Have some in the attic from 70's & 80's -will check them out and let u know if I have any you're missing. They're only gathering dust up there with my long abandoned stamp collection but I find it hard to throw anything out.

there was a thread on here during the early part of the year asking how many midfield partners that Dara o shea has had since he started.
It was the posters only post as far as i know.
Lo and behold............a few weeks later in one of the papers........... there it is............. a big article about Daras midfield partners.............. and not even a thank you given to this forum for providing the info.

Weirdly I'm probably more interested in seeing programmes from our "lean years" of 87 - 96. An awful lot of players pulled on the green and gold in that time and never saw a celtic cross and are therefore forgotten about. We can all rattle off the names of lads who've played in the big games since 97 and even quote golden years teams like the 2 times tables but for me the real nostalgia is being reminded of things you've forgotten. Think of lads like Anthony Gleeson, Sean Burke, Timmy Fleming, Noel O'Mahoney, Connie Murphy, Pa Dennehy or Ken Savage and many many more... Lads who put in the graft but never really got the rewards like our lads today have......Just a thought.

John Cronin ......... and his immortal goal in 1991.
That fallow period was a direct result of new players not being blooded during the golden years era.
Thats why lads like me who lived through the golden years and the period from 87 to 96 are delighted to see Pat o Shea giving Killian Young, Padraid Reidy etc their chance. Hopefully by this time next year Paddy Curran, David Moran and Tommy Walsh and Brendan Guiney will have been given a shot at it too.

Agreed. We were still trying to win Munster Finals in 88 and 89 with almost the same team as 86. It is great to see the young lads brought through and shows one of the main values of the league. To get back to topic....Does anyone have the programme where Eamon Breen's profession was listed as "Plastered"?? All time classic.

That was the 1996 Munster Final in Cork. What a day...The kick start to the Modern Era of Kerry Football.

Maurice kicked kerry into the lead with a massive free at the death. Then Kerry got the insurance point. Who got it?

I have the 75 program, but I'd be wanting something similar in return, such as the 74 program, or 77 ;D

I could swear that the "plastered" programme was the 95 munster final in Killarney when Breen scored a goal early in the game, I think I have the prgramme about somewhere, might have a look over the weekend.
Just a word to anybody thinking of parting with programmes from the 80's and earlier, theres a lot of interest in GAA memorabilia and programmes, ticket studs and so on are fetching a few bob so dont just give them to somebody you dont even know for free.
Re the 96 munster final its on my "to-do" list to contact RTE about getting a copy of the Sunday game.

The Sunday game that day showed all of the Connaught Final and the second half of Kerry V Cork. Maurice didn't even get man of the match. Tony Davis picked it as he was the co. commentator on duty. Pat Spillane had no say in it.

What was so famous about them

The two wides he is talking about is the 2 wides Cork had in the 2nd half of the Munster Championship 1st Round 1992 (24th May to be exact). Cahalane and Fahy missed a penalty each. Kerry won 2-14 to 0-10. It was a brilliant display. But tragedy was only around the corner.

Still, both were great days...... got to pull myself together!
