Is there an All Star holiday this year? i would say not, where is it going to be fitted in!? when was the last one? I remember David went in 2018. I don’t remember there being anything about one in 2019 and covid obviously impacted the last 2 years.

3.45pm start in Ballybofey on 29th January isn't exactly convenient for anyone except the home team! it does give us supporters time to get up there though! defo rather 3.45 as opposed to the mad early throw in, in Tyrone. all depends on what people want - stay over night Saturday, drive up and down, stay Sunday etc. will be late home, early rise for sure anyway but its only an extra hour or so you could argue. team probably doesnt make the flight from Dublin to Kerry for the Donegal game though.

Having been struck down with this god almighty dose Christmas was a write off.
So I'm trying to look forward to the start of the league in 4 weeks.
Looking at what's the best overnight options and I'm struggling to find accommodation.
Where do the Kerry supporters generally socialise when we play in Castlebar ?

Well Mike Byrnes would be THE GAA bar in Castlebar. Lovely pint of porter and the man himself is a very warm, welcoming and knowledgeable man! If you're out for a few after the game defo call in there at some point.
The last time I was in Castlebar was the last League match on the Sunday before the first Covid lockdown. I was in the Irish House getting food after, a nice big place where the Kerry supporters club crowd were also in.

Thanks lads,
Cannot find accommodation in castlebar.
Looks like Westport is the only option.
None in Tralee either for the Armagh game.

Any guess at a team for the Cork game?
Huge amount of weddings lately for the players, a good few will be missing.

Well as far as I know the following players are out due to Club or Injuries: Jack Savage David Moran Paul Murphy Shane Ryan Paudie Clifford David Clifford Joe O'Connor Gavin White
Also there is good reason to look at new faces given the lads have been playing a lot of football since we played Limerick in Tralee in January between Club & County.
I can see a lot of fringe players getting game time in this McGrath Cup and probably 1st 3 or 4 league games as well. Probably some more lads from the winning East Kerry team to be called up as well as 1 or 2 more outstanding guys from the County Championship. Jack will be looking to increase the competition for places

Thanks lads, Cannot find accommodation in castlebar. Looks like Westport is the only option. None in Tralee either for the Armagh game. The last time (or maybe the time before that) that Kerry played Mayo in Castlebar they stayed in the McWilliam hotel in Claremorris so that could be an option. It might be full with Ukrainians this year though.

I’d be thinking this will be the main pool of players that will be involved in the McGrath Cup assuming no one has been dropped from the panel and the reports on who’s called in are accurate;
Shane Murphy Chris O’Donoghue Dylan Casey Jack O’Shea Dan O’Donoghue Cian Gammell Mike Breen Shane Cronin Greg Horan Pa Warren Stefan Okunbor Ronan Buckley Eanna O’Conchuir Ruairi Murphy Barry Mahony Michael Burns Dara Moynihan (coming back from injury so in need of games) Dara Roche Eddie Horan Tony Brosnan Killian Spillane Donal O’Sullivan

Is Spa's Liam Kearney back inside does anyone know?

Barry Sullivan refused the invitation to attend inside Not according to Jack in today’s interview the list of players called in is not in a quotation so may not be Jack's words. It was rumoured before Jack called anyone in that he was going travelling in 2023 so hard to know Barry was super for Dingle all year, I would like to see him getting a run in the mcgrath cup and NFL He had one amazing weekend last summer, man of the match in the county league football final on a Friday evening for Dingle and the match went to extra time and had a whale of a match for Kilmoyley in the hurling championship semi final the following evening in a match that also went to extra time. great sportsman

1 Jack Barry 2 Mike Breen 3 Tony Brosnan 4 Micheál Burns 5 Dylan Casey 6 David Clifford 7 Paudie Clifford 8 Gavin Crowley 9 Jason Foley 10 Cian Gammell 11 Paul Geaney 12 Greg Horan 13 David Moran 14 Tadhg Morley 15 Dara Moynihan 16 Paul Murphy 17 Shane Murphy 18 Brian Ó'Beaglaíoch 19 Éanna Ó'Conchúir 20 Joe O'Connor 21 Dan O'Donoghue 22 Jack O'Shea 23 Stephen O’Brien 24 Diarmuid O’Connor 25 Seán O’Shea 26 Donal O'Sullivan 27 Graham O’Sullivan 28 Tom O’Sullivan 29 Stefan Okunbor 30 Darragh Roche 31 Shane Ryan 32 Jack Savage 33 Adrian Spillane 34 Killian Spillane 35 Pa Warren 36 Gavin White
That's last years panel.
Club-tied between Senior, Intermediate and Junior David Clifford Paudie Clifford David Moran Jack Savage Shane Ryan Paul Murphy Also there might be a few from these clubs that were potentially in the called-in category if they were available besides lads from last year's panel
Injured Joe O'Connor - out for the year Gavin White Mike Breen Paul Geaney Stephen O'Brien Graham O'Sullivan Seanie O'Shea Hard to see any of these involved in the Cork game anyway given Jack named them but who knows beyond that in terms of when they are likely to back.
There may well be others carrying knocks or out sick given the amount of illness that is around (heard some more names who may be missing but will just leave it to who Jack mentioned in the article. Don't be too surprised to see some might be listed as subs/some might be back for the Clare game)
That's pretty clear in terms of who the management are looking at as potentials this year. Hard to see any others being added to the mix barring an injury crisis in some position.
On Barry O'Sullivan's involvement it would be a fairly strange for Jack to name him if he's not "inside" especially in terms of options around the middle.

Not A bad selection by Cork, the last three subs are tidy, Cronin, Deane and Sherlock. Deane was dropped last year which surprised he, he was always a direct runner and reminds me of their early 90's forty yard man Joe Kavanagh.

I'm not really a gambler but I like a bet on the 4 national league divisions.
I never back against Kerry but I'm struggling to see us winning the league this year.
Fixtures look tough away to Mayo,Tyrone and Donegal and Galway.
With all our injuries and club tied players and hopefully a rest for David Clifford.
Can we win the league 4 years on bounce ?
So I'm swaying towards,
D1 Mayo - I think they'll get a bounce from McStay and returning injured forwards. D2 Dublin D3 Westmeath D4 Laois
Or am I mad altogether ?
Sorry in advance I'm not promoting gambling its just an interest during the winter!

I'm thinking that Jack has the right attitude towards the league and he will have a squad of very motivated players who want to show why they should be on the championship panel. Some of the Fossa, Rathmore and Kerins O Rahillys players might see some league time as well, depending on results this weekend. The club finals are 22nd of January so a lot of the players will be available for some of the league. Those that will play will want to show that they should be on the panel for the championship and that can be a great motivator. Donegal, Monaghan and Mayo have all last key players. I think Galway, Armagh and Tyrone will have most to gain by winning the league. Still, I think Kerry will win the league, purely to issue a statement of intent and because we have little opposition in Munster.
In division 2 Cork, Clare, Derry, Derry, Kildare, Meath should all be able to beat each other on a good day. I don't think promotion for Dublin is a given and would expect Derry or Kildare to do well.
Division 3 Westmeath, but I don't know enough about each team to truly have a go at predictions. Division 4 Wexford: the talk is great in Wexford so maybe they can improve and get promoted.
