Anyone else see the Bean Garda in front of the hill with a camcorder at the end of the game when people were trying to get onto the pitch....maybe they were making an internal Garda training video for how NOT to implement crowd management techniques...for the LOVE OF GOD where are their priorities at as I assume the camcorder is to provide a book of evidence on the serious offences that were taking place in Croke Park yesterday!!!!...apologies if my Cynicism causes offence but what is the harm on going onto the pitch at this late stage of the season..only one more game to be played this year i.e. Aussie Rules.....or am I missing something!!!!

I heard about that. Almost as funny as the guy in the intercom going "stewards, stewards, go to plan B, go to plan B". I nearly collapsed laughing (although the high of winning the All Ireland had me feeling somewhat giddy)

I wonder were they just covering themselves against teh allegations of heavy handedness after the h8urling final. It'll be interesting to see what they GAA come up with next after the complete failure of the much vaunted crowd control netting..

ya i waved at the one in front of the cusack, in all fairness, the GSE wouldt get a look in. The GAA shud count themselves lucky that they have no crowd trouble. Imagine how stupid it wud look if dec and gooch lifted sam in front of an empty field, it was worth riskin life and limb to get on the pitch

The GAA are being handed a law suit a week after the pitch incursions - that's why they don't want people on the pitch. They're paying enough bills already without paying out $x00,000 to some clown who sues because the signage was in the way of him having a decent landing after he jumped a ten foot metal fence which is designed to keep him off the pitch anyway.

I had the biggest row of my life yesterday with one tramp of a steward, I was in the Nally terrace and the thicko wouldn't open the gates despite fans pouring in from the Hill. I f'd him out of it and was raging as my sister and a few more Kerry lads we had met up with, I hope they have it on camera as I would sue Croke in a New York minute for the level of abuse he threw back at me, (He having started the whole thing) When I politely asked to be left onto the field ( he answered (no f:ing way you kerry b****d) Upon which I tore into him and told him what about tradition, Michael Hogan and 14 dead, Cork and Kilkenny's pitch invasion, He told me tradition was dead and it was pity myself wasn't. I myself have done stewarding at shows and occasional small club games and have come across people a little hot headed as myself was yesterday but the way he got on was unreal < and he having started the whole thing. I missed the cup lifting and got separated from my crew in the whole incident as I ran as fast my legs could carry me for fear of missing the Presentation or being arrested! I hope I am on Camera as if I am I will make an official complaint to croke park after over their steward, they might aswell bring in the Hell angels altogether as these tramps. Still having log-in trouble as per the previous thread.

The fact that the stewards/security guards started holding up the netting while the match was still on, blocking the view of spectators sitting in the front rows of the stands, served no purpose but to annoy people and make them even more likely to want to go onto the pitch.
Leaving aside the character and behaviour of the stewards (a separate question which definitely deserves to be followed up), the GAA should just accept that there is no way they will keep supporters off the pitch - they would be better off just letting them on, rather than making such pathetic efforts and being forced to fall back on "Plan B". I realise though that, for insurance companies to pay out, the Croke Park authorities have to be seen to be making an effort to keep people off, so they will probably keep doing what they are at.
We saw yesterday a small victory for tradition and common sense over ridiculous "insurance"-related restrictions on normal behaviour - a big cheer went up on the Hill when the "Plan B" announcement was made. A good laugh was then had at the announcer's request that "for your own comfort and safety" supporters should leave the field - I'm sure everyone on the field felt perfectly comfortable and safe, not to mind over the moon at Kerry's victory. I can't think of a better place in the world to be than on Croke Park minutes after Kerry winning yet another All-Ireland title. Nothing is going to change the way people think about this.

maybe after the trouble at the hurling game, the guards were recording the actions of the stewards more than the fans. any for those not in the know, stewards are in charge at croke park unless there is a major problem the gardai take over ( until then they can sign autographs like pillar did yerterday!!!) . again the main problem lies not at a single steward ( no matter how insulting) but with the gaa and fans and how the celebrate after the final whistle. most kerry fans went on after plan b was announced. dont think mayo fans would have been that patient!!!!

The Gaa have to get their priorities right. Pitch invasions are as much a part of the final as the dancing at half time. I was in the upper Cusack on the 40 when the game finished. A steward caught a woman around the neck as she tried to run onto the field. A guard went up and let her go onto field but nothing was done about the steward.
Plan B is right

We were sitting in row A in the Hogan and there was no way we were letting the stewards put up that orange plastic! We offered one of them sweets and had good craic with him. The other one was like a dog - when we asked him what was plan b he said "shoot em"!!

Ha ha that garda with the camera was a bit of craic alright!!! She got a fine picture of a few of us anyhow as we rushed past her. Its a joke trying to stop people coming on to the field so the quicker the gaa realise that the better. Small bit of heavy handiness by stewards alright. Wonder if the Garda with the camera caught that!!! "PLAN B" was just hilarious alright!!
