Can anyone tell me the reason for Gavan Gradys absence from the panel? I have great time for the Glenbeigh footballer nd I thought on the evidence of last season he was essential to Kerry juniors quest for silverware.

Looks like there will be a bigger crowd this Saturday than last Sunday. Only tickets available now are Upper Davin, Upper Hogan and Terrace. I am looking forward to seeing some of this team who hopefully will move to senior in the coming years. I was very impressed with the performance of Jack McGuire in the Sigerson final, thought that day he looked like another Tom O'Sullivan. Also it is great to see the 2 Spa men O'Donoghue and Kearney. When Kearney came on as a sub in the minor semi final he changed the trend of the game but he did not settle at full forward in the final. Then of course there is Cox, the Templenoe trio and the of course the experience of Walsh. It will be a great experience to play in Croke Park and hope some of them will get an appetite to play there again.

I think McGuire has the best chance of making it in the Backs. Kerry will give him a look at Full Back in next years League I think. He could jump ahead of Griffin in the pecking order. It could well be O'Mahonys last year so we will need to look at full backs in the league. Crowley and Culhane are other possibilities too. Thoms Hickey will probably get a look and maybe Cox. I can't really see anyone else getting called for next year anyway. Shane Murphy possibly if they want to rotate Keepers.

Let's take one game at a time and hopefully get win here Versus Mayo Great to hear of the good prospects for the future here on the junior panel none better than young Culhane who Imo could play at the top level even this year if the rules allow. Good defenders are rare but I think this fella is top notch .

There is a big difference between Sigerson Cup in February and inter county football in the summer.
Best of luck to the Juniors, will be tuned into Radio Kerry to hear the world record attempt at the most times the word "there" is said in 60 minutes.

Culhane and Walsh at a minimum to get a run in the NFL.I was disappointed with the timing of their exit last year, but as other posters said,we will need to unearth options for the FB line.

Well done to the kerry juniors today. Sorry if this seems like a silly question but just in after a night on the tiles. Anyway would the kerry juniors beat the westmeath senior team or that of the other weaker counties. I personally think that there wouldn't be much in it either way. Just goes to show the gulf in class in different counties. Any taughts?

This has been a really great junior team, a great blend of talent and attitude. I think that the focus on their young age overshadows their talent in most reports (Wexford gave Kerry their toughest game, a real cracker - Wexford finished with four 2015 minors on the field). I wouldn't like to see a 'Kerry B' team in any revised championship format - schedules are bulging at the seams as it is at both inter-county and club level, with constant friction between the two as it is. I certainly think that committed challenge games between junior teams from counties with big panels to draw from would certainly benefit both sides, but I believe that challenge games are part of any team's internal development and I am reluctant to report on them; I believe that's something for managers to consider. For all I know, that may happen regularly anyway. But certainly, without any disrespect intended, I would not see a major gulf in standard between this Kerry junior team and a number of senior inter-county teams. If the regulations allowed - which they don't - I'd like to see Kerry and Cork field junior teams in the McGrath Cup; I believe that would open up a competition that I currently have no great interest in as it stands.

Kerry cruise past Mayo to clinch All-Ireland junior football crown at Croke Park
Thomas Hickey’s goal has helped push the Kingdom clear at the break.
Kerry 2-18 Mayo 0-10
Fintan O’Toole reports from Croke Park KERRY CLAIMED THEIR second All-Ireland junior football crown in four years with a hugely impressive display against Mayo in Croke Park this afternoon. Thomas Hickey thumped home a goal three minutes before half-time after a terrific run forward by captain Alan O’Donoghue to send Kerry into a comfortable lead at the midway mark. Hickey added his second goal in the 37th minute with a brlliant deft chip over the goalkeeper after again being fed by a pass from O’Donoghue. That strike essentially finished the game as a contest with Hickey ending up with 2-4 to his name while corner-forward colleague O’Donoghue bagged 0-4. David Culhane and Eoin O'Donoghue Kerry's David Culhane and Mayo's Eoin O'Donoghue Source: James Crombie/INPHO Kerry were ahead 1-9 to 0-6 at the interval but Mayo rallied before the break as they reeled off four points without reply. Substitute Andrew Farrell, who missed the semi-final against Kilkenny due to injury, made a real impression when he came on and finished with 0-5 to his credit. Kerry were grateful to a pair of outstanding saves either side of the break from goalkeeper Shane Murphy to prevent Darren McHugh and Andrew Farrell from raising green flags. At the other end Kerry were extremely clinical and Hickey’s second goal pushed them ahead by 2-11 to 0-6.
Stephen Wallace’s side continued to pour forward with ten players ending up on the scoresheet and there were strong displays all over the pitch from the likes of Dan O’Donoghue, James Walsh, Liam Kearney and Brian Crowley to establish their dominance. By the third quarter mark Kerry were ahead by 13 points and they had stretched 17 clear with ten minutes left on the clock. Mayo did manage to grab late consolation points from Declan Healy, Michael Togher and Cathal Freeman but ultimately they could not quell Kerry’s power.
