goes to show what experts are on this forum! Had to have a quick look through the thread to see if i made any ayward predictions.... thankfully i appear to have kept my mouth shut at that time!! Could have been a large slice of humble pie!!

Yeah the humble pie has been on the menu for me after the last 4 games of last year.... I couldnt forsee the impact at the time, but Jack Connor who managed Kerry to 2 all irelands didnt forsee it either!
Now when Eoin Brosnan starts excelling at full back for Kerry as was suggested here prior to the Dublin game then I'll finally just pull the plug.

Now I dont think that Attackingwingback can claim the credit for that thread. I reckon it was a certain "Lolly Valance", who had backed Donaghy since his U'21 days (for those of the earlier forum members who might remember) that started that thread ........ she no longer posts here since Donaghy became the folk hero he now is. It looks like Lolly's posts were removed from that thread - if you look at a few replies it mentions here name........ Correct me if I'm from AWB!!

Maybe we should be thanking billy curtin and eoin moynihan from the rock for trying him there, it was obvious after the stacks strand rd championship game 2 yrs ago that he was well able to perform in the full forward berth

More people claimed to have come up with the idea of playing Donaghy at full-forward than claimed to be in the GPO during the 1916 rising or in Thomand Park in 1978.

I think the day after the Cork game (prior to the forum being shut down - there is a thread there somewhere still), a lot of people here picked the team for the Longford game with Donaghy full forward, me included but that was out of desperation after seeing the total lack of pattern to our forward play that was much in evidence during the Munster campaign last year. However the original thread dated to May 06 and at that stage I dont think many people agreed with the suggestion.....

we can only wonder what would have happened if he was on against tyrone in 05 He'd a been skinned and never played for Kerry again i think ur wrong there caus 6 months later he was immense in d league fetching all around him with dara. udont become a great player over night he would have been a better try than a very raw darren o sullivan. who would have skinned him by d way? joe mcmahon who was fairly well beaten by our centre forward brosnan. i think d main reason was jack didnt want to b seen to change tactics and that he was right and we were wrong. he onlly changed his ways in july 06

In fairness it was Darren's first senior game and he actually nearly dragged Kerry back into it. If you remember reading Jack's book he went on a big training program over the winter of 2005 with Pat Flanagan so that obviously brought him on a ton.

The basketball is in DCU at 8pm Saturday. I saw today in the indo that they are both meant to be playing alright. Stacks V Strand Rd on sunday in Tralee Town Cup or something like that (what sort of competition is that)

Micheal Quirke wasnt playing in DCU tonight. He has gone to Chicago with the Sam Maguire for a bit of a skite. That presumably means he wont be lining out for Strand Road tomorrow.
Donaghy played well for Tigers to keep their 100% record, not that I know anything about basketball but it was an entertaining game

Donaghy sent off for Stacks yesterday - thats at least 3 sendings off this year, I'm sure Mickey Harte is taking note.

i'd have no fear for kieran once the white hot heat of championship battle commences. He has come through the second year syndrom with flying colours,i watched the all-ireland final last week again,he was truely outstanding for kerry on the edge of the square v cork as was he v dublin in the semi final.
I look forward to watching him bring fullforward play to a new level next summer.
