I'm tipping Gneeveguilla to go far this year. The squad is apparently craving a return to senior championship, so their focus will be primarily geared toward the intermediate

Looking at the draw I would doubt that Waterville and Ardfert will even come out of the 1st round let alone win it.St Marys or Listowel Emmets would be my tips for glory

1ST ROUND DRAW: Listowel Emmets v Keel John Mitchels v Skellig Rangers Gneeveguilla v An Ghaeltacht Castlegregory v Spa Glenflesk v Annascaul Ardfert v St Mary's Kenmare v Finuge Castleisland Desmonds v Waterville These are just my opinions we all have our own ideas and most of the time there wrong but here goes. Listowel an average team at best but one forward who is not bad but can score frees so don't give them away keel. There run in the junior will effect them so Listowel to win by the bear minimum. John Mitchell who have a very young attacking team but manager holds them back a small bit I think if he left them off the leases a small bit he might get better results. Skelig have put a few good seasons in and should have done better carrying a few older players should be good enough if they go for it this year but could get caught by emigration again but Skelig to win. Gully gully have a nice team but it's an aging team the guy in charge shouldn't be in charge of any team. Full stop. Ghealtacht have a lot of young players coming through and a bit disappointed that Tomas didn't give the club one year after all the football he missed over the years for the club. Should be a good game. Castle a bit out of there dept in this composition here, so a putting big effort in again with Sean and will be at the latter end of this if they keep everyone fit. Glenflesk another team that should be playing junior. Annascaul another team on the downward but should win this one. Ardfert would have been one to watch until two weeks ago when I see who is appointed as manager so very surprised if they do anything now. Mary's a massive footballing team on there day and Maurice should get a little extra out of them so fancy a Mary's win here. Kenmare a nice footballing side again after a slump of the all Ireland should very back this year. Fingue could win this game or they could lose this fame or draw this game so find out from them what the result is. Desmond's have a good team with good forwards but will be hit hard with emigration this year so might be a tough opener for them also no manager appointed yet which us a total disgrace for a team who were promoted last year. Waterville again fine team on there day but gave put two hard years down now so year 3 might be a push for them but I'd say a water win. It's a wide open championship but Mary's spa water all could gave a cut this year if they put the effort in ardfert were one of my favorites but since there new appointee say good luck to that trophy.

Does anyone know whether the new rules effect cards been carried into extra time, for example a player on Saturday was sent off in Extra time picking up a second yellow after he got the first in normal time. I think previously this wouldn't have resulted in a red.

I think previously this wouldn't have resulted in a red. That has always been the case. Yellow cards carry over to extra time. It's a bit unfair in that a team who has a person sent off in normal time gets to replace him for extra time but a player can still be put off for a 2nd yellow.

Home advantage is huge in this so I see Listowel, Gneeveguilla and Kenmare coming through.. Kenmare look like the team to beat in this years championship

Finuge were very poor in that All Ireland final. Not even a freetaker. It didnt say much for the standard in Kerry.

The 2 favourites knocked out by two hurling clubs!! Its not a good sign for football. Mickmack that is a wreckless and sensationalist statement and I demand that you withdraw it at your earliest convenience. Finuge are a Division 1 side in the Co. League. They were promoted as Champions and it might not have come to your attention that a former player of the year happens to play for them on the odd occasion. Kenmare could not be fancied for this competition. They don't seem to have improved since they won the Munster Junior Championship in 2012 and contested the All Ireland Junior Football Championship Final in 2013. The won 5 games in Division 2 last year when people were expecting a bit more. St. Mary's beat Listowel Emmets in last years Semi Final by a solitary point that was scored in injury time. They were well held in the Final by Currow. In actual fact St. Mary's beat Ardfert in Ardfert 1-08 to 0-08 on 30th March in Division 3 of County League so there probably isn't a whole lot between the sides (now the point here is that they are both Division 3 sides that can box above their weight when the mood takes them). The Intermediate Championship is a very open competition this year. Last year a Division 2 and a Division 3 side contested the Final. This year there are 2 Division 1 sides left, 4 Division 2 sides and 2 sides from Division 3.
