Conway blow for Lixnaw 01 November 2007
Lixnaw’s hopes of upsetting Clare champions Tulla in Sunday’s Munster club hurling championship first round clash have been dealt a major blow with the news that star forward Michael Conway has been ruled out through injury.
The Kerry hurling ace shattered his wrist in a freak domestic accident last weekend, and there are even fears that the 24-year-old’s playing career could be in jeopardy because of the injury.
Conway was outstanding in Lixnaw’s march to the Kerry SHC title, with his haul of 0-6 in the shock final win over Kilmoyley bringing his championship total to 3-15 for three games. He also shares the free-taking duties with James Flaherty and has been regular on the Kerry senior team since he was 18.
Lixnaw also have concerns over the fitness of county final man of the match Enda Galvin, who has hamstring problems, while former county football star Eamon Fitzmaurice only returns from his honeymoon on Saturday night.

massive loss, have they any chance of winning it on sunday? is it on in kerry? the kerry teams normally get an away game in this, i think ballyduff's home draw last year was one of the few exceptions.

Lixnaw Vs Tulla, Lixnaw at 2.30
Conway was injured in a non-sporting accident and will be ruled out for approx a year due to a shattered wrist.
Lixnaw will be depending on Eamonn Fitz, Paul & Enda Galvin, Pat & Maurice Corridan & Trevor McKenna. Should make a good game.
All support welcome to make Sunday a memorable day for Munster Hurling!!!!!!!!

Why don't the Kerry senior champions enter the Munster intermediate club championship? Some of the weaker counties in Leinster, like Carlow, Wicklow etc enter their teams at this level. Would it not give the Kerry champions some realistic hope of getting a good run going?

Good point, they should give it a try. Might bring some success.
