So lads which player would stand out for the greatest individual performance on All-Ireland day?Maurice in 97 against Mayo springs to mind but Moynihan's performance against Galway in 2000 was outstanding!Any arguments?

Or Canavans performance in 1995 wasnt bad either (lots of handy frees though). speaking of Bomber in 1978. is that the highest score from play in an all ireland? 11 points?

1997 Maurice, probably the greatest. Jacko in 1985, Bomber and Spillane in 1984, Padraig Joyce 2001

I'm sure there are plenty from before '75 but of those I've seen, Maurice's in '97 is top of the list.

Considering that he was only placed at fullback out of desperation......... I would have to give the nod to Seamus Moynihan for his performance against Pauric Joyce in 2000...........

Buy from my memory of it Moynihan didnt mark Joyce for too long in 2000. In the drawn game Joyce moved to the 40 after about 20 minutes we were coasting but he helped change the game in Galways favour. The same thing happened in the replay I thought, he moved out mid way through the 1st half.
I've a feeling that Bomber & Mikey share the record, I think he scored 2-5 in a final, open to correction but I think I remember seeing it in the Guiness Book of Records at some stage!!

tommy sugrue,s performance in the 1988 all ireland final is still talked about down my area but seroiusly jimmy barry murphys performance against galway in 1973,2 goals and 2 points for a lad straight from minor ranks the 2nd goal especially was a classic and only a genious could have placed theball where he put it.

Forgot about Tommy Sugrue in 88, the best refereeing performance I've ever seen (it even eclipsed Brian Whites 2 peno perforance in 2000).

On a serious note ! Dr. Sean Murphy's performance in the 1959 final must have been special, seeing it got him on the team of the century and team of the millenium !

Bluesball 1973 and Corks win was a historic one. It was the last time that a Cork team won a football All Ireland. 1989 and 1990 were really a Cork and Kildare combination!! Any plans to combine with any other county?

"Jacko in 1985, Bomber and Spillane in 1984, Padraig Joyce 2001" !!! Right..........you mean the ref in 1985 who allowed Jacko pick that ball off the ground in the small square? Sure the total score in 1984 was only about 15 points or wha?
I give it to..............Spillane in 1986, Pat Canavan (& Joe McNally/Tommy Conroy/Barney Rock/) against all the odds in 1983. Brian Mullins in 1976. Jimmy in 77. Maurice in 97. Kevin Walsh in 1998/2001. Martin O'Connell in 1987. Tony Boyle 1992. Henry Downey 1993. McDonnell in 2002. McGuigan 2005

Willie Bryan of Ofally in the 1972 All Ireland Final v Kerry. Superb exhibition of midfield play. Ja Fallon second half 98 and Joyce second half 2001 were also great individual performances.

Donal Daly in the first half against Armagh in 2002!. Over the course of a whole game it would have to be moss fitz in 97

Rashers i think u were asked one there was no need to go back listing everyone to 1890. if u were asked your favourite coloue would you go listing every colour possible!!! Obvious choice would be Fity in 97 but prob has to be Canavan in 95. A one man show against the Dubs and the Jayo brigade. Brought a sh*te team to within a point of the "superstars in blue". If canavan won an all ireland then he might not have become such a pr*ck in the last few years

That cavan referee was equally bad and inconsistant in both directions.
Curley was class a few years ago in Killarney...was it him that went nose to nose with Tommy Carr in Thurles

I have a friend from Armagh who doesnt have much of a clue about football. He tried to tell me that the current armagh team is better than any Kerry team that has won an A.I. Can someone give me a description of how good the great kerry teams of four in a row were etc. and give an indicator as to how good players like Sheedy, Spillane etc. etc. were? Cheers. Also might help people forget about Cork for a while!

Putting it mildly, people got their knickers in a twist about Man Utd doing what they did between 1996 and 2000.
Kerrys achievements would put them in the ha'penny place.
Real Madrid won the first five UEFA Cups as they were. Kerry were as good.
Kerry from 1975-1986 under Mick O'Dwyer were the Real Madrid of soccer under Santiago Bernabéu from 1947-1978 , the Welsh team of 1974-1979 under John Dawes, the English Ashes team of 1983, the Green Bay Packers of 1961 - 1967 under the legendary (and overly quoted) Vince Lombardi.
Quite simply put, they were the "winningest" team of their, or any generation.
