again. Inspired by that score and with Blackwater tiring the Green men stuck their chests out and employing a more direct running game hit three wonderful scores to leave three points between the teams for the first time.
There was no way back for Blackwater who could only respond with a late point. The Green’s strong and determined finish in what was a highly competitive and close game was impressive.
Final score after extra time Tralee CBS 0-12 Blackwater CS 0-10
Great credit is due to this Tralee CBS team and their mentors. They are making history for the school after winning the Limerick A post primary schools cup a couple of years ago. The same team are now in a historic Munster final the Corn Shéamais Uí Dhonnchú.
