You’d wonder in 10-15 years time how the landscape of the North Kerry hurling clubs will look? I know Kilmoyley are making hay this last 20 years but they have said themselves they have very very small numbers now at underage. You’d imagine with smaller families now and less sons hanging around to do farming as a career choice this would have a knock on effect. But then again you see Ballyduff, Ballyheigue and Ardfert with huge numbers at the recent blitzes so maybe all is now at bad as we think. The football in North Kerry has definitely taken a big hit. Kilmoyley would never have been the strongest at underage in general. They haven't won a minor championship since 2009 or U21 since 2006. They'll always get a few from each underage team to keep them going. Ballyheigue then tend to do well at underage bit can't seem to keep on to players. With the change in the way people live etc i could see Abbeydorney benefiting. People working in Tralee etc could see Abbeydorney as a perfect area to live. They've already got a few people like this as is. I think i seen recently that 100% of a Leaving Cert class in Causeway went on to some sort of further education. Where before they would have gone into a trade or farming. Kilmoyley were the powerhouse at underage hurling in the 1980s and 1990s and remained strong in the early 200Os. It was this underage success backboned their breakthrough at senior level after 30 years in 2001 with that team winning 4 in a row and damn near made a breakthrough at munster senior club championship level. This gave their senior team a backbone and they have stayed strong by adding a player or two each year since but it must be said they have poor numbers now underage which will catch them at senior level soon enough. Kilmoyley is actually one of the smallest GAA clubs in Kerry and the school in recent times has classes full of girls with very few boys. Good for camogie bad for hurling!! Ballyduff have a big parish and big numbers and have really got better organised at underage, expect this to manifest itself in more senior titles soon enough. They will always pick up a few under age hurlers from the likes of Ballydonoghue, Ballybunion too which helps. St Brendans have very good numbers underage too, also able to pick a few players from Churchill and Fenit. In football Ardfert have great numbers at the moment underage , they get players from Kilmoyley and Ballyheigue so have big squads. fielding 2 under 13 teams and have very good under 15 football team The real one to watch in Tralee Parnells, they have a hurling team at every age group, okay they are not winning A titles but are fielding more hurling teams than the like of strongholds in North Kerry who finds themselves amalgamating at under 17. Still a bit off senior hurling standard, but the club is on a strong footing and at last hurling in Tralee has a real foothold The likes of Rathmore and Firies are also fielding more teams in hurling with population growth a huge factor in this. Rathmore beat Causeway in minor hurling this year, cant ever recall Rathmore having a minor hurling team

What level were Tarbert actually playing at does anyone know? Off the top of my head o can't think of anyone who would have been on the Kerry minors etc in recent years. Are Listowel in the ''B'' championship in Munster? I remember at one point they were playing in the ''C'' championship. Would Ballybunion be any higher than the ''C'' championship? Same with Castleisland. Those would be the three biggest towns in North Kerry and if they're struggling to make an impact it's hard to build on that. The Green, the Sem, Mounthawk, Pobalscoil Corca Dhuibhne Dingle and Colaiste Na Sceilge are all in the Corn Ui Mhuiri which is the top tier. Causeway, Milltown and Listowel are in the second tier. Gaelcholaiste Tralee, Tarbert, Castleisland and Kenmare are all in the third tier. Ballybunion and Castlegregory are in the fourth tier. According to the Munster fixture planner Tarbert are entering a Senior football team. where are killorglin??

ISK Killorglin are in the Corn UI Mhuiri. I think that they're playing Tralee CBS in the first round.

Another listless performance from feale Rangers 17 point defeat , lucky it was away as most probably missed it . I know district teams had little access to clubs players due to championship.but they lost to south Kerry who would have same issue .

Looking at the team sheet, there wasn’t many players you could say should have been included that were not there, a lot will depend on how Shannon Rangers get on today, I think seeing the success of both the U15’s and the minors, there is a case for joining, if even just for a few years.
But either way the problem is players don’t want to line out for FR, there is no grà or will to win there at the moment, which is the main issue.
