After predicitng that Kieran Donaghy would transform kerry if selected at full forward last year on this very forum I now come with another predicition. Mike Quirke will (if provided he plays up to scratch on sunday and nerves dont get to him) be one of the standout midifelders in this years championship.
Also Kerry are going to rotate donaghy and the centre forward around a small bit during games too if needed. he played well in a chalenge against laois there the last day. If teams pick a big man to mark donaghy specificallly at full back put declan sull in there in a swap for a while and run him and instead of giving in high ball give in quick diagonal balls so that they can turn their men in the inside line.
That leaves 4 massive men around the middle of the park for kickouts. Quirke, Kieran, Brosnan and Darragh. The midfielders could pull to the wings and let the goalie drive the ball down the centre towards brosnan and star. Not a bad way to vary kickouts

makes perfect sence to me AWB,if quirke did prove to be a find it would be some boost to kerrys chances this year of retaining sam.
we will need something new this year with plenty of options and variations to conteract all posibilities.pato seems very aware of this.
how about this full forward line to counteract armaghs swarm defence for the all-ireland quarter final in august.
gooch, kieran, brosnan and rain them in over the top for lads like darren, sean sull, declan, galvin, mfr to run onto in rotation.

AWB think that is a good tatic of moving donaghy to center forward and kinda bulking up the middle third. would work even without quirke.
KG i really don't know can eoin be trusted anywhere only in center forward or midfield,
think we have seen him moved even just out to wing forward and he is fairly ineffective.

Very true bout eoin, without doubt most effective from centre forward, theres no half forward in ireland with an eye for goal like him.

I'm sure brosnan could play the type of game johnnie crowley did at corner forward v mayo in '04 in a once off game.
how about donaghy, quirke, brosnan on the fullforward line in a once of game to terrorise the northern swarm blanket defence with the gooch on the forty pulling the strings.

Kerrygold, You need a few days fishing in South Kerry to clear the head!! The big smoke is pulluting your usually clear football brain!

I'm not so sure AWB about Quirke being one of the standout midfielders. He hasn't played that many games for Kerry although he apparently did well against Dublin in the league (his only game I think?).
He has been on the scene for a while and I have seen him play a few fairly ordinary games for us. I know he opted out last year but was there in the preceding years (remember the two fisted volley to the Tyrone net in the league a few years ago?)
I hope you are right AWB - however in my mind he will have to come on in leaps and bounds from previous performances . This may be wishful thinking particularly with the faster summer pitches....

Lads, I see talk about Armagh and Northern teams etc.... ye need to get that far first! I dont think it matters who wins in Munster Kerry and Cork will be in the Quarter finals either way. My other prediction is the Munster championship will continue to become less meaningful. The real championship starts in the Quarter finals. It might take a year or two for the penny to drop but thats the logical conclusion........

Watchdehop, you also have Armagh and either Donegal or Tyrone and I suppose I shouldn't forget Mayo in the qualifiers, so they might also need to get passed one of them on the way to the quarter finals.
