No mention here of an outside manager. should Jim Mcguinness be considered or James Horan. They are the standout candidates for me.

Interesting article in the Kerryman this evening penned by Damian Stack. Articulated the editorial position that supports the appointment of Peter Keane to take over from Eamon Fitzmaurice. A good case put forward but a pity the qualities of the other candidates were not explored. Shocking as well that no mention was given to Liam Kearns, who is the stand out candidate for me. Remember, it is a Kerry senior team manager that is to be appointed, not an organizer of a youth or college football team. I can’t for the life of me see how Liam Kearns is a candidate. What has he ever won. He is over a very talented Tipperary team who are still only doing ok in the lower divisions of the National League. Did ok through through the qualifiers once or twice but beat nobody too great. I don’t think he will get too much support from Rathmore for his coaching ability.

We’d be too proud to take on an outsider, plus they’d be under immense pressure from the off. Secondly Jimmy McGuinness would nearly be closer to his family if he was still in China. He’d have a easier commute to Glasgow than he would to Killarney!! On the plus side he could use the spy that climbed up the tree in St Finiand as a selector. On a side note Horan was a fantastic manager and probably the unluckiest one of all times. He brought Mayo from being a gang of of showboaters (Conor Mortimer et al) to being serious contenders. If he had held going as the Mayo manager they’d helave gotten over the line. Again it’s never going to happen. It’s a three way shoot out between Murphy, Keane and Jack. My own personal opinion is that Jack and Keane won’t want the job for a couple of more years. Jack likes his teams ready made. Keane can afford to play the long game, progress to u20s in time and then move up to senior.

I’d be very surprised if Liam Kearns is even a candidate in the eyes of the county board and I’d agree with them on that one.

Tyrone? Galway? Mayo? - they beat Cork ok but they are hardly a good team.

Kerry haven't beaten anyone of note in years and Kerry have much more resources than Tipperary. Kearns would be my choice, plenty of time for Peter Keane to take the reigns down the line.

Bar Tyrone pulling off the unexpected against Dublin, the Dubs will, in all reality have to perform well in 2 matches next year for their fifth on the trot. We have a very young team so we don't really have the luxury of picking a manager who will need time to find his feet at intercounty management. The price of failure next year is massive. I think it's vital that the new manager has managed at AI semi final level before at least. For me it's Liam Kearns or JoC.

Pat O Shea cannot get the job unless he leaves his role with the Munster Council which is his full time job so doubtful he will take on the Kerry job!!!!

Kerry are currently easy to beat and score against when it comes to the top teams. Kearns' teams are difficult to beat for the most part. It's not a reason to give him the gig but he deserves consideration I think.

Who has Donie Buckley worked with during his career? Milltown Malbay? Was he with Mickey Ned at Limerick? How long was he with Kerry before Jack humiliated him? The fact that Tim Murphy is going to nominate a management team means the power now rests with him and not the new manager, and such an occurrence cannot happen again!

Very true sobering really,in 14 we beat mayo and donegal and 15 tyrone and since then galway last year was the best team and they were average really.

To be fair up until this year we had only lost to Dublin & Mayo, granted Galway was a disappointing defeat, but lets not overstate this particular stat, it's more than a bit misleading. You could turn around and say Mayo have beaten only 1 top team (Kerry) in the same period of time, or even longer, would that be a fair reflection on their achievements?

They both have the same number of votes as Seamus Moynihan, Donie Buckley, John Evans & Stephen Stack. Mother of Jesus!!! Martin Horgan, back in the game. Paddy Power have Danny Healy Rae @ 500/1 No sign of Martin Horgan Does this mean that Paddy thinks Danny has a better chance of getting the gig than Martin!!!??!?!

Donie worked with Mickey Ned in Limerick and was involved with a no of club sides in Limerick, Clare & Waterford in a coaching capacity. After departing Kerry in 2012, he assisted Crokes in 2013 in their preparations. He has been full time with Mayo since.

Not much talk here about heir apparent Maurice Fitz there may me a misconception here that Maurice is damaged goods now after being involved with what many consider and under achieving previous management I would say Maurice Fitz should be seriously considered as he’s very in tune with the current team and I’d have no doubt he s put winning in front of all else . Why would you look beyond this guy ? The man who won us the 2000 All Ireland for us with some brilliant innovation as the game was going away from us late on in the replay. He s a keen manager and has done a great job with St Marys and more recently has been very close to the front lines with Kerry He’s young enough but old enough too . His fellow townie Peter Keane is certainly doing a brilliant job definitely training his way into the top tier too . Diarmuid is highly touted and I’m sure very good but I don’t see where he has paid his dues in the team management stakes yet Has he managed any team yet on his own as manager club or county ? I would say he should give a few seasons as top manager first even at club level

Éamonn Fitzmaurice’s record was not great prior to becoming Kerry manager. It included a serious hammering by cork at U21 level. jacks last game at u21 level prior to being Kerry manager was a defeat to Waterford. Both of them did ok. Looking solely at the record of managerial achievement to date is too narrow an approach. The best candidate maybe one where the cards just didn’t fall for them in games or they weren’t given sufficient opportunity.

He has a lot to offer and his easy going personality belies a steely determination that those who know him well are familiar with. This man has to have a roll in Kerry football going forward. At the end of the day, Tim Murphy will have the major say in who is going to get the appointment. He is well aware of what Maurice has to offer. If I were a betting man, that’s where I would invest my tuppence.

I know he is still playing but the gooch as forwards coach with the minors and u21s is something id love to see i remember a game against cork when he was only 22/23 and our forwards hadnt been firing 04/05 after half time he had all 6 forwards in a huddle and was doing all the talking needless to say things improved massively in 2nd half.having either or both of those football geniuses involved can only be a good thing for us

Is their any back up to the rumour Donnie Buckley and Jack O Connor have ruled themselves out of running for Kerry coaching positions and Pat Se looks a douth also. Word is most of people mentioned on this forum are doubtful. So with no Jack, no Peter Keane, no Maurice, no Pat Shea, no Donie Buckley, no Liam Kerins, who have we left?
