Proper order - if they want to build a White Elephant, make the taxpayer foot the bill for their incompetence doing so and the decide to shaft their own teams and supporters by hosting a concert instead for someone who has committed some of the worst crimes against music in modern history that's there business.
But don't go around bi$ching then if the GAA world calls you out on it and tells you to cop on and play a game of this stature in a proper venue.
If Ricken, Kingston and their players have any issues or complaints they should be knocking on the door of their own chairman.

The "Newbridge or Nowhere" catchphrase has been thrown around in the last days and in particular the last few hours.
That was a completely different set of circumstances. The rules of that particular Qualifier draw stated that the first team pulled out of the hat were entitled to a home venue. Kildare were the first team out and were perfectly entitled to fight their corner and hold their ground in that case.
This is an entirely different matter altogether. This is a Munster Gaa Championship, whose executive make decisions regarding venues, throw in times, etc. The precedence of the alternating venues only comes with the agreement of all three organisations, Kerry Gaa, Cork Gaa, and the Munster Executive.
The hermit is correct above, Cork made this

It was always going to be moved, money and the bottom line by the gaa accountant was always going to dictate the move.
Put simply, the venue would not cater for the volume of season tickets, even the venue itself and the parking facilities would hardly handle a full house.
Course the biggest winner is Killarney and the local traders, a serious boost to their financial coffers in a bad year.

Echoing other posters above, this is a mess of Cork's own making. The Munster Council are never going to forfeit their biggest football earner of the year, especially at half the average capacity.
Hope it doesn't go to extra time or we'll need the torches in Killarney!

Cork should look at this from a positive angle. Kerry will be visiting them as All-Ireland champions in 2023. What an honour. Pairc Ui Chaoimh will be packed to the rafters . As far as I know the All Blacks charge appearance money for certain matches. Knowing Cork people as I do , I have no doubt at all they will be prepared to pay this Kerry team generous hello money for this chance of a life time.

I still say there shouldn't have to be a game owed for this. A mess of Cork's own (deliberate) making - why should Kerry have to bail them out again? I'd much rather this one went to another venue altogether, with Killarney again next year. But sure it's decided now.

Personally I'm delighted, for my own selfish reasons. Travelling down the 7th for the Dingle half Marathon and was not going to head to Cork but rather watch it in Dingle. Now it's a quick dip in the Atlantic and a night in Killarney.
Great day please god.

Do Cork ever learn? Can they manage anything at all? They've known about the Ed 'Plagarist' Sheeran with a long time concert, the upgrading works in Flower Lodge surely would have been known early on, now they cannot be fulfilled? This is sadly a microcosm of the systematic malaise that's gripping the game in Cork. A pity really, as we in Kerry badly need a strong Cork, like intense rivalry in any sport is good at keeping up standards. History repeating itself, in a slightly different guise, reminds me of their strikes going back to 2002, infighting, politics, unilateralist action, personal issues, disunity, hurling v football supporters etc, the list is endless.

Did the Munster Council initially decide to play the game at P.Ui Rinn or was that a decision unilaterally made by Cork?

My understanding is that Cork Gaa would not have the authority to decide where a Munster championship match involving themselves, or any other county for that matter, will be played. I'm assuming that this was a Munster council decision, but one that had regard for the long standing traditional arrangement between Kerry and Cork. I'm assuming Cork Gaa were invited to propose a venue, but the final call is with the Munster council.

Of course all of Cork will blame the Munster council, Kerry and anyone else that would offer a view but they own all of this. Bear in mind also, and I'm not suggesting that this happen by the way, but I'd imagine that Kerry Gaa could walk away from this "gentleman's agreement" with Cork Gaa at any time. It's not like we're at the days when Cork was guaranteed to be our toughest match in Munster. Where would that leave PUC in terms of intercounty football attendances. So before they start barking demands of us they need to realise that we're as good for them as they are for us.

I have no problem with Cork gaa trying to make extra money ré concerts etc but when it affects gaa then it's a problem to all gaa folk. Cork people are known to be hungry for money and this goes to show maybe money is Cork s God. Its a gaa stadium built with mainly gaa funds and grants so suit gaa first. Cork County board should come out here of there not too busy counting money. Hungry feckers

I see this as no different to what the Leinster council do when putting the majority of their games in Croke Park.

AFAIK,Those concerts were meant to be on last year at a time when it wouldn't have had an impact on the championship.
They had to be cancelled cos of Covid restrictions and were re-scheduled to take into account the scheduling of the artist in question.
Apparently there isn't enough time in the week to repair the damage to the pitch surface after the concert. They didn't want to re-lay an entire new pitch like they did in Croke Park about 10 years ago.
Ricken will use this as a motivating factor for his troops - even our own crowd won't stand up for us sort of thing.

Was talking to a club mate of mine from Cork yesterday, he thinks it's a non issue from a supporters point of view cos the Cork crowd love the craic of a weekend in Killarney. Blame sitting with Cork County board for making PUC unavailable. Accommodation was booking up very quickly last night but I'm sorted thankfully.

Fair play to Botty O'Callaghan, erstwhile town councillor & GAA aficionado. His effort at the béal bocht on Radio Kerry Sports news this lunchtime about the change of venue had me in stitches.

The Cork footballers are meeting after training to discuss the venue change.
They'd want to cop on because they look very foolish now.

The Cork players giving out the game was moved to Killarney was due to financial reasons and that's not a good enough reason to move a venue.
I wonder could they enlighten us for what reasons the game was moved from PUC to PUR? If it's financial reasons they should reverse the decision to allow Ed Sheeran play there.

Proper order too. Antrim's stadium issues are not exactly their own making unlike our neighbours. If during the rebuild Cork wanted to play in PUR instead of the Gentleman's agreement reached then I'd accept their choice of venue. Hopefully the uproar about Antrim's home venue will shame people to actually do something with Casement.

Hello pot, this is kettle: "The decision to take the game to Killarney is driven by the financial benefits resulting from a larger crowd. We feel this reasoning sets a bad precedent, it is wrong and it goes against the values of the Gaelic Athletic Association."
