Kelly accused of fairytale stories
29 October 2007 - Hoganstand
Former GAA President Sean Kelly’s new autobiography has come in for severe criticism from former Ulster Council President Michael Greenan, claiming they are like "Fairytale" stories.
The two clashed on the subject of Rule 42 on numerous occasions which led to Greenan allegedly labelling him Judas at one meeting. Kelly talks about the episode in his book saying he was thinking about whether to "floor him or not".
Speaking to the Irish News, Greenan explained he wasn’t interested in the book.
"I don’t read Sean Kelly’s books, I don’t read books as such - I’m not interested in fairytales either, you know," stated Greenan.
"As I’ve said , I have no interest in fairytales. I have more interest in the Association and where it is going. I believe we should be focussing on the pluses of the association and not the minuses," stated the Cavan native.

" I dont read books as such"
Classic.
I think I would believe Sean Kellys account of events instead of backward staring dinosaurs.

I thin Kelly focussed more on the pluses than the minuses to be fair. The words pot, kettle and black spring to mind when you read what Greenan said

Quote of the year I'd say with: I don’t read Sean Kelly’s books, I don’t read books as such - I’m not interested in fairytales either, you know," stated Greenan. I suppose we're to take him seriously after that.....

Kelly was a great president he had vision and not afraid to allow the GAA to progress unlike some. As for Green I know tha man and belive my rule 42 was not the only thing he had a problem with. I know if he had his was us women would not be let in the door of the association. Now lads I can hear a few comments coming but I warn ye be carefully. Be nice there is room for us all.......

The standard of mots who go to GAA matches has definitely improved in the last few years. Their fellas are very good to let them go.

www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=85296Apparently when you become a chairman in Ulster you end up being easily agitated. If you can't tell the truth in a book then what's the point of it? Of course it would suit these 2 eejits fine. Greenan has also made a shocking comment on Kelly with a comparsion to Judas that shows just how sick this guy is. I won't repeat it here but it's over on gaaboard.com if anybody wants to see it

Sure I suppose the days of the tea & sandwiches are over anyway Joan. Its all lattes and paninis now that cost almost as much as the match ticket! But on a serious note, the GAA as an organisation is slowly moving away from its Male-only ethos - more and more women are involved in club administration which can only be a good thing.

Yes I agree Buck but we are a long way from President in the GAA not not President of da US haha. Here in NY I could take a crack at county chair or any office as the numbers are an issue which you will see in very club and county around Ireland Time and commitment being the soul issue not interest. But once you start looking toward the Dublin jobs they are not ready for us yet but in time it will happen.. Sure who know when I retire back I might give it a rattle....
