For Kieran Donaghy
There's a starman waiting in the square He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the square He's told us not to blow it Cause he knows it's all worthwhile He told me: Let the children lose it Let the children use it Let all the children boogie

the big song in 97 was "football's coming home" after the euro champs in England the year, it didn't come home for England, but it did for us....
Lyrics are easy, i'm sure some could be added
It's coming home It's coming home It's coming Football's coming home... It's coming home It's coming home It's coming Football's coming home It's coming home It's coming home It's coming Football's coming home It's coming home It's coming home It's coming Football's coming home

Very funny buck02. But do you think those people who made the trip to Pairc Ui Chaoimh will actually end up with good seats in the Hogan? If they do all I can say is fair play to the Kerry Gaa.

Or for the few of us who made the journey to Pairc Ui Chaoimh we could sing to those with the good seats in the Hogan Stand "Where were you when we were sh1t!!" brilliant! From where I was sitting in Paric Ui Chaoimh there appeared to be plenty room in the terraces. The majority of people who were at all the games this year will be in the Hogan, Cusack, or Davin stands. As for singing 'Footballs coming home' surely we can do better than a poxy sasanach anthem written for a team of overpaid and yellowbellied failures. Hopefully the game will be exciting enough that we don't need to occupy ourselves with singing stupid meaningless songs. Let the bodhrans in The Hill carry the tune for us.

Hopefully it'll be plenty of the highly unimaginative "Gooch Gooch Gooch!!". That'll do.

Moved post: All-Irl Final 06 :: The Songs... Post by murhur on Today at 6:35Great to see so much activity up and down the forum in these our final days.... 30 other counties must be quare envious of the fine website we have, and well able to fill it with 100 years of glory (obviously not 31 counties since Cork would never admit to that). Anyway I ripped a few of this years songs about the Kerry team from Radio Kerry. Some good and some hokey but shure thats always been the way. And for completeness I decided to add songs from the previous Finals. I do feel sorry for all Mayo's years of disappointment on the big stage but I sense it will continue - they really have given our songwriters plenty to write about. I havent been actve in the forum for a while but Ive just one thing to say about Sunday. '97 against Mayo made a legend of Fitzy. '04 against Mayo made a legend of the Gooch. If all goes to plan, '06 should make a legend of Donaghy! Come on the Kingdom by the Wild Rapparees www.moyvane.com/av/Come_On_The_Kingdom.mp3Come on Without, Come on Within No one plays the football like the Kerry Team.
Diarmuid Murphy in the goal, oh the net dont feel the ball Mike McCarthy at full back, he is like a stone wall One his left is Marc O Se, you can play him anywhere Fearless Tom O Sullivan, try to pass him if you dare.
Number 5, Tomas O Se, he is a stalwart of the West Like a beaver Aidan Mahony, just wont be second best Mercurial Seamus Moynihan, even better than before When he dashes up the field, oh the crowd cry out for more.
The midfield Dara fields where Eagles dare Braver Tommy Griffin does much more than his share The Cromane hare Sean Sullivan, whose talents we extoll And the powerful man Eoin Brosnan, has an eagle eye for goal.
Ball and chains need wizards he is the man too Galvanise And towering Kieran Donaghy, like the Bomber in disguise Colm Cooper and Mike Frank, have now began to peak And we know on Final day, a harvest they will reap.
So now this team and substitutes are ready for the fray To give their best for Kerry, on All Ireland Final day Now Jack and his selectors have instilled a great desire And they have left no stone unturned in their quest for Sam Maguire. Come On Home Sam Maguire by the OC Trio www.moyvane.com/av/Come_On_Home_Sam_Maguire.mp3Mickey Moran and the boys in red and green Their semifinal was the best we've ever seen But when Kerry play full cog, we know that they wont stop Till they bring the Sam back home to Lispole.
The Bomber in his time he topped the game But now we have Donaghy doing the same Jack O'Connor and his boys the All-Ireland they'll survive and they'll bring the Sam Maguire home once more. The Morning Dew by Liam O'Connor and Michael O'Muircheartaigh www.moyvane.com/av/The_Morning_Dew.mp3(Surely this should be the official Kerry song by two of our greatest exports) The Gooch Shakalaka by the Kingdom Crew (2005) www.moyvane.com/av/The_Gooch_Shakalaka.mp3The Gooch Shakalaka, The Gooch Shakalaka Only Colm Cooper does the Gooch Shakalaka. He sells more dummies than they do in Madame Tussauds No one plays football like Kerry's Colm Cooper. My Goochie Pet by Peter Locke (2005) www.moyvane.com/av/My_Goochie_Pet.mp3Now Mayo were rejoicing on that great All Ireland day They were singing songs of joy as they travelled on their way They sang "The Wests Awake" and "When its Moonlight in Mayo" But never for a moment did they sing of our hero.
And its you, And its you, And its you my Goochie pet, Left or right you sunk them when you slammed one in the net.
Declan Sullivan and Fitzmaurice, in you we placed our trust And you proved that you were champions when Mayo bit the dust. One Vision by Radio Kerry (2004) www.moyvane.com/av/OneVision2004.wmaKerry All The Way by the Buccaneers (2004) www.moyvane.com/av/kerryalltheway.wmaSo now we battle Mayo for the Sam Maguire We dont need bleach or ponytails to set our team on fire But on september 26th our spirits will be up When dara climbs the Hogan to lift on high the Cup. Beautiful Noise by Radio Kerry (1997) www.moyvane.com/av/mauricefitz1997.wmaAnd Pat Holmes doesnt know what to do Will I dive in, will I try to block his kick. If I dive in he will sell me a dummy. If he sells me a dummy he will go around me. If he goes around me it could finish up in the back of the net. I dont know what Im going to do. Let him kick it and it goes over the bar.

Hi, I am new to the forum but have been reading it avidly since Cork drew with us this summer. I was wondering do anyone here know of any good songs relating to the Kerry team (besides the rose of tralee) I'd love to get the words of them or even better the be able to download!! I can remember a song a few yrs back but can't remember its name. I think it would be great if there was a song for the Kerry team. Even a poem would be great. As for the games I think Kerry will shade it, I am hoping to go as was there last year when Tyrone beat us so it would be great for the county to capture that famous piece of silver again. any help with the songs would great! thanks in advance An Avid Kerry Supporter! There is a song called "Up the Kingdom" - dont know who wrote it but the verse goes something like Up the Kingdom is the cry from every girl and boy From every Kerry heart both young and old To the Kingdom we'll be true and to dear old Ireland too Up the Kingdom may God bless the green and gold.

Thats only the chorus a Chaid Bhig!
Sons and daughters of the Gael come list to what I say About a story thats held in high renown About a place that they call Kerry, where there's not a care nor worry From the highest Hilltop to the smallest town
Chorus Up the Kingdom is the cry from every girl and boy From every Kerry heart both young and old To the Kingdom we'll be true and to dear old Ireland too Up the Kingdom may God bless the green and gold.
There's a rumour up in Heaven says the scholar of religion That Kerrymen composed the great Lords prayer When He said "Thy Kingdom Come", His will has well been done For there are Kerrymen and women everywhere
Chorus Up the Kingdom is the cry from every girl and boy From every Kerry heart both young and old To the Kingdom we'll be true and to dear old Ireland too Up the Kingdom may God bless the green and gold.
(Now for the good part!) They say Sam Maguire is getting very tired Of his yearly trips from Dublin to Lispóil (also Listowel) If you're after football honour there are some you'll have to conquer Thats fitteen men dressed up in the GREEN AND GOLD!
Chorus Up the Kingdom is the cry from every girl and boy From every Kerry heart both young and old To the Kingdom we'll be true and to dear old Ireland too Up the Kingdom may God bless the green and gold.

Two more songs about this year's Kerry team.... Come On, Come On by the Border Boys (to the tune of a Smash Mouth ditty) www.moyvane.com/av/Come_On_Come_On.mp3 So they said the Kerry dream was over Rumours spreading of big fights at training But we're back, thinking of September Glory Lets get behind the Kerry Team.
Lost in Munster but burst through the back door Changed our team we got a new full forward He's a Star (Star), Gooch and Russell in the corners Taking scores for fun.
Cmon on Cmon On, Dara's jumping higher Cmon on Cmon On, Seamus is still the master Cmon on Cmon On, Get behind the Green and Gold
Longford, Armagh and The Rebels vanquished How this latest Kerry team has been transformed by a charm We're the Mayo men wait for us, on Croke Park's sacred sod.
Oh mighty Kerry we'll support you, from the hills and valleys Towns and villages, we'll go, we'll turn Croke Park into a cauldron of green and gold.
Those nights of training we will never give up, never give up...no no.
Cmon on Cmon On, kick a little longer Cmon on Cmon On, make a tackle stronger Cmon on Cmon On, get behind the green and gold
Cmon on Cmon On, try a little harder Cmon on Cmon On, run a little faster Evryone in Kerry loves Sam Everyone of us loves Sam
And our spirits they will soar As we cheer each Kerry score And you'll hear the Kingdom roar We want All-Ireland 34.
And our spirits they will soar As we cheer each Kerry score And you'll hear the Kingdom roar We want All-Ireland 34. The Men from The Kingdom by The Dodgy Crew www.moyvane.com/av/The_Men_From_The_Kingdom.mp3Now there's going to be a great showdown like manys the day long ago When Jack and his men from the Kingdom face the men from the County Mayo Now both of these teams are determined, for the skill and the burning desire To become the champions of Ireland and to bring home the Sam Maguire.
Here's to the Men of the Kingdom And the Men from the County Mayo We'll follow the Kingdom to Glory The team in the Green and the Gold
We started the road for the Final on the day that the Longford men came Determined to topple the Kingdom but The Star on the day claimed his fame Then on to Armagh and The Rebels, two teams with class that is true But the Kingdom they fought two great battles and now Sam Maguire is in view.
Here's to the Men of the Kingdom And the Men from the County Mayo We'll follow the Kingdom to Glory The team in the Green and the Gold.
Now we say best of luck to the Kingdom, to Jack and his men of great fame We'll follow them on to it fathers and cheer them with praise and acclaim It may be a close encounter the men from the West will not lie But the heroes of Kerrys great kingdom will fight to bring home Sam Maguire.
