Dublin need 8 points (i.e. 4 more) to pretty much guarantee a semi-final spot which I'm sure they'll easily manage from 3 games. By the ways Rashers, where's the reservoirdubs site gone? Did someone forget to put money in the meter? But two games away to Mayo and Cork, can't guarantee wins there! Website still there Joe, yis won't get rid of us that aisy! - www.reservoirdubs.com/forum/http://www.reservoirdubs.com/forum/Though I would love to have said something like, "We disbanded it, our mission was complete" Your mission should you choose to accept it is to win back-to-back All-Irelands!

A disappointing result for Mayo at the weekend, with the big three of Cork, Kerry and Dublin to come they will struggle to find points. Of course, if Kerry, as expected, beat Laois on Sunday, their final game will be a dead rubber as far as Kerry are concerned.
Armagh are struggling also, Down fought for their division one status last Sunday and look to have secured it with victory in Newry.
In division 1B, Kildare twice pulled well clear of Louth, only to let Louth back into the game. When Daryl Flynn and Johnny Doyle went off they lost their way a little. They had 12 wides to Louth's 4 and dominated the game for long periods, yet only won by a couple in the end. Qualification is now in their hands and victories over Westmeath and Galway should see them into the final against Tyrone. Neither game will be easy, then again Kildare rarely make things easy for themselves.
Should Tyrone and Kildare be promoted, division 1A will be something to savour next season.

Hearsay is inadmissable rashers Is this? Here's some comments from people at the game: "As for Mr C Reilly from Meath - what a performance! His first half display was appalling. He didn't have a clue what was going on or what to do other than if in doubt penalise Dublin and if the Down crowd shouted loud enough book a Dublin player, any Dublin player. The referee aside that display today was not worthy of any team calling itself All Ireland champions! That might sound very harsh but if we play like that against any serious team we will get beaten out the gate." "We've no midfielders-period. We won an All Ireland without a midfield. I don't want to insult any of them but Bastick, MDMA, Fennell and Mc Connell can show some good qualities periodically but they are a good bit off county standard. On a positive note, Cooper did ok today but he is a super footballer, watched him during the Sigerson this year and he is the real deal. He is a far better footballer than Mc Carthy and can see him replacing McC." "To many players were below par today. Down played out of there skins . We looked like we had just come out of a hard training session . Reilly was poor hard to understand how down were allowed to tackle with such force and aggression yet Dublin were blown up for only a fraction of it. Alan brogans yellow card was a disgrace . Down player had him in a choke hold on the ground yet Al gets booked." "With Down being more up for it ment their tackles where better timed, agree with you on Alan Brogan, their centre back spent a lot of time trying to puck the head off AB and after the choke hold their corner had the neck to complain to the umpire in fairness to the ref the niggly stuff was sorted out by the bookings." But will Aiden Brannigan, the Down player in the picture, get any retrospective punishment? It's not the first time by far I've seen this kind of thing go unpunished. At least twice last year in the All-I knockout phase there were incidents.

Wins for Dublin & Armagh this evening with a heavy defeat for Meath in Omagh. Banty must be approaching the tight rope in Meath and the sharp knifes!

Tyrone are flying. They will be a serious threat this year. Peter Harte must be the most in form player in the country.

Great win for us tonight, especially with injuries and minus the Cross lads.
We need to avoid defeat in Donegal now to stay up. Easier said than done...

Wins for Dublin & Armagh this evening with a heavy defeat for Meath in Omagh. Banty must be approaching the tight rope in Meath and the sharp knifes! A manager can only work with what he's got. They just don't have the players. A daring £50m capture of Declan O'Sullivan is what they need!

Cork came from behind to win with a late flurry of scores in Castlebar . More pressure on Mayo.

We were pretty dire again yesterday. The first 50-55 minutes was similar to the Kerry match last week. I'd say the Collins sending off didn't help matters, but in truth I don't think it made a whole pile of difference. Mayo carried the ball out of defence a little bit easier but other than that the extra man wasn't all that evident. The positives I wouild take would be an impressive overdue start for Seán Kiely in the half back line and the leadership from Paul Kerrigan on his introduction. One thing for sure is that Counihan has moulded a team that will never throw in the towel, no matter how bleak things are looking.

I thought the dubs were most impressive against Donegal. Some of their points were as good as i've seen. McAuley is the main man as far as i can see. When he plays, the dubs play.
Kerry v Dubs league final if the dubs come 2nd or 3rd in the league.

Cadogan and Canty were big losses to Cork on Sunday, they won a game that they had no right to win.
Dublin played very well and are really finding their stride. They will surely beat mayo who just can't seem to get it right around the middle third. Some of the mistakes they made on the ball were unforgivable. They may avoid relegation by beating what I presume will be, a very experimental Kerry outfit in a fortnight.
Kildare played scintillating football yesterday, regardless of the opposition 3-23 is some scoreline to rack up. They threatened to cut loose last week against Louth but a couple of fade outs during the game meant that the scoreline was closer than it should have been. A straight shoot out with Galway, in Salthill, should be a great game. It's the best opportunity that they have had since '97 to get to a league final, it would be nice to see them take it. Galway will be a good test.
For the second year in a row, relegation threatens Meath. Troubled times indeed for the royals. All the upheaval of recent years can't be helping their cause.
Congrats to Longford and Glenn Ryan, who earned promotion with a draw in Tipperary. Division 2 beckons, a fair achievement for a small county.

My league synopsis thus far; Kerry and Tyrone are flying. Dublin and Cork are ticking along. Down, Donegal and Armagh are one good day, one bad day. Meath and Mayo are going South. Kildare are coming into form at the right time. Galway are young, loads of potential and on a slow upward curve. The shootout in Salthill on Easter Sunday should be a cracker.

That U21 midfielder from last year seems a huge prospect and a great personality.

Cheers Michael Mac. One of the two U21 midfielders is out injured until after our first championship game. Fintan O'Curraoin was on the DCU Singerson winning team. The other guy Tom Flynn has got some game time recently and both guys have potential. Kerrygold nobody else from 1998 and only Joe Bergin from 2001. Reality is fellow posters we are coming from a low base after a torrid time since 2006 (8 championship one point defeats between provincial and qualifiers). Also hurling and football in the county operate completely independently with even different boards, jersies, crests, sponsors and geographical catchments etc. Although not directly related it does not help. In fairness a recent county board strategic review has sought to resolve this and not before time. What keeps me going is that in football particularly we have a tradition but i am sensible enough not to let this blind the fact that we have huge ground to make up to get back to the top tier. At least we are moving in the right direct albeit at a slow pace.

If Kerry and Cork get to the NFL final will it be played in Killarney as per the arrangement between Cork and Kerry for the 1997 NFL Final played in Pairc Ui Chaoimh?
