Puzzling decision in the Div 2 final yesterday. A Galway player won a mark but immediately played on using a handpass. He was then whistled for it and a throw-up awarded.
Is a player not entitled to play on after a catch? If so, why not a handpass? Did the ref get this one wrong or am I just misreading the situation?

Might it have been a free? Have seen it in games where a player thinks they made a mark but the ref is blowing for a free and it leads to confusion.

The player seemed to stop as if he wanted to take the mark, then tried to play on with the hand pass
