i was on my thrawl of the country looking for a ticket for the final during the week.
i rang a friend of mine who is a club secretary in roscommon on the off chance there might be a spare ticket floating around.
he told me that roscommon are only getting 2500 tickets for the finals, thats a small return out of 83000 tickets. The ticket situation stinks really.

the Kerry allocation for the minors is the exact same Kerrygold. Anyone know what the allocation is for counties involved in teh senior final?

Look out for the new ticket scam where they now scan a ticket at the turnstiles instead of tearing a stub. A scanned ticket looks the same but can't be reused. So the scam is if a group of people have one spare ticket, they all go in the turnstiles, one person collects all tickets, goes back out, keeps the spare to get back in and sells the already scanned tickets. Same thing can happen for a double header where someone goes in for the first game, then leaves and resells his used ticket. One less thing to worry about - I was at the hurling final yesterday and they have returned to the old practice of tearing the stubs off the tickets. I would imagine they will do the same for the football final.

Apparently there were a fair few tickets floating around at the hurling. Is that true original kyF?

I personally heard about a dozen people at Gill's corner looking to sell tickets. However, the attendance was 82,275 so there weren't too many that weren't used in the end.
If you still have no ticket an hour before the match Gill's wouldn't be a bad place to try.

I was sitting in The Wash in Cork surrounded by Rebels and 2 Kilkenny people.

It was a great match (well, exciting, physical and tense). I'd say the 2 brave Kilkenny people in the pub really enjoyed the victory!

I believe that anyone who truly deserves a ticket will have no problem getting one.Such as club players, officers of clubs and coaches.the people who put the time into their clubs will get a ticket and i believe that if you cant get one you dont really deserve to be their.I dont know is it the same in every club but i know that my club guarantees all senior players, officers and every coach from u-6 to seniors a ticket. This doesnt apply to people who are abroad,no longer living in the county etc.. obviously. What I want to know is what interest can people have in football if they aren't involved with their local clubs? They'll spend a weekend away in Dublin for an All Ireland but wont travel 5 minutes down the road to support their own clubs.Agree or disagree??

the problem is CCfEl that for a lot of people especially on this site, it's more than 5 mins down the road to the local club, in my case it's about 5 hours...
i dunno how your club guarantees every player, official and every coach down to U. 6 a ticket, that's surely a lot of people...
having said all that, anyone that really wants a ticket will get one, they (we) always do

.What I want to know is what interest can people have in football if they aren't involved with their local clubs?T Economics.. not everyone is lucky enough to live at home still.. Having said that I would not begrudge an officer, coach or player from my club getting a ticket before me. That would be absolutely right and proper. to say I dont deserve a ticket because I am not directly involved with my club is not something I can accept though

- Always get your priorities right A Kerry man had two great tickets for the All-Ireland final. As he sits down, another man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him. "No," he says. "The seat is empty." "This is incredible!" said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the All-Ireland Final, the biggest sporting event in Ireland, and not use it?" He says, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first All-Ireland Final we haven't been to together since we got married." "Oh ... I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. I guess you couldn't find someone else - a friend or relative, or even a neighbour to take the seat? The man shakes his head... . "No. They're all at the funeral."

I did say that my argument doesnt apply to those who are abroad, what i meant by this was anyone no longer living in Kerry, close enough to be involved with their local club. What I was trying to say was that there are countless people around the county who havent been at a game this year,be it club or county, who will be looking for tickets and complaining if they dont manage to get their hands on them.

Taken from Hoganstand today
Extra tickets for Kingdom 06 September 2006
The Kerry county board has confirmed that it has received its biggest allocation of All-Ireland football final tickets in years, and there should be enough to satisfy the demand of fans.
The Kingdom has received an extra 800 Hill 16 tickets and 200 stand tickets because their minor team has also reached the All-Ireland final.
“When we receive our full allocation, it should be in excess of 14,000 tickets,” said Kerry secretary Eamon O’Sullivan.
“Our allocation is obviously up on last year’s because our minors are involved and it is even larger than the allocation we received in 2004, when our minors were also involved in the final.
“The downside is that a lot of the extra tickets we have received will be used up because they will go to minor players and mentors. But having said that, we are confident we will have enough to meet the demands of our fans.”
Mayo expect to receive in excess of 10,000 tickets, but concede they won’t be able to meet demand. And Roscommon, who will make their first appearance in an All-Ireland minor final in 55 years, are also struggling with demand.

I'll say the same as I did when this discussion began before the all ireland finals of 04 & 05. If anybody here knows of somebody who's gone to all or most of Kerrys games this year and still doesnt get a ticket for Sunday week please post it on this forum. There wasnt one post then and there wont be one after this years final.

A ridiculous statement. (a) Firstly it sounds as if he's begrudging the minor players and mentors the right to the extra tickets. (b) Even if the minors weren't in the final most of players and mentors and their friends and families would be going to the Senior final anyway so with the extra tickets going to them it eases the burden on everyone else.

Knowing the fickle fans that crop up from time to time in our great Kingdom, people won't find the Mayo final attractive enough for them and therefore Kerry won't use all 14,000 tickets!

CCfEl- just read your post concerning those you consider entitled to AI ticket.I live outside the county and am not involved in any club. However i attend the closing stages of the co c'ships every year ,as many league games as i can manage and all the c,ship games.I consider myself a good Ky supporter (not just a fair weathered one).I will beg ,borrow or steal to get my ticket this year as i do every year and while i dont begrudge any one involved in clubs a ticket i envy them the peace of mind of knowing they have one secured.

Suggest everyone gets there ass to Croker this year. I certainly feel that when we lose Seamus and Darragh and maybe one or two more that we will struggle for a few years before we regroup. Take it while its going!

Hey Joan, I'm with you there, but I can't get a ticket. One day for sure...... Noreenos, you will definitely get a ticket for the 17th if you ask everyone you know to keep an eye out. I'd nearly bet the house on it (if I had one).
