Right the dust has settled and I'm home after my few pints in Dublin. I was talking to Dublin Mayo Sligo Meath Donegal and Kerry people about the game. Obviously different views but the one condenses is that the game was played in good spirits till near the end. The foul on Paudie was horrendous but let us not forget Tadhg Kennelly. That was horrendous. Im a Kerryman. I love Kerry but because I've spent the last 30 years standing up for us I have to call a spade a spade and everyday wrong is wrong. I argue with posters that don't see us do wrong. Kerry have been as cynical as anyone over the years. As Billy Morgan said years ago "Some say Northern teams are cynical well the most cynical of all are down south". Today in my view the ref got most of his calls right. Both Clifford's deserved red as did the Tyrone boys. I call things as I see them and right or wrong I'll stand over them but I try to give a dair synopsis. Why do people insist on bringing up Tadgh Kennelly every time a Kerry player is the victim of unsavoury doings? Tadgh Kennelly was an isolated incident fourteen years ago and one that nobody defended. It has no relevance to yesterday's game, nor does it cancel out perennial skullduggery by teams from Tyrone. We're allowed to call incidents like yesterday's without having to say an act of contrition for Tadhg Kennelly every time. Ah, the ancient Irish art of Whataboutery which continues to be practised with religious fervour by some. What happened in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 is about as relevant to yesterday as what happened in a different match in 2009 but that's not a problem to the Whatabouters.

ciarraimick never misses a chance to say something negative about Kerry or to tell us all how biased we are. Thanks for the service

So many varying opinions about yesterdays fare, exactly how it should be on a Forum like this. My day started with a few words with DC long before match time which was photographed and posted to social media. My phone hopped all day and night. From before the throw in Stewardstown's No 3 was pulling and dragging out of David, he was relentlessly looking for a reaction which was very slow in coming. I'm pretty certain that David's first yellow came from trying to shrug him off but I may be wrong. I forgot to record the match yesterday so haven't had a chance to have my second look. I didn't see a lot of what went on at the Canal end in the dying minutes as I was almost at the hill. I also didn't hear Paudie's speech with all the kerfuffle so can't comment. It was great to be in Croke Park for 2 Kerry victories, I was slightly disappointed not to see Aidan O Mahony get a run in the latter stages though. Looking forward to being back on the road for the league.

You are a disgrace and there can be no justification for what could have maimed Paudie for life, GAA player or not. I was told you were trouble and trouble you are - talking never ending crap, drivel stating the obvious and then trying to get attention - ADHD those in white coats call it, go see a doctor - people have had enough of you. I am reporting you, I think you should be banned - anyone agree just Like this comment and Control will have to act! BTW and while I felt Paudie had no excuse as he tapped a fella (even if lightly) on the head, I don't think he was wrong to talk about it there an then - just read what Jackiel says was done to his brother right from the throw in. There was only a kick of a ball in it at the end so there can be no shortage of sour grapes around Stewartstown today. As I said, the Cliffords, no more than Kerry, are scamps - they are class, we are class - we openly condemned Tadhgeen so don't tar ourselves with that brush. Two of otherwise fine footballers in Stewartstown's Nos 3 and 14 saw red - a taint on an otherwise spectacular afternoon for GAA, ah ok, a bit of Kerry bias but it was entertaining even for neutrals, I suppose the aggro has us stand even firmer with our own county men, great county men - who said DC had the best year any GAA player ever had, and he ended up with red - Gus Cremin RIP alluded to this with Weeshise RIP in an interview, saying fielding was no more as the ball winner is hounded and then penalised by lesser equals for defending his possession - now there's something for our legiuslators to improve the great game, the greatest game!

That's over the top, Bally. Using an isolated incident 15 years ago (that we also owned up to), to try to part justify an attempt to permanently maim a fellow human being, all in front of crowds, including children, on a Sunday afternoon - I don't think so!

Everyone sees what they want to see. For example, lots of people believe that Tadhg Kennelly was the first and last person in a Kerry jersey to commit a nasty tackle.

Everyone sees what they want to see. For example, lots of people believe that Tadhg Kennelly was the first and last person in a Kerry jersey to commit a nasty tackle. Kerry are a clean and class team in a contact sport and while young blue blooded men are prone to do once-off silly things that they regret, we do not set out to sledge and obstruct - yes, Deenihan did it to Jimmy Barry-Murphy but that was one man and a long time ago. Kerry have a culture of sportsmanship - look what we did, foolishly IMO, to oblige Tyrone in 2022. I suppose that we air these one-off incidents on here reflects our innocence - we are as clean a county as you will get and when the naughty ones do likewise they can be very easy on the eye. Any chance of a bit of chat about the football that was played yesterday in Croke Park, involving two/4 of rural Irelands' best?

People need to discover the block function. If someone is annoying, block them, ignore them. A better life.
I think that Paidi Clifford not correcting Larry McCarthy on his name might suggest he might have been suffering some temporary impairment alright.

If it were a matter of Control banning posters based on the feedback of other posters, you would have been gone a long time ago. No I wouldn't - and I got a lot of praise at times. Point me to a single comment I made that wasn't in good faith? What you allude to may have been way back when I was accused of being off-point when I addressed the financing of the GAA, all the while I even had the late Eugene McGee's ear - Dublin then arrived and people could talk about nothing else, maybe Eugene saw that coming down the line, I didn't but I could see it from other codes and indeed structures in society - blatant crime by 'respected' vested interests, etc and what they cost us and where voluntary community effort pays the highest price, i.e. the GAA community. I even drew a response from them with MOM (unwittingly of course I'd say) accepting a guest speech invitation from them, staged in Kerry if you don't mind! I have had varying experiences in life and yes, I can be controversial but not for the sake of it, not ADHD. I also believed Veteran should have been allowed to vent his Covid theory on here, mainly because I was learning from him - no so much about Covid but as to why we are becoming 'cynical' about life, I appreciated where he was coming from and tell me someone who hasn't been disillusioned with this world on occasion. I tried my damndest behind the scenes and with a few others to get him to come back on here but to no avail, we had previously fallen out because I alluded to how his big words upset the flow of understanding in his otherwise excellent match reports - ah maybe I was a bit cheeky but I was only having the crack, trying to be light hearted but the Internet is far from a perfect medium of communication, nothing like face to face as opposed to the ghostland that are the likes of Facebook! If there is a Block facility I have had enough of 2 on here, Annascaul and Ciarriamick, and I am far from alone in that as my PMs would show. I feel said posters use the forum as a mental prop, just my opinion! My acid test is, have I ever learned anything from them, and no I haven't. Mandad is my ultimate hero on here and anyone who has aspirations, just take a look at his history. Unfortunately he hasn't been on in quiet a while but his comments are, well timeless - awesome, a real dark horse, he'd be up there with John B, Houlihan & Co. He'd be my favourite person in the whole wide world for a chat over a pint, or two - too many, I wish!

Dublin recently had a good team albeit with a few individuals who have crossed the line on occasion no more than ourselves, but they weren't a dirty or cynical teams as such nor was that either Dublin or our culture.
Tyrone are different somewhat in that they are well capable of playing football, also have individuals who can mix it but most importantly this unfortunately seem to be their culture. And anyone involved in a sporting organisation will know that, while you can change individuals it's very difficult to change the culture.

The Tyrone team have for a few years now played excellent football and while they still seem to have some controversy every year, they have cleaned up a lot. The intercounty team have been no dirtier, or less dirty, then Dublin, Mayo or Kerry the last few years. We are well capable of doing some dark things ourselves. The elbow yesterday is a whole different thing, despite the other red cards I don't think it was an overly dirty or physical game. Fossa got away with a few things, and so did Stewartstown. That elbow though is assault and should be treated as such.

They are much more improved in recent years, and that may be down to work their doing in their underage academies in changing the culture, but I'd say those outside the Intercounty development structures will carry on as has been tradition.

Well congrats to Fossa and Rathmore anyway, a great day for Kerry football and both clubs did their county proud. Rathmore were very slick and assured and even though they gave up a couple of goal chances in truth they were in control of that game throughout. Shane Ryan gave a brilliant performance as did Mark in midfield. Huge credit to Kenneth O'Keeffe too for some excellent saves - he's from some family of goalies!!
I was very impressed by Fossa too considering they were up against it for so long. In a junior match a 3/4 point lead can be near insurmountable but the two Cliffords rose to the challenge in that second half. Unfortunately my fears about Tyrone club culture were realised by Stewardstown's antics, at least they got what they deserved. I've no issue with the two Cliffords being sent of, they deserved to be and I just hope Jack has a stern word with them about getting involved in unnecessary agro. David is a marked man these days and every defender in the country will be out to niggle him to get a reaction, yesterday was proof that sometimes he might react. Felt Paudie should have not mentioned the ref in his speech. I understand where he was coming from but GAA officials are a small community and they will protect their own. Those comments could be in the back of another ref's mind in a big Kerry game later on. We've enough of a target on our backs being AI champs without adding to it.
Must also be said that whatever about the junior side, Gallbally played their match in the right spirit and while I'll never understand a team that's losing sticking to the 14 men behind the ball rubbish, the match was clean and sporting.
My friend from Fossa broke his dry January to have a few porters with me after the game, I doubt he was the only one. Probably a fair few sore heads around Fossa and Rathmore today and who would begrudge them!

I was just discussing the assault with a friendly MMA fighter and referee and even in MMA it would have meant a lifetime ban. We’re both animal lovers and pankration enthusiasts, me for its depictions in ancient art, she for the fighting aspects. The Greeks had very few rules and pankration was truly brutal, often resulting in deaths. Deliberate elbows to the temple were not allowed even in that. I keep hammering on about it, but when do we say enough is enough? When players are being killed?

Paudi Clifford was wrong in what he did. I have watched it a few times and I can’t see it as being an “eye gouging incident “ Certainly looked bad but no way an eye gouge as referee indicated.
Clifford brothers suffered more off ball pulling , dragging an verbals than should have been tolerated
Amazing how linesman and umpires have selected vision / blindness
No doubt Tyrone brought their brand of aggression to what could have been a great game

Very lively for a Monday 🤣🤣🤣 Isn’t it just, bit surprised by the stance by some, but everyone is entitled to their opinions. I think the general consensus is both Kerry teams played the better ball and deserved their wins. The Rathmore game was a tame affair but after the Fossa game that was to be expected, there was a few niggles on both sides, to be fair I think the only real dirty stroke was the high elbow which was scandalous. The full back was silly in his challenge, it wasn’t a punch but more a push to the face, thought Shea made a bit of a meal of it to be fair but regardless, the full back was pure stupid in what he did, to strike, attempt or raise the hand and you’re gone - costly error for his village The sub that saw red for the high elbow must be fair embarrassed this morning, this action could have far reaching consequences if looking for a job interview for example. Paudie was most lucky with just a fat lip. I will say one thing, and we all have seen this unfold when a team goes a man down, the ref will take any opportunity to ‘balance the books’ I was shocked the Fossa man escaped with a yellow for the clothes line, that was dangerous and if the roles were reversed we’d be baying for blood. Regardless, one just has to be thankful that DC and his brother are a Kerry born or of the kingdom…… Serious serious talents. Two things showed the class of our ballers yesterday, the guard of honour for Rathmore and DC’s man of the match interview, no grudges, leave it on the field, shake hands and drive on… fine fine examples.

Wasn't good. At least it was in the context of tussling for possession though, unlike some of the other incidents. Amazing that the brother was overlooked for the senior team for so long. The talent was evident from way back. Serious omission by PK really.

He had every right to be aggrieved after that game and yet he had the maturity and composure to speak so well. He'll make a great captain.
