If Galvin plays against Dublin he's not going to be 100%, that shoulder injury will take more than 2 weeks to heal. You can be sure it'll be "tested" very early by Paul Casey or his likes.

Galvin may miss out
By Brendan Larkin KERRY’S All-star attacker Paul Galvin is battling to be fit for the Kingdom’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Dublin on August 26.
Galvin aggravated a shoulder injury in the narrow victory over Monaghan and was wearing a sling in the aftermath of the game.
The Finuge man, an All-Ireland medal winner in 2004 and 2006, underwent a scan yesterday which revealed muscle damage and not structural damage as was first feared.
However, manager Pat O’Shea is hugely concerned about the availability of the tenacious wing forward.
Admitted O’Shea “With just two weeks to the semi-final it’s an anxious time for Paul and the rest of the squad.
“Shoulder injuries are notoriously slow in healing.
Defender Padraig Reidy was limping with a slight hamstring twinge. However, he is expected to make a quick recovery.
Kerry will return to training tonight.

he's a massive player for us,the amount of breaks he picks up alone could be the difference between winning and loosing a match.

Anyone, got the latest update on this? Agree with above comments, Galvin would be a massive loss, particularly against Dublin where winning our share of the breaks will be vital. We have an awful lot of nice ball players in the half-forward line - starting and on the bench but there isn't a better dirty ball winner than Paul. The bravest of the brave.
ps: fingers crossed for Paul Galvin.

Heard on the news that he had a scan on his shoulder, turns out its nothin more than a bit of bruising and he'll be fine for the Dubs.

yeah that was rte and they're notoriously unreliable. The full results on the scan aren't known yet according to radio kerry, there's no break but there could be other damage to it.

If its ligaments or anything like it then it will take a long time to heal. The worst thing about this publicity is that he will surely be tested out early in the dublin game.

The Kerryman today Pat O Shea states that:
"there was no damage, no dislocations, no breaks and no tears to ligaments..........we'd ne hopeful we'd be able to have him available"
Good news then or a cover up I wonder?

I find it hard to belive. Paul is not the kind of player to over play injuries and he was in obvious pain. Smoke screen by Pat to keep the dubs planning for him before he unleashes Sean Ban?

True Seamus but if there is no ligament damage then he has a chance, however there is muscle damage at the least and this will seriously curtain his abaility to catch and pick up breaks, given the hits that he'll receive picking up breaks. Who knows, a few days of physio, a few days of building it up and strapping it for the game, he might make it but I'm not so sure.

Maybe we wouldn't be worrying as much about Galvins injury if hte dideline had acted quicker?

If the guy isn't fit he shouldn't play. This is no time to gamble. Mgt need to make the right decision here, it could be crucial.

There is consistent sniping about Management on this Board. The one person who knew the degree to which he was incapacitated was Galvin himself. Now, that worries me.

Players will always want to play. Sometimes mgt need to protect players from themselves.

Dublins two wing backs are not tight marking. It will be a big blow but not a total catastrophe if Galvin cant play. We will obviously lose somethings in terms of breaks and aggression, but perhaps Paul Casey would prefer to be marking Paul Galvin in the middle of all the bodies in the middle of the field than having to mark and chase Sean Sullivan who will stick close to the sidelines and run at his man.
Kerry have won games without Darragh and Seamus in the past, we can also win without Galvin. It'll make the job more difficult but we could still do it.

He seemed to hurt it before half time,so maybe they decided to wait and see if he'd recover after the break. He then got hit hard again in the second half which was maybe the straw that broke the camels back,so to speak. We all know Paul has a tremendous will to win so he wouldn't want to leave the field and maybe the mgt were hoping he'd shake off the injury.None of us are privy to the goings on in the dressing room at half time,it's possible that it was decided to give paul 10/15 mins to shake off the injury then if he isn't right take him off.

I think he would be a huge loss to us. Agree we have played and won with Seamus and Dara and we have a ton of talent on the bench but I happen to think he is the fire and the bottle every team needs...
