Youth definitely getting its chance in the game against Donegal - 11/12 of the panel are from the minor winning teams of the last four years. Five starters.
Here's hoping.....

The main thing is to keep the head now if they lose a few games....this is the future and the present.

Wow. I wasnt expecting that many new faces. Really looking forward to Sunday 19 lads unavailable according to a post on twitter a few days ago, all players named and looks like the list was 100% accurate as all of them are not involved in the squad. that means we have around 45-50 players on the panel at the moment. some depth!

Only 6 out of the starting 15 played any part in the championship last year (3 out of the 11 for the subs) - 9 out of the 26 named.
Big games needed from the "experienced guys" - the starters breaks into 3 categories
The experienced guys Shane Enright Paul Geaney Barry John Keane Paul Murphy Stephen O’Brien
Inter-county debutants Shane Murphy Cormac Coffey Michael Burns Sean O Se David Clifford
Fairly recent inter-county debutants Jason Foley Gavin Crowley Ronan Shanahan Jack Barry Brendan O'Sullivan
Fingers crossed for a big crowd to get behind the team.

I heard Eamonn being interviewed on at radio earlier saying basically that they will be picking the team for each game based on who is available and having regard to games lads have played in the Sigerson etc in the days preceding each league game

I really like that half forward line. Players who's instinct is to attack first and defend second. Will be exciting Sunday to see how everyone gets on.

Exciting team selection with a bit of creativity in the selection process Honestly regardless of the result this is a breath of fresh air With a few good tough games under their belt already this past few weeks Donegal should win or at least give us a real test. Either way were being progressive.

Not everyone would have foreseen this from the selectors, brave move for sure. All eyes on the future, let's hope we can survive in division 1.

I heard Eamonn being interviewed on at radio earlier saying basically that they will be picking the team for each game based on who is available and having regard to games lads have played in the Sigerson etc in the days preceding each league game I agree fully with this where young players in the past playing serious college football and then playing inter county the following day in the month of January / Feb were open to burn-out very early in their career's. I'm sure Eamonn is well aware of this though.

Pigskin time. Time to leave the recent past behind and support the young men who will carry the Kerry torch into a potentially exciting future. We need to be patient with these young men and I have every confidence that in due course a new force in Kerry football, capable of taking on the best, will emerge. Anything that this group achieves in the short term should be regarded as a bonus. We have to give them time to take shape and develop to the next level. I think it’s fair to say also that the management needs to up their game too and I believe that they know that.
To me anyway, it feels like one of those pivotal moments in the building of a team where something special might just be possible. I haven’t been as giddy about the prospects since the mid ‘70’s. Looking forward to the journey – Le cúnamh Dé.

With so many out it affords the selectors an opportunity to blood some lads.Even if it means getting relegated let's find out about them. How they cope with the step up in level.I would seem the league a success if we found 2 defenders,a midfielder and 2 forwards. Goalkeeper be interesting to see have we developed a strategy cos we haven't had one.

Great to see the young lads getting game time now. You'd nearly walk to Killarney to see this game. Best of luck to all tomorrow and enjoy the game and keep the heads up.

I don't really expect this to go well. Cool heads will probably be required during the league. These young lads will need a lot of time and understanding to bed in.

A good young team. If I'm honest I don't think we will win as Donegal have already had a few tough games and are gelling well. I'll be very happy when the young guns show stamina and hunger nd come close to winning. I'll be even more happy when we stick with them for a few games, giving them a chance to prove themselves. I'll be ecstatic if they win and win against mayo as well.

Is David Clifford the first Fossa player to play senior with Kerry?

Good call and Dgal will fancy their chances with a few games under their belt, still we have serious class and a home venue will make for as good a League opener as you could imagine. All will be revealed and everyone is getting their chance so arrivers and departers can sort it out on stage and that will give us the best team for big days.
