In the lead up to the final I find myself doing things like digging out Kerrys Golden Years. I know there have been threads in the past about how we could do with a Golden Years 2 DVD. It seems unlikely to materialise.
I was thinking that if RTE showed repeats of the Sunday Game it would be cheap for them to do, and would certainly have an audience. They could do it during the summer, just pick an arbitary year and then show 'The Sunday Game 1987' or whatever on a Friday evening, after the GAA magazine show.
There have been reports over the years of RTE having wiped loads of stuff, but I suspect their GAA archive is in good condition, as they always seem to be able to bring up old clips.
I personally would love to see highlights of the QF v Galway and the SF v Cork from 2002.

Good idea and would be better than some of the old sheet that RTE continuously show! Some DVD's of old games are available here... I have got DVD's off them in the past and are reasonably priced (and no I am not on commission!) www.thegaastore.com/en/GAA-DVDs/c-2423.aspx?SortBy=Price

But almost all finals. The good thing amount re-showing the Sunday Game is that most counties could expect to feature over the course of a summer of repeats. Also, highlights can be preferable to a full game. ITV4 show re-runs of The Big Match, which featured highlights of English league games. Part of the fun is seeing how styles of presenting and punditry change. The first analyst I remember on the Sunday game was Enda Colleran.

As I remember it, "Inda"s analysis seemed to consist mainly of the phrase "twas a very poor game, Michael"

Seriously though, it's a good point. Why isn't all the archive stuff freely available, either or RTE player or on the internet ? It's not like RTE ever show much of it, or have it for sale for that matter, so what's the point of having it locked up ? This is our sporting heritage and it's our money that paid for it.

I think RTE in general don't make enough of their archive. There is some very good stuff in the vaults which they won't repeat. And yet, they repeat absolute dross. With dramas, I think repeat fees to the actors is what makes them recluctant to run repeats.
That of course wouldn't apply to The Sunday Game (if they did need to shell out to the GAA to repeat the Sunday Game I couldn't imagine it would be much).

Great idea, I would love to see old games...but this is RTE we're talking about!!! The Kerry v Mayo replay wasn't up on the site long (if at all!!!) before it was taking down.
Probably going to have to hope Tg4/TnaG come through for us again!

Just in case anyone would be interested, there is an RTE Archives Vine account that publishes short clips from all sorts of archived material that throws up an occasional gem, e.g. this one this morning: vine.co/v/OalpZpU6ij7
