Might have had this done before but anyway…1 player you can have from another county, who is still playing OR not retired. Who is it and why?
For me:Paul Mannion (I know he’s stepped away but not retired)
Pace, intensity, two feet, tackler, aggressor, points from distance. Just outrageous talent, work rate, dummies, bounce skills…Imagine having him inside…

Actually I was thinking of the same question watching games since the league started.
The player I would pull out the cheque book for is Daniel Flynn. He has skill vision and succeeds in making a functional attack out of some ordinary players.

Rian O’Neill. Himself and David inside together would be unstoppable.

Jack McCaffrey. Its a crime the joy of the game was sucked out of him. What a baller, I'd love to watch him play again. Technically he is still young enough to unretire. We did have a referee who announced his retirement during the off-season and unretired making himself unavailable for a grand total of 0 inter-county games.

Daniel Flynn (Kildare) would be dropped off the panel within a few weeks

James Mccarthy (Dublin) Versatile tough and speedy. If I could pick one player from a few different counties I'd also go for Daniel Flynn (Kildare) Jarlath Óg Burns (Armagh) Sean Powter(Cork) M. Murphy (Donegal). Niall Morgan (Tyrone) Mattie Ruane (Mayo) Enda Smith (Roscommon) Fenton ??

Daniel Flynn (Kildare) would be dropped off the panel within a few weeks Why? His decision making looks poor at times for Kildare but that’s because he’s trying to take everything on for them. If he played for Kerry he could be very effective in a ball winning role and as a target man for Clifford and co to play off. I didn’t say him but I certainly wouldn’t agree that he’d be dropped off the panel.

James McCarthy Michael Murphy Lee Keegan
I also had a real gra for Bernard Brogan, his ability to score when being fouled, when off balance or when under real pressure from a marker was up there with the best I’ve ever seen

Good point. I agree with you on Shane Walsh, An artist but undependable. I don't see Galway doing much this year.

I've seen it before, just get a fast player to run beside him , not tackle him and he'll kick the ball wide

100%, what an absolute travesty losing him, if he had stayed nobody would be mentioning fentin. Also a fit Seán Powter.

'Louth GAA sets up sub-committee to look into abnormal quantity of transfer requests' Are you surprised, large money has changed hands in Kerry regarding player transfers, many promising county standard youngsters, in particular from rural clubs are invariably tapped up to sign for more high profile clubs. I know of at least two ex-minors, good friend of mine who refused such offers.

I know of at least two ex-minors, good friend of mine who refused such offers. I just saw it and thought it would be of interest to the Forum - now that I have had a browse of the article, yes I am surprised but then again I'm not close to how Clubs operate. If this is an issue then it could be the end of many smaller clubs, back to the old chestnut of rural depopulation. Of course you then have a star player who feels out of place, e.g. Brendan Devenney here in Donegal and who played with Lettrkenny's St Eunans - this would have helped him develop into a county player that might not otherwise have been the case. Sure we had the same ourselves with Timmy RIP, Noel and Tadhg Kennelly electing to play with senior club Emmets. I'd be interested to know more about 'trading players' and which appears to be rife.
