Good 1st round wins for Kenmare, Legion, Desmonds, Tarbert and Glenbeigh / Glencar. Interesting to see Darran O'Sullivan line out at centre back in their game. A few early round wins very important in this division. Hope all the county lads came through their games injury free.

Pa White is just recoving from a hamstring injury that has hampered his performance these past two week which was the main reason for the hammering again Legion. Pa left last summer to pursue work in Boston but to no avail , and injury prevented him making Shannon Gaels Seniors over there. This year he is focused on Desmonds with an eye to the Kerry Juniors as well. Unlucky not to have made a Inter-County team in the past.

Went to see tarbert and mitches the weekend expecting a lively encounter..the 1st half was decent enough football but that all changed in the 2nd half the mitchels ran riot with alan o donoghue pulling the strings and also the attacking wing backs for mitchels were very impressive..brian costello dominated midfield..! Tarbert looked very unfit compared to mitchels!!In fairness i was told by a veteran tarbert supporter that they were missing 3 starting players from there game against skellig which included shane enright..i also noticed ambrose lanigan on d sideline in a cast, the former kerry junior will be a huge loss for tarbert if hes out for a long spell.. If the michels can keep up with this brand of football they will be pushing for promotion this year!

Legion had another good win against a committed Laune Rangers team, a tough physical game that will stand to them. Big game away to Kenmare next week.

Listry had big win against Kenmare and that was some trouncing Glenbeigh gave Tarbert. Thats three weeks in a row now Glenbeigh have hammered opposition.
Here's a very unbiased report of the match I came across on the Kenamre Facebook Page!!
SFL div 2 Kenmare 0-15 Listry 2-11 First things first...when is a rule not a rule? When the GAA bring it in of course! It is frustrating though, four rugby tackles, three on Stephen O’Brien and one on Kevin O’Sullivan and it produces four yellow cards. So good-bye to cynical fouls then. Well no not quite. Baffling and frustrating, not the reason we lost but it did not help. We probably did not make hay in the first half (not that the sun was shining or that you’d be able to make hay with the head frozen off you). Paul O’Connor, Stephen O’Brien and Alan O’Leary got our first three points, Listry hitting two in reply but we were on top, running at them and opening them up. On fifteen minutes Paul O’Brien produced a piece of sublime skill and we really didn’t get the benefit of it. He came out with his defender and at the last second let the ball go through his legs, spun around losing his marker and dinked the ball up at full tilt and buried into the roof of the net. Sorry no. Brought back for a free for a slight push on O’Connor, so no advantage (a rule change needed perhaps?) but he pointed the free. Two minutes later Stephen O’Brien showed his phenomenal pace covering half the pitch before being wrestled to the ground (yellow card). Paul pointed again. Listry produced a good spell to bring the sides level when the game took another turn. Alan O’Leary was felled in the small rectangle (no card of any description) and Paul O’Connor had his penalty saved. Listry followed that up by taking the lead but when Stephen O’Brien tried to burst through on the Listry goal on 29 minutes he was unceremoniously hauled down (yellow card) and Paul again pointed the resultant free. All square at half time, 0-6 apiece. The second half as close with fine points from Shane Dalton and Kevin O’Sullivan augmenting hard work at the back but on 50 minutes a loose kick-out ended up with Listry pouncing for a goal. That put them 1-11 to 0-11 ahead and we were chasing now. Two points from Paul O’Connor and a well worked point from Shane O’Sullivan brought us level with four minutes remaining but we had left ourselves thin at the back in order to push level and we were caught for another goal. Another rugby tackle (yellow) and another free but this time Paul had to go for goal and it was tipped up and over for a point leaving two between the sides and the game and the points were gone. ‘There’ll be days like this,’ nail on the head Van. Kenmare: Ciaran Fitzgibbon; Stephen O’Shea, Tommy O’Sullivan, Enda Crowley; Gavin O’Shea, Dara Crowley, Sean o’Leary; Shane Dalton (0-1), Kevin O’Sullivan (0-1); Fionan O’Sullivan, Mark Crowley, Alan O’Leary (0-1); Shane O’Sullivan (0-1), Stephen O’Brien (0-2), Paul O’Connor (0-9, 0-7fs). Subs: Paddy O’Dwyer.

There is a huge inconsistency with referees regarding black cards; I attended the Rahillys/Foilmore game last night and there were 4 instances where a black card should have been issued but they were all yellows! On the other hand in a match a few weeks ago the referee produced a black card for a "body collision" where the recipient was running backwards and collided with an opponent! The referee adjudged this to be deliberate! The black card was always going to be contentious and will be more so I am afraid as the championship unfolds.

It wasn't a report on the match at all, just a rant about the referee and an attempt to conjure up any other kind of excuse for a loss. It's best in these situations for people to wait until the next day to write the match report, or just stick to teams and scorers rather then going into biased detail that does none any good. Fair play to Listry, have made huge progress over the past few years and are more than holding their own in division 2.

Yeah it was always going to head this way, incidents in National League, and Hogan cup final. It'll quickly unravel completely soon into the championship causing even more problems/arguments then we had before it was introduced.

It certainly doesn't help when you have referees telling players before matches that they don't believe in the black card.

in the kerryman notes after the defeat to finuge the kenmare writer also complained about the rugby tackles on their star players. the black cards are supposed to eliminate this type of fouling , but being new some referees think that they are a new fad for the benefit of televised games and not for ordinary club matches and could end up with the same fate as the sin binning. as for kenmare they should concentrate on playing whats in front of them and stop complaining,10 minutes into every game u will know what goes with the ref and play accordingly

I was an interested spectator in Tarbert Sunday to see the home team come out on top against Listry by 0-11 to 0-8. I can tell you that Tarbert haven't been hit as hard in years. Some ferocious banging went on. Most of it good hard stuff but in truth some of it was borderline at best. There were casualties on both sided, I saw one Listry player coming off with blood showing and talking to a Tarbert official Sunday evening there count was minor Andrew Docherty off before half time after a blow to the head and a visit to south doc as a precaution. Jason Wren went on the same journey after the game to recieve seven stitches to an eye wound, accompanied by Patsy O'Connell who got a cut to the bridge of his nose taped up. Tarbert, with Shane Enright forced to twiddle his thumbs after climbing a mountain yesterday with Kerry and Ambrose Lanigan nursing an ankle knock, had to dig very deep to wrestle the initiative from Listry in the second half. Listry were good value for their one point lead at half time and extended it to two straight after the break. The turning point was a brilliant save by Micheal Carrig in the Tarbert goal shortly afterwards. That would have put five points between the sides, with surely no way back for the home team. Gradually Tarbert, aided by some uncompromising resistance from a midfield bolstered by big Donal Leahy, along with Kevin Enright and John O'Connell, got a foothold and turned the game around.Hard earned scores from the likes of Ger O'Sullivan,John Kelleher and Patsy O'Connell pushed them over the line. With Listry's progress in the club championship giving them a real lift they will be a handfull for any club in division two who go into combat with them without their seat belts fastened. Tarbert must have felt they were after playing a north Kerry championship game, such was the intensity of the challenge they had to withstand. Well played both teams.

laune rangers position near the bottom of the league must be a cause of concern, only on 2 points. very unlucky as 1 score in all their games would have made a huge difference to them [ -5 scoring difference after 5 games]. now facing into games without peter crowley , their luck would want to change fast or be involved in relegation battle.

It would be inexplicable to think that Killirglin & Listowel wouldn't have the resources to amass ten or so points, thereby maintaining their respective divisional status.

Have won 3/5 so far and still 3 home games to come. I don't think the division will be as tight as last year when it was deperate tight, so 9/10 points could be enough to stay up..have 6 already.

Some strange results Kenmare beat Glenbeigh, Glenbeigh hammer Tarbert, Listry beat Kenmare and Tarbert beat Listry. At the moment the only team that are sure of div 1 status are Legion cant see anyone beating them, it's up for grabs then between Desmonds, Kenmare & Glenbeigh to see who joins them. St Pats will take points from teams at home , they have been narrowly beaten in two games at home so far but still a tough place to go.

Some result by Desmond's this evening. 2-21 to 1-7 over Kenmare. Club haven't been at the levels of previous generations but an almost certain return to Div 1 is a step in the right direction.

Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-15 Spa 0-14 Big win for Glenbeigh still 4 teams fighting for third spot, Gneeveguilla have come from nowhere, Kenmare still there and outside bet Mitchels who like Gneeveguilla have all of a sudden jumped into the picture.

Was at spa / legion game. Spa kicked legion out there own gates today and they were not happy at all. LEGION without James o donoghue / Kevin breen and jonathan lyne came on early in second half. Spa looked like a very fresh pacey team, good work being done there. Andrew Garnett beat lucey well in midfield and his partner fynn was excellent too.It seemed legions management werent so pleased after the game
