ya the Sending off of Monahan is the biggest worry of the night. a simple magnificent player and underage at least one more year (if not 2??) Shine was also a shining light. some valid points raised here, Clare will have tested us alot more than Limerick but Cork will be raging hot favourites surely. You can be sure if that was any other county, Monahan's red card would be successfully overturned on appeal. Having Seán Walsh as a selector might help in the appeals process.

Winning having played poorly is always a bonus and is better than losing an epic - the belief is these lads have more in them and hopefully the win will stand to them for next week. Monaghan's red was justified unfortunately and talk of appealing it is probably wide of the mark. The work for management in the coming days is to get the team prepared mentally for the challenge ahead and play their game with intelligence.

You couldn't get a more stone wall red card than Diarmuid Connolly v Donegal in 2011 and that was overturned.

Hope Paudie O'Leary is ok. He would also be a loss. What changes should be made?

Monohan is under 20 again in 2024 and 2025! Kilmoyley can produce footballers as well as hurlers Are you sure? He played minor in 21 but not in 22 (unless injured). If he was overage for minor in 22 then he has only one more year at u20. A great talent though! apologies, you are correct

As plenty people have said above, we were very lucky to get out of this one with a win on Monday. The forward line was decent I thought but apart from that you couldn't be happy with how the rest of the team functioned. I have plenty reservations about the management but will reserve judgement for further down the line.
Cork are not stellar this year according to some informed sources but if we don't improve drastically I think we will struggle to win next Monday down there. You could take the view that we'll have learned a lot and Cork had a stroll against Limerick. We'll see how that pans out.
Rob Monahan is a huge loss as he showed his quality in the Clare game. I do think we have the scoring power to trouble Cork but we need to gain parity at midfield at least and we cannot be as bad defensively or we will leak more goals. Speaking of, I think we may need to score a couple of goals ourselves to get out with a win. These games have a habit of being tight affairs so it's all down to the work both camps do after Monday and how they perform in 5 days time.

We have been so disappointing at this level and gave had such great talent. I know we could nt use Seanie Ó Shea and David Clifford a few years back but 2008 since we won it is poor. Whatever about this grade is crazy. I recall a Kerry team (one of our most talented teams ever at under 21 getting destroyed by Cork by 22 points. The team included Brian Kelly in goals. In defense Peter Crowley Mark Griffin Jack Sherwood Jonayhin Lyne and a forward line of Stephen Ó Brien Dáithí Casey Alan Fitzgerald Barry John Keane Paul Geaney and James Ó Donoghue. One of our best on paper and our worst defeat. Or a team with Gooch, Declan O'Sullivan, Kieran Donaghy, Declan Quill, Seamus Scanlon, Paddy Kelly and Bryan Sheehan losing to Waterford.

I watched the game last night and agree with a lot that has been said here. I do think though the lack of competitive football is a factor in that performance. Going forward the team created a ton more chances than Clare and converted a good number of them. The Clare midfield were excellent and crowded Kerry out of that area and had a stellar performance from their number 8. Defensively we looked easy to score on too.
A lot to be fixed but I saw plenty of hope in the way the team attacked and the amount of pace in the side as well was evident for long periods. The real test will be against Cork next week of course but I hope it was just ring rustiness rather than anything more serious.

With David Moran's retirement, it means Kerry have no u21/u20 All-Ireland winner on the Senior squad for the first time since JFK was alive!

Thanks for link to Galway Sligo U20 match, great game very exciting Didn't see it myself - was out for the evening but from the reports I've seen seems like Sligo got the run of the green in a couple of spots. Will be ineresting to see how the seniors get on in the championship if they get by New York at the weekend. A Connacht final and 3 group games against serious opposition is a big step up from Division 4 football.

Great performance up in Kildare by the sounds of it, important to get the 2 points today after the draw last week. Still in the hunt for a final place.

I see Cork are only slight favs for tonight's game, with having home advantage and Kerry's unimpressive semi final display I'm a little surprised. I know betting forecasts are not the be all and end all......but this gives me some more hope than i had after watching the semi final.

By all accounts Cork were not that impressive against Limerick - I know Limerick were held scoreless from play but it was only 1-6 to 0-4 after 45 mins with Limerick’s fitness finding them out in the last 1/4. I think our game will have brought us along a lot - after all, it was 10 weeks since the previous competitive game & we were very rusty - I expect a big improvement tonight & hopefully a win though Rob Monahan’s loss is a worry.

Cork definitely are no great shakes this year, if they get over the line tonight I’d be very confident that Sligo would beat them in the semi final. There has to be a focus on not conceding goals tonight even if it means a few points are given up. Despite our record at u20 level against Cork in Cork I think Kerry will win tonight.

A weeks a long time in politics and in football.
A much improved first half..
Far tighter at the back and they dealt with a few high balls that caught us out last week.
Hopefully now they see it out now in the 2nd half.

Some difference from last week in terms of the start we got. Still very open at the back and Cork have had a few good goal chances too. Some good last ditch tackling and goalie has done very well. Hopefully they close it out in the second half.
