Maher is an excellent player...had some unreal games for Duagh all year, mighty prospect if he can stay injurys free. Quirke was sub for under 21 in 2004,excellent player, massive displays for Daugh all year. They both deserve a chance They both deserve a chance with who?? Both are good players but dont think there senior inter county standard.

No doubt Maher would have made a difference at centrefield last Sunday especially with his clubmate playing a blinder at corner back. You have to win some ball at midfield,we won nothing. As things were we were a disaster at midfield, especially in the second half with the forwards poor. Surely the junior clubs must have the players but were they interested? also.Duagh must have the players. Didn't the go all the way to Croker.I,ve seen them play but they have an even better midfielder now Alan O Brien who was injured an only now is back to form but he is only interested in his club.

They are both good players and it remains to be seen if they make county senior standards in the future. We will need 4 or 5 new players shortly. It is a big jump to senior and I think prospective players need to be nurtured with patience, trials etc. We probably have lost good senior players from time to time maybe because of one bad game, nerves, injuries or whatever. These players and many more like them out there could make it if they are nurtured, coached and not cast aside too soon. I have seen the two above mentioned and both are level headed and have the right attitude. However a believe that Maher who is very tall is prone to injury.
