He has made full recovery and has played reserved team football for the Swans during the summer. The news he is coming has been strongly intimated, but the author of this thread seems to know more concrete details so like A.N requested, could vee see ze papers please?

"Aidan O'Mahony here, and I say noooooooooooooooooooooo!" lol I completely agree! Fingers crossed said Aidan will be back again in the full back line in 2015. Something tells me that he will go on this incredible high and pass the baton to the new guns. That look he had as he lay on the hallowed turf of Croke Park would suggest to me that this is it for him. What a servant.

Would he fit in at full back? food for thought! vacancies may be at the back if Marc and Aidan retire. Tommy's dad made a good fist of becoming a full back in his mid to later career! upfront competition will be very hot for places with Gooch back and maybe a bolter from this years minors. He a real option at midfield as well. these days I feel you kind of need 3 midfielders to see out a game

He had a look of a man who was just laying there thinking that he's going to really take this moment in and savour it as it will more than likely be his last. Hope I'm proved wrong though

Maybe when he gets an All Star he might realise he can keep on going. But who could blame him if he called it a day.

where exactly would Tommy fit in, center forward?
with Declan perhaps retiring, maybe he could take that role in the squad - he played midfield for the minors in 2006, so i guess he can have a role further out, thought its been 5 years since he played top level GAA so his game could be completely changed since then.

He did all his damage that year coming onto the ball late from the wings. I think tyrone easily accounted for the "twin towers" strategy that year but with walsh on the wing it MIGHT have been a different story.

From 8 in ASC order, too young to defensive deployment bar catastrophic injury list. Maher might make a fine full back, tackling is now much improved

I always preferred him a bit out the field - while acknowledging the terrific display from the corner in the 09 final. He did a lot of damage in 08 with direct running which as you say we ought to have used more in the final that year. You would imagine wing forward might suit him best especially as the modern wing forward is expected to play anywhere and everywhere. It's also how we used Tadgh when he returned in 09.

Tommy can play anywhere from 8 to 15. He also wouldn't do a bad job as 3rd sweeper

Tommy and David in midfield would be some combination alright (2 narries!), but Maher is undropable when on form. He even proved undropable when off form.
Tommy is a great option to have back but of course he will have to prove himself like any other lad.
If O'Mahoney does decide to retire (I hope he doesn't) then Mark Griffin would be an obvious choice for the FB position. Thought he did very well when he came on against Mayo.

The Swans reserve team lost their Grand Final in the NEAFL last week. If anyone has 2 hours to spare (!) you can watch the game here According to the end of the season review on the club website ( www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2014-09-16/2014-neafl-season-wrap ), this is how Tommy fared... "Tommy Walsh Tommy returned mid-season after almost a year in rehab after tearing his hamstring off the bone in a senior game last year. He was a little rusty to start with before finding a home in the back line where his combination of aggressive spoiling and a good ability to read the ball in the air helped the defence become the number one ranked in the competition". The Swans AFL team have the real Grand Final this Saturday morning against Hawthorn, so I'd imagine they won't make any announcement on who they'll be letting go until next week at the earliest.

I asked last night was this confirmed because I heard from a Narrie above in Dublin the weekend that he may not be coming home as of yet. And may still get another contract in Oz.

Would he fit in at full back? Tommy could be a blanket defence all by himself.

Tommy must update us and the fine GAA clan they are, he will. We don;t want Aussie boyos belittling us like they did with Tadhg, until we squared up to them.

www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/tommy-walsh-poised-for-return-to-kerry-643018.html"The Kerins O'Rahilly's club man is currently playing with the Sydney Swans in the AFL and has been offered a contract extension." It has shades of Tadhg about it. Will he, won't he...... Wouldn't say anything is a given until we see him togged out for Kerry. Contract extension of 3 years is apparently not what Tommy wanted so expect him back in a couple of weeks!

Eamonn Fitz said in an interview last week that he expected Tommy back. I doubt he'd have said that unless he'd spoken to him and he was sure of it.
