Very disappointing display by the Kerry ladies today, losing by a goal to Armagh in the NFL final. I felt Armagh were vastly superior with the scoreboard not an accurate reflection of the game , Kerry’s goals being of the fortuitous variety and also the goalie, Mary Ellen Bolger, coming to the rescue on a few occasions.
I was expecting great things from Kerry this year , reaching the All-Ireland final last year and doing well up today in the NFL. On the evidence of today they are well behind Armagh and Dublin. I suppose one tends to say the following on foot of a defeat but they did look poorly coached and leaden footed. Sadly , for the likes of Louise and Lorraine Scanlon this year maybe their last chance of a medal.

Came by this link earlier. You've probably seen it before but if anyone's interested, it's footage of the '59 all-Ireland win v Galway. / This isn't my facebook page btw, I don't have an account.

Interesting National Hurling League final on Saturday night. Clare seemed to have found a few new scoring forwards which will be useful to their cause as time goes on.

I don't know, I think at this stage I'm blue (and saffron ) in the face from saying Clare will finally manage a Munster or an All Ireland. They've let themselves down badly in Croke Park the last few years and its a long, long time waiting for a provincial title too. We know they can push Limerick hard, but when it matters can they actually beat them? As unsure of that this year as I've been for the last 2-3, though I'd always be a banner fan in hurling.

Would anybody who has an Irish Examiner subscription mind posting Eamonn Fitz’s article on winning the All Ireland in 2014? A fright to be a tight arse😅

The job of a manager is to get things done – through other people. People are not perfect; managers are not perfect. But the personal letters bit was a masterclass. If there is one thing we know about Eamon it is that he is a man of huge integrity.

That Fitzy article above is the best I read in a long long time, and the way this AI is going it is going to be longer. The problem is that we will have to be on our guard as to what is written by man and what is machine, though Fitzy is some machine too - a great analyst, the most informative; player, manager and now wising us up! A great role model, a model role model!
And great to see my Donegal pals come through - in fairness Derry opened the door a bit. Many did say they'd tank it so pressure on them now to rediscover energy and form.
Can we now close the gap - hopefully it will be a year of tales of the unexpected!
