I thought it would be appropriate to start a thread about Feile 2016, which takes place next weekend with a huge amount of Kerry clubs hosting visitors. It's a huge event, not just in sporting terms, for all of Kerry, and it has received a fantastic reaction so far - the official launch in Brosna was one of the best and most enjoyable events I have ever attended, it really was a privilege to be there - and the support on the ground has been phenomenal. This is Feile Chairman Tom Keane (also Kerry Coiste na nOg Chairman)'s welcome to the Feile.
"Welcome to the John West Feile na Peil 2016
On behalf of Kerry, and South Limerick, I would like to welcome everybody to the John West Feile na Peil 2016, most especially our enthusiastic young players and mentors representing clubs from all around the globe.
Feile na Peil is a U14 football tournament for boys and girls, but it is not about competition; it is very much focused on celebrating GAA and Irish culture, bringing all the various strands of Irish communities together as one body in a weekend where fun, friendship, and excitement far outweigh any results and it is our intention to honour that ethos. While of course the inculcation and fostering of skills in a safe and welcoming environment has always been a key aim of the GAA, the social aspect is at least as important, if not more so, at Feile.
For the weekend of June 24th to 26th, 125 boys and girls teams will be hosted by 125 Munster clubs, and I and everyone involved would like to take the opportunity to welcome every participant and every supporter to sample the hospitality for which this corner of Ireland is justly famous, and to thank John West for their generous sponsorship.
A huge highlight, aside of course from the rollercoaster of brilliant games, will be the parades on Saturday night, which take place on the Saturday night in Killarney, Tralee, Cahirsiveen, Kenmare, Dingle, Listowel, Newcastlewest, Kanturk, and Carrigaline. These parades are, of course, not merely confined to participating teams and we encourage all other grades and, indeed, community organizations to join in and enjoy the celebrations of our culture and our heritage. The theme of the parades this year is “Friendship and Respect’, to attributes that are absolutely vital for young people to appreciate, and we hope that they will be the abiding memories of everyone who attends the John West Feile 2016.
Féile Peil na nÓg places great emphasis and importance on proper participation, presentation, punctuality and sportsmanship. Féile involves the whole community, clubs, schools, social and cultural groups, families, civic and religious authorities. It is recognised by the GAA as a major festival of great importance for the promotion of football among the youth of our country. Féile Peil na nÓg helps to bond communities, forge friendships, provide educational opportunities and unearth new leaders."
Tom Keane, Chairman Feile Peil na nOg 2016

I have a pdf of all the fixtures from Feile 2016 PRO Colm Kelly but I don't know how to upload a pdf onto a thread. If anyone can talk me through it, I'll make an attempt. Failing that, if anyone wants to pm me an email address, I will forward the email to them. It's a pretty big pdf - lot of games!
I know that St. Pats Blennerville are hosting a parade in the town on Thursday night at 6.00pm and The opening match for Legion at Derreen will see Legion, Crokes, and visitors led onto the field by pipers. They should be two good occasions among many.

Is division 1 made of the county champions of the strong football counties (plus the 8 host clubs)?? i.e. there is not elite feile like last year

Not as far as I can see, Superstar. Public reaction was very negative - even in Kerry you had the anomaly of county winners Dr. Crokes watching Kerry's division two winners Austin Stacks garner national headlines. The original idea had been to try and defuse the 'winning mentality' of a lot of Feile teams and emcouragement more of an inclusive and celebratory atmosphere, but I strongly suspect that a lot of those teams not taking part in the main Feile felt excluded. That's just my own opinion, by the way, I have no inside information on that. Everywhere I have been (I haven't been watching games so much as trying to visit host clubs and get a feel for the occasion) has been fantastic. Teams, our own and visitors, seem to be having a great time. Fixtures today are up on the main site and Crokerman has put up some brilliant highlights clips also.

Well done Castleknock. Fantastic achievement winning Feile Peil with a superb group of footballers. Kudos to New York who didn't make life easy for them in both the group and semi final stages.

Castleknock were very good. The No.8 and No.14 dominated teams. These lads were as big as some Minor players. New York did themselves proud. Castleknock are a coming team in Dublin. They are putting in tremendous work at underage level and they have a fairly big pick to choose from. They were only formed in 1988.

Sorry for the big long post, but with so many Kerry clubs in finals I thought it best rather than singling out any one division. I did note that Fossa and Rathmore had boys and girls teams in finals at different grades, that's some achievement!
Very well done by all involved, including the wonderful visitors to Kerry.

The hospitality shown by the hosting clubs was fantastic. We were hosted in Kilcummen, played in Beaufort, st Senans, st Pats and Mitchells. The kids had a great time. A big thank you to all involved.
The facilities in the various clubs was second to none. We remarked on the quality of all the surfaces we played on.
