It was Darren O'Sullivan who saved our bacon that day iirc.

Offaly, Armagh, Dublin 2011 the noteable 1 point defeats plus multiple semi finals like Kildare 98 and Tyrone last year. im sure theres more.

Same here - agree fully on that day in Mullingar - we were haunted to get out of there alive - Darran did more than anyone that day to get us over the line. The 2010 win over Cork was one of the most satisfying but ruined on the way home with news of the Galvin incident which wasn’t evident during the game from the open stand.

Sunday was only the 2nd time I recall Kerry have won a Championship game with a late winning score, with that Monaghan game in 07 being the other one (Tomas O Se with the winner in the 69th minute).
Lots of occasions of Kerry losing to late winning scores - Darby 82, Murphy 83 Cluxton 11, Keane 20.
Have Kerry ever won a game with a late goal? Mikey Sheehy in 87 the closest I remember only for Cork to equalise.

God its mad to think how close that match in Mullingar was. I remember how close we came at times to losing it but I never knew there was only a point in it at the end, and I was also in Cusack Park that day. Must have blocked it out of the memory banks.
That was actually a great weekend away in Mullingar, there was a sizeable Kerry contingent around the town the night before and the day of the game itself. Was that the same day London played in the Connacht final, I seem to recall watching that in the pub before the Kerry match.
Typical I suffered through that and was in England the next weekend relying on Radio Kerry when we finally got a bit of sweet revenge on Tyrone.

That Monaghan game we were very lucky that day

its been a feature over the last 20 years, to have Kerry teams labelled as not being able to win big tight games.
it appears based off this new data, its been happening there for our history! there must be more than 10 games where we lost by 1 point or drawn or indeed games like 2013 & 2016 that were level in the last minute and we lost.
great to finally win one when it mattered.
