I can't explain exactly, but I think I preferred when I thought Kerry would win the AI and suffered the agony of a loss - rather than my current crisis of faith.
Something deep is going to have to rise in this team and I currently don't see it. I have no specific issues with any players or management in terms of effort and thought, I just don't think they are as good as they need to be. Sad face.

That was what the English would call a "proper" championship game. In fairness to both teams for most of the game they played good honest football. It was like a game from decades ago. I have commented a lot on teams training during the league and not being ready for games. Last Monday in his column in the Examiner after Dublin sluggishly got past Meath, Eamonn said that it was likely they were after a block of training. I would have thought the heavy training was done. Kerry are likely on a similar training schedule. I think they are entitled to a general dispensation for being equally sluggish today. When needed in the second half they showed the resilience required. Some of the comments about David are clearly by people who never kicked a ball in their lives. In regards your last line, People are allowed give opinions once they don't cross a line. There isint a player in the country that would lace David's boots however bar a few moments this year his form has not been as good as previous years. That's just my observation. IF Kerry are to win the All Ireland we need him hitting his straps along with the rest of the team. In relation to Homers comments about the real form being required in 4 weeks that's true but nothing so far this year suggests that it's going to there.

Cork came here with their strongest team and serious intent, this was never going to be a stroll.
People bemoaning DC being below-par but he did score 4 points. Chris Óg Jones scores once and is taken off yet someone said be burned Paul Murphy.
More importantly, we scored 14 points outside of the Cliffords. Isn't this exactly what we've been hankering after - a spread of scorers to limit the over-reliance on DC?

What is so infuriating and its a constant bug bearer of mine is our a build up play at times can be so pedestrian and lethargic looking at times. Cork got great joy in the first half when they moved the ball quickly yet when we over turned possession we tended to go lateral than putting foot to ball and leaving it off to the poachers inside. Theres a time and place to being patient and working the opening but I thought in the first half when we won back possession we needed to move the ball quickly. But this isn't the first time nor the last we will see this I'm afraid. Like the 20s on weds there is an alarming lack of pace in this team and with our suspect midfield and having to play 3 orthodox midfielders we struggle for scores especially if David or Seanie are held .
Yeah, Billy O'Shea called it a lack of movement in the forwards on Radio Kerry after the game, you could call it a lack of pace as well. You look at the movement & pace of the Dublin forwards, and how many goal-opportunities it creates. With Kerry's pace & movement, very few goal chances are created. Yesterday, Cork created 3 really good goal-chances yesterday, Kerry 1. (and added to that, their conversion-rate of goal-chances is really poor)
How Killian Spillane is not in the team, I don't know. He's the third best scoring forward after Clifford and O'Shea, and has a bit of pace as well. After his great game against Galway in the last game of the league, I thought it would earn him a starting place, didn't even see the pitch.
I'm losing faith with this management team quite frankly. You start with only two scoring forwards, and then the first two players off the bench are the 30+ year-old brigade, of Paul Geaney and Stephen O'Brien. How the management think this is going to win an all-Ireland, I'm not really sure.

The Spillane one is a strange one, Geaney,OBrien and Brosnan all got on ahead of him. Considering he played very well in the last competitive league game against Galway.

Look if paidi scores that goal the game may have looked different.

The bottom line is we are relying on maybe 6 or 7 players to pull any game out of the fire for us. They will do that for the most part but let's say we meet a team with a greater collective strength or more better individuals then we will struggle. That's not a reflection on any player , they are all giving their maximum. What we need to do and we didn't start with it yesterday, is have a way of playing that negates our weaknesses and accentuates our strengths. If we started as open against a better team than Cork yesterday there would have more goals. To be fair to Cork they gave it a go, the game was enjoyable, but if you're measuring us we are still short players if you're talking about winning 3 of the next five All Irelands(Which is what we demand, cos we're never happy).

Having watched the game back, after being frustrated watching the game live in the stadium. It wasn’t as poor a performance as first thought.
The 1st quarter was what really left us down, we were down 1-06 to 0-05, mainly because we pressed up too much and were playing into Corks hands and they were getting all the space they wanted up front and scoring quiet easily.
From then on, Kerry changed tactic and dropped a bit deeper to cut that out and went on to win the rest of the game by 0-13 to 0-06, which won us the game.
Obviously there was down points to the game, mostly our inaccurate shooting and sloppy handling errors and turnovers. These are things I would find can be fixed quiet easily and will come to Kerry quiet easily when they get Championship sharpness back, this is where the group stage will really benefit us I think.
I wouldn't be hitting panic buttons just yet, as Tadgh Morley said in his interview "it's only April 20th". Plenty of football to be played yet.

I was writing 'April 20 is June 20 in old money'... but in old money that is still over five weeks to a quarter final. It is early in the year.

Yes Seanie I have nt been filled with confidence this year so far.For me we will not win Sam this year unless the management find a way to play with a bit more adventure but maybe Tally does nt like that . Define playing with adventure? We are the 2nd last all Ireland champions and lost the last final to a team that played with 0 adventure. I honestly don't get this criticism of management team and this need/want to be some special footballing team when the way the game is gone dictates what's needed to win games. There's no point leaving 6 lads up if we are being battered on counter attack and sucker punched like we were in 2020 and 2021. Cork played negatively for most of today and we still got 18 scores. A bit of perspective is needed it's still April and no AI were ever won in April in the modern generation By adventure I mean play more attack minded. As for being the 2nd last team to win an Alk Ireland so what.Tyrone won the year before us.If you happy with that fine but om not.I want to win again.Yes im aware we lost last years final but the word is"lost".We did nt win.Yes we only lost by two points. So did Kildare in Leinster to Dublin. You think Dubs have no adventure?Well they have more than us.We cannot nor will not win All Irelnd this year without the management changing tact.Dara Moynihan did well yesterday but both he and Adrian cant both be on starting team.We also need more from our midfield

Yesterday was a good test with positives and negatives. The first 20 minutes seemed to be a systems/tactical failure and just allowed cork too much space. As others have said, if it were Dublin or Derry, it would have been far worse. However we have seen in recent weeks that both Dublin and Derry are also prone to these same system failures so very much a risk/reward consideration.
We got to grips with things after that and I was very confident we would win at halftime based on how the second quarter played out. With a bit more ruthlessness, we could have won by a couple of more but I thought cork did a lot right yesterday in terms of their defence and we had to work hard for the scores we did get. The performances of Murphy and Moynihan reinforced my belief they are guaranteed starters no matter who is available. To be honest,I don’t even think it is a close run thing. I thought midfield was decent and probably edged the battle over 70 minutes. The fact that Barry Dan only got a few minutes towards the end is a concern though and it still seems there is a lack of belief in him from management.
For the forwards, I thought Spillane and Burke offered little. Burke has missed a lot of football though so the game will bring him on. We know at this stage what we are getting from Spillane. We definitely need another scoring threat from the start and based on yesterday Geaney seems to be in pole position. David was off it a bit yesterday but it seemed to be execution and a sandy pitch that were the main issues. I thought his attitude and decision making was top class and he still contributed on the scoreboard.
Overall, while not outstanding and plenty to chew on, we won a game yesterday where we started very poorly and the cliffords had relative off days against a cork team that while not amongst the elite will give anyone a run for their money

Last week Con O'Callaghan got 2 scores (1-1) from open play and Paul Mannion got 4 scores (1-3). Yesterday Shane Walsh got 1 pt from open play. Damien Comer 2 pts from open play. So David is second out of 6 at scoring from open play after 1 game. Calm down.

Nobody is questioning his credentials. However in my opinion he hasn't reached those heights this year so far. Yes he scored 4 yesterday but his overall play and turn overs were not his normal standard. What other players have done is irrelevant in my opinion. To the original point I played 20 odd years adult football but that's irrelevant it's just a football opinion.

Gaa confirmed Linetick won't hold the Munster Final due to the great Limerick Run... looks like negotiating will commence to Ennis or Killarney, as Thurles is also out of the equation and I take it nobody wants to go down to PúC

The Irish Examiner are reporting that the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick won't be available for the Munster final due a marathon in Limerick on that Sunday May 5th! That will possibly put Cork as the final venue?

Keep the faith Lads. We grew up in the comfort of Kerry winning Allirelands for fun. Spoiled by that, we are now in a situation where , unlike back then, there are many who could take us on any given day. All the same our main threat was always Cork. Cleary even said it after that they came to win yesterday. They didn't, we beat them and we're in the Munster Final. Fantastic that it was a tough game and they had to dig it out in the end. Most football people watched Donegal Derry later and the general consensus is that both of them would beat Kerry. The fitness level of, especially Donegal, was off the charts. Hopefully Kerry have time to up their speed, focus on early goals and hold the KeepBall strategy to a minimum.

A strong chance they'll only get a crowd of 5k-10k if they put it in Cork or Thurles (I think it was only 11k last year in Limerick) due to the travel distances counties will have to travel and the fact it's probably gonna be a one sided game will mean people wont travel long distances.

Ennis is plenty big enough for the Munster final
