You beat me to it, I was just about to promote Coolard, in saying that the parking in Derrynane would be better than PúC I'm sure we could have the pitch in Crotta ready is Sky need it...

Lets be fair here....playing at home is an advantage in every sport all over the world.... (except the Cork hurlers who prefer Thurles). Are you serious, as my old friend John McEnroe used to say? Get back to me on this topic if Cork forfeit home venue against Limerick in the upcoming hurling match. I have never heard Cork hurling teams agitating to have any game switched from PUC to Thurles . I am sure Tipperary, for one, would grant their wish every time. You may have heard some Cork people/hurlers make such statements after a resounding victory in Thurles. That’s hubris Michael. Cork are good at it. Talk is cheap.

Agree with most posts here. We stay out of it and will play wherever the venue is decided. We did the right thing too last year v Tyrone although we lost. We showed class.

Its not the only solution Tony. If they really wanted to, they could lay a new pitch in PUC in the week between the concert and the match. But that would cut too much into the profits the Cork Co Board are making from the convert.

Cork are well below par at the moment, football wise. They know what happened in 2020 and how the distraction of the Tyrone covid thing last year upset Kerry. The venue dispute over the Stacks Finbarrs game also upset Stacks. They'll take anything they can to gain an advantage here and this is just another example. Kerry should just stay mute here. Offer nothing, practice in a tight pitch, request a few A B games in PUR in the meantime to get a run of the place and go up there in May and win.

Is there scope to postpone the game by a week or so and stage it in PUC then.
If it transpires that the Munster Council dig their heels in and Cork forfeit the game, could the GAA then proceed to throw them out of the qualifiers as well? Could the GAA even go further and throw Cork out of all competitions , including hurling ? Very unlikely to happen due financial reasons etc but it might help to diminish the bravado currently emanating from across the border.
Does anybody know how the gate receipts for a Munster championship game are divided . I presume the Munster Council get a certain percentage and after that does the staging county get more than the other participating county etc?

Is there a danger going forward that the gesture of goodwill we showed last summer towards Gaa HQ, and Tyrone Gaa is something that we are going to have to guard against being blackguarded about!!

Totally I really feel for kerry county board here 2 years in a row getting dragged into a pile of rubbish nothing to do with us. This is 100% a cork issue we should 100% not be getting involved at all but the game is scheduled for the weekend of the 7th/8th and that is when it must happen wherever it is to happen.

Totally agree that we need to stay out of this. If we must say something, simply reiterate that this is a dispute between Cork and the Munster Council, that we are happy to play the match at any venue, and to resolve it as soon as possible.
Giving a preference either way ("We think it should be in Killarney/PUR") only draws more questions.

I was going to say something about the situation, but percentageplay has covered all the angles. Thanks also to MickMac for being calm and diplomatic.
Cork are in trouble financially due to the actions of the previous County Board under Frank Murphy. All Counties stage concerts to make money. International stars, whether we like their “music” or not, have to have these planned well in advance and once made, they cannot be altered, but only cancelled, and no doubt there are penalties for that.
I can see how Cork are perceived as the “bad guys” here, but the blazers in the GAA in general are far removed from the concerns of ordinary supporters – Sky’s exclusive coverage of this match is a good example.
No single person in Cork expects the footballers to beat Kerry no matter where the match is played. Cork football is at the lowest ebb it’s ever been in my fairly long lifetime. When the Pairc was being redeveloped, going to Killarney for a few years in a row did not mean much because we always thought we had a chance, no matter how deluded that was. All that is gone now.

This might sound simplistic but if this match goes ahead at the biggest available venue (Killarney apparently) the Munster council will be able to earn the most possible amount of money, which can be distributed to the county boards in Munster to fund GDAs to go into schools and clubs in Bandon, Clon, Skibereen, Macroom etc. etc. Cork football needs rebuilding, and it's counterproductive for the Cork football camp to be outraged by something that could be of benefit in the long term for a short term victory, especially when in reality and unfortunately for Cork it'll probably be only a moral victory.

Same side of the coin as Dubs playing home games in Croker, i.e. max gate revenue. Only a once off but then again money is more serious with Dubs constituting is it 30% of the population! I'm not saying I agree and redistribution is also an issue. And if that rumour re Sky having exclusive TV rights is true, people have been shot for less - I mean after what the vulnerable have been through, what with Covid, price of food and heat ... a sad day for the GAA if that's where we are, hope it is a sick April 1 joke!

Billy Morgan speaking sense on news.
Play it in Killarney and have two games on Cork when arguably Cork a better side.

Just read the very sad death of Red Og Murphy who was a Sligo footballer and was on the Sigerson team of the year.
Puts all these silly things in perspective.

Saying we should stay out of this is fine and dandy , and diplomatic I suppose. On the other hand, I want to see this match. If it is played in PUC or Killarney I will have no problem procuring a ticket. If it is played in PUR , my chances of getting a ticket are considerably reduced , perhaps minuscule.
My mood hasn’t been improved by learning over the past few hours that the match will not be on terrestrial television.

This is my fear about Cork getting there way, what's to stop any other county using this as a precedent from now on to host games where ever they like. What if next year Tipp are playing us and want to drag us to that club ground we played them in the McGrath Cup because its to their advantage regardless of how few supporters can be in attendance?
There's no way PUR will be made ready to host the 14k odd they are talking about over the next month. The lowest Kerry/Cork attendance lately in the Championship has been 5,000 above that capacity. Remember too that people haven't had the chance to go to a Cork/Kerry Munster game since 2019. The McGrath Cup final in Jan saw 8,000 in Killarney, that's fairly close to what the capacity of PUR is like now in itself.
I just don't agree with people being locked out for games, what is any sport without spectators? The whole point of our games is for people to be able to go and support their county! Given how long we all were left outside the gates due to Covid, restricting people from going to the first game of our Championship summer against our ancient and fiercest rival is just poor form.
Anyway I just hope it all gives Kerry the motivation they need to banish any thoughts of complacency that might have crept in after last summer's result.

Give Cork the game in PUR. Calculate what the financial cost of not hosting it in Killarney is and deduct that amount from the Munster Council grant next year. Win win.
If the game is at a neutral venue, next meeting is Killarney. No chance of deferring the gentleman's agreement.
The game in Killarney this year is the best thing for Cork. They would be further along their new project next year and the year after with the game in Killarney this year and Cork the following 2 years. Next year could be a provincial final at home, better than a semi final.

Surely each county board have their designated County Grounds for the Munster Council. Waterford have Walsh Park with nearly as small a capacity as Pairc Ui Rinn, but as it is their designated home venue, the Waterford home games will be there...end of discussion.
If a County Grounds is not available, that county should lose the fixture and Munster Council refix it at their discretion, probably with agreement between counties involved or at venue decided by home county...but the refixture must be at a County Grounds.
Solution: Thurles, Limerick or Killarney in May 2022...let Cork choose, and the "Home/Away" agreement is skipped for a year (meaning in Cork next time).

A ffs skysports are involved in Kerry Cork game. We are in trouble now. They might tighten in the pitch. Remember Tyrone v Dublin in Omagh in the super 8s when Mickey Harte said it was skysports were the cause of making the pitch smaller lol

I remember in 2009 we played a championship qualifier game against Sligo in Tralee while the Puddy cat dolls were playing in Killarney.
We were lucky to get out alive that day.
