Just looking at the future how does it look for Kerry . Although we have won nothing at Underage Level some of our young players are coming along nicely . Brian Kelly , Paul Murphy , Stephen O'Brien and Paul Geaney were great the last day . We have found 4 new players this year and that's not bad if you could do that every year we would be doing alright . I don't know if we will win it or not this year but it is important to keep bringing players through every year . Looking at some of the other young players in the County which players is likely to make it . Looking at Goalkeepers Shane Murphy is one of the best in Kerry also Shane Ryan looks like he will be good . Looking at backs Fergal McNamara , and Gavin Crowley looks like they could make it . Hard to know with Kieran Murphy he can be hot and cold . Conor Cox , James Walsh and David Culhane are still young and they might get another look next year . Conor Keane looks really impressive and I think he will be on the panel next year . Gavan O'Grady also looks promising . Thomas Hickey and Shane O'Callaghan are other candidates . I think our biggest problem in the future will be a Full Back and a Midfielder . It has been like that for a long time and I don't see it changing anytime soon .

Sheehan and Maher put paid to the last conversation we had on having no Mid Fielders. 4 rookies coming through is great and with an improving development system it is Kerry abu!

Speaking of fullbacks – in my opinion we haven’t produced a natural full back since Paud O’Donoghue and his last game was in 1974 – 40 years ago. I am not sure even if he was a natural full back because football at that time was not as structured as it became afterwards. Barry O’Shea is possibly an exception. In that time we have won 14 All-Irelands. I thought Griffin was shaping up to make the position his own but that seems to have changed. I was glad to see him getting the so much game time at fullback in the league and would not blame him at all for Hurley scoring so much in the Cork game.
Over the years some of the greatest outfield players to ever grace Croke Park have filled the fullback position for Kerry – John O’Keeffe, Sean Walsh, Seamus Moynihan.

What the * is a natural full back and give examples from other counties.
It is starting to sound like "If Lehmann Brothers didn't fail...".

Reilly not near as good as the other too though Gerry Hargan, Dermot Deasy, Paddy Christie all Dublin and amazingly Ballymun Kickkams. You could add Rory O'Carroll

Sean Walsh possibly the most amazing given that he started out as a super sub in the forwards! Barry O'Shea was a specialist man in fairness. He was very solid in 1997.

John O'Keeffe was one of the best, just leave out the display in 1980 when Matt Connor gave him a lesson. Anyway getting "a lesson" off Matt Connor in 1980 isnt exactly all that much in the way of criticism, given how supremely talented Connor was as a footballer and the form he was in that year. He scored 5-31 in 4 championship games in 1980, [and a whopping 22-135 in 29 games] in 1980 and his overall career total was 38 goals and 383 points, which considering his career ended when he was 25 and the fact that there was no qualifiers is just an absolutely wreckless haul. He was just a scoring machine.
