There is a new terrace talk website to checkout. www.terracetalk.comLots of interviews, photos and articles as well as some Kerry football stats (league and championship data). And the Radio Kerry match commentaries from the All-Irelands from '97 onwards can be played on there.

Great stuff. Long overdue. I'll have the wife (a Dub) driven mad playing all the archived games!! Will there be a podcast of the weekly show?

Was listening to Terrace Talk this evening .... you have done some outstanding work on the website murhur!
Fantastic to have so many of the match commentaries and the greatest day series and so much more on one website. Loved the 'Songs' section - really enjoyed some of the 'gems' that have been recorded in the run up to All-Irelands! I think I have driven everyone in the house mental all evening playing clips of matches and songs!
Great stuff!

The website is simply amazing. I have to say fair play to Murhur and especially to Weeshie for making such information, not just his invaluable memories but also a huge amount of factual and statistical information available for free. Well done also to Tim Slattery, Niall Flynn, TJ Flynn also. Kerry's sports stories now have a worthy home

Lads I'm in heaven this is amazing. I'm just listening to the interview with the O'Sé brothers, their accents are just lovely, youcan't beat that West Kerry lilt....Must admit a lovely picture of Tomas (have to be a bit girlie) he looks fierce handsome. After the AI last year himself and Seamus were the soundest fellas I met that night, not a bit of ego between them. Amazing really cos when we loose Tomás from this team that'll be a day that I'll shed some tears, he is just pure class.... Thanks for posting the website, yet another distraction in my many attempts avoiding writing up my research

Thanks for the compliments and good to hear people are making use out of the site. There is no end to the possibilities of stuff that could be added and a serious amount of stats will get added to the site over time.
Radio Kerry say they are working on podcasting some of their shows so in time an archive of the weekly Terrace Talk show should be available on their website.
If people have photos, articles or other content that would be a good fit with the website, send them on. Or perhaps people have ideas for other content that could be included on the site?

Excellent website. Especially love the old commentaries.
Is the commentary of the recent down v kerry game going to be put up?
It would pain me to listen to it but would still love to hear Gary & Weeshie's view of things!

I only got around to looking at this site over the weekend. An amazing resource - there has been some great work done in recent years in making Kerry football history more widely available. Well done to all involved.
The NFL records now go back to 1980. One suggestion I would make (and it struck me when looking at '36 and Counting' also, is that it would be great if the player's club was included in the lline-up. If a player only played a handful of games it can be hard to place him.
The interviews are the highlight for me. Wheesie is very good, he lets people talk and actually listens to them.

Yeah, I do plan on adding the club name as well as potentially a photo and the player's achievements on their details page. Niall didn't add the club name in his 36 and Counting book because some players had been with multiple clubs. Paul Russell for example played for clubs in 8 different counties! Anyway, I plan on just listing their original club where they would have played underage. Would anyone be interested in helping to put together the club names for the players listed on the site? 388 players played championship for Kerry since 1928 - the early years might be tough but Id imagine we could come up with all the players from 1955 onwards. Now that the 2010 championship is done and dusted, some interesting stats - Colm is only a point behind Maurice for second place in the list of top scorers and Bryan Sheehan jumps to be just outside the top 10 www.terracetalk.com/kerry-players/top-scorersTom O Sullivan is now in 3rd place for highest number of appearances www.terracetalk.com/kerry-players/top-appearancesAnd check out the 1982 National League - Kerry played 13 games including a preliminary quarterfinal of all things. www.terracetalk.com/national-league/year/1982The league started in October, less than a month after the All Ireland win in 81. Sure the lads were burnt out in their bid for 5-in-a-row!

The scoring stats make interesting reading. Who would have thought that Eoin Brosnan scored 1-09 more than Ger Power over a similar number of games? Mikey's scoring rate is frightening.

Even in recent years Noel O'Mahony was at one stage playing with Civil Service as his club (he was of course a Narrie), the Hassetts were with a club in Wicklow for a while and Jack O'Shea transferred to Leixlip during his inter-county career.
William Kirby is known as a Stacks man but was picked for the Kerry minors while playing with Na Gaeil, he played all his underage football with them.
Donal McEvoy was with Mitchels when he was first picked for Kerry, but played some NFL games after the move to Stacks. As mentioned lately in another thread, Conor Kearney moved from Brick Rangers to Laune Rangers.
The playing stats are fascinating alright. I noticed all the games in the 1982 league, it must have been another occassion where a new format was tried and discarded.
Another interesting one in the 1981/82 NFL - Jimmy Deenihan lined out in goal against Mayo! It's mentioned in Kingdom Come. It didn't seem to faze him and he didn't concede a goal.

Dromin refers to an occasion when Jimmy Deenihan lined out in goals for Kerry.
Just a little teaser: It wasn't the first time Jimmy played in goals for the Kerry seniors!

Brendan Guiney's record must be without compare also - 3 Championship appearances - 2 in All-Ireland Finals.

Did Paudie O'Mahony not come on instead of Charlie Nelligan in 1978 ?
Excellent website, long overdue. It took Radio Kerry a long time to realise the quality sports programmes that they have and the great potential there for websites/ podcasts etc.
I see the Book to accompany " the greatest day " is out next month. Between that and the D O'Se book , we won't be short of reading material !!!

Speaking of players in odd positions - John Cronin who got the famous goal V Cork in the 1991 match in Killarney played a few league games at corner back! Now that's something I wasn't aware of.

I looked at that - surprising - I was even more surprised to see that he played for Kerry in the League as late as 2004. I remember he was playing for the Mitchels that time (he was originally Waterville) but had no recollection of him being back on the panel.

The John Cronin that was on the 2004 panel was the Legion midfielder. No relation at all.

There was a piece in Kerry's Eye last week on the Greatest Day Book.
I suppose they might have the picture of a high fielding Darragh on the back page instead!! It will be interesting to see what they will fit into 272 pages. Jack got a lot into 200 pages. Thsi may be a different style of book though.
