Underage club football, goalie hoofs ball out to big midfielder, mark taken, big midfielder drives the ball in to big fullforward, mark taken and point taken.
Cluxton ping arrows out to one of many runners in the middle third, mark taken, ball popped into either of Rock, Mannion, O'Callaghan running in premeditated lines , mark taken, pop over point from that quality collection of inside forwards................
Looks like a poor call from Congress.

It would be a fright to carry an all East Kerry final over to Tralee................... all county finals should be played in Tralee for many reasons with atmosphere being the main one. you cannot recreate the same atmosphere in Killarney in a stadium thats only 25% full. I doubt an all East Kerry county final in Killarney would be found wanting for atmosphere.............

It seems that if you kick a ball twenty meters in certain areas of the field and the recipient picks it up at his ankles you are rewarded with a free shot. What Is to say in favour of this? Nothing in my view. If the recipient was obliged to catch the ball over his head perhaps one could make a case for it. Now all it will do is slow the game down , already littered with stoppages , while the recipient winds himself up for his free shot. I suggested here several times that the handpass should be restricted to two consecutive handpasses but was reprimanded that the referee could not be burdened with counting handpasses! Now he is expected to count twenty metres. May God protect us from meddlesome people. Next innovation: the oval ball. Then our game will truly become a nursery for the AFL. The sin bin of course will be a charter for cheats to run down the clock. Do these legislators ever think about consequences and unintended consequences of rule changes. There are times when I think these people have a death wish in respect of our game. This mark cheapens forward play. Agree we should oval the pitch and the ball also. It would be great PR for the GAA if a few players made it as top class forwards in Oz rather than defensive donkeys.

Teams with the best forwards will thrive on this, just pop the ball in Rock, Mannion and O'Callaghan all day long, sure scores.

Don't agree, Laois are a football county first and foremost. Good place for MQ to cut his teeth in intercounty management for a few seasons.

It might be more of a statement of being facilitated in every small way that adds up. Games at "Home". Dressingroom, parade, Hill16 warm-up, Coming out second. Boys are back in town. Spot on.

I heard the same regarding the county board - word was that Sugrue went with a detailed plan for Laois for the next 2/3 years but county board were not up for it - Sugrue then walked. It hard for Laois to develop both codes to a high level. The hurling seems to be the priority since Eddie Brennan took over Mick Dempsey might take on the footballers after finishing up with the Cats?

This is deflection and whataboutery. Deflection and whataboutery from what? Kildare are in hock up to their eyeballs. But haved always loved throwing the dollars at managers. Not to mention Seanie Johnston. But he just loved Kildare I suppose! Jack is the latest beneficiary. And they still cry foul. But they have a lovely Centre of Excellence... Millage expenses between Dromid/Ballinskelligs now and Waterville in Micko's day sees this as no more than a pastime for both men in their retirement years from the day job. Of course we know yis are more into fuel efficient and environmentally friendly electric cars inside the pale! Frugal people, wont even build yis own stadium or centre of excellence. Apples oranges bananas and all that.............

You saw it on the Summer Talk thread first Sensible appointment and an indication of the succession planning that is in place. what do you mean when you say succession planning. Do you mean he will be a contender to replace PK... albeit being based in Laois? Hopefully he will get the best out of the u20s next year. I realise its not easy given they are nearly away at college in Cork and Limerick and beyond...but the last three years were very disappointing. A farmers field near Limerick Junction might have to be commandered for training...on the train line from Tralee, Cork, Limerick and Laois! Throw MOC, SOS & DC into the mix over the last three years and JOC might have been the best thing since slice pan. Portlaoise to Tralee isn't a huge ordeal on good roads.

how long was he in laois and what did they achieve under him? 2-3 seasons, successive NFL promotions from div 4-2, contesting the Leinster Final last year. Div 2, contesting the odd Leinster final is about the natural order of things in Laois.

Pat Gilroy embraced the Spring Series in Croker as part of the startled earwigs progression. He subsequently removed the Dublin hurlers from the Croker hype at their earlier stage of development. Croke Park ala Dubs Park is a huge sporting anomaly in the current game. Home dressingroom, warming up under the hill, aggressors in the handshake, marching stand side game on game. It cant be said often enough. The replayed All-Ireland final would have been mind blowing in Killarney. Croke Park is like playing ping pong in the sitting room at home for Dublin, you'd know the lie of the threads on the carpet.

Good and exciting appointment for Kerry. JS did a very impressive job with the South Kerry seniors and with Laois. I thought he might have been Kildare bound when he resigned in Laois but obviously the u20 job was in the offering. Laois was a good place to be but with bags of intercounty involvement with Kerry senior teams this is probably a step towards future Kerry senior management. This will freshen up the u20 setup in Kerry. Looking forward to seeing how he gets on, well I would think.

In 2013 Shane oDonnell scored 3.03 from play and set up 3 points for colleagues. He didnt get an All Star. After that it became farcical. Was that his first start that year?

More farcical if DC doesn't get it ahead of Manion at 13. SOS must be borderline senior player of the year 2019 just behind the mercurial Cluxton. SOS was hugely influential in this years championship, NFL & Sigerson cup.

It wouldn't be PC if Fenton didn't get it this year in the five in a row engine room. Cluxton, deservedly, will be anointed footballer of the year, and rightly, most influential footballer of the last 20 years. Great footballer & serious performer. It will be interesting to see how many All-Stars the jurnos will serenade Dublin's 5 n a row wit......!

But the famine years Mick, don’t ever forget the famine years. I hear there are plans to erect a statue along the north quays in commemoration. The front runner in the list of suggestions thus far is one of Ciaran Whelan going on a headless chicken run and driving it wide from 35 yards when he had 3/4 better options in front of him If statues were erected the only one would be for this current Dublin team . The Greatest football team of all time, that have broken every record going. When they are gone will never see the likes again. Ex Kerry Managers and Ex Kerry players agree and to be fair they have seen these Dubs up close and personal . See yous next year in the league lads. Greatest stats in a decade from any county, certainly. Great team ever, questionable - seven outfield changed since 2015, most gone since 2011..........dubious claim in fairness. A team in flux doesn't constitute a set group of players performing all the time. I'll take greatest team ever tag with a pinch of salt.
