A question in relation to GAAGO. I just happen to have a bunch of family events on the afternoon/evening of 20th - the date of the Kerry/Cork game. The game is at 4pm. I have a free 90 minutes slot from around 6.30pm. Does anybody know if the game would be available for viewing so soon after the finish. Or does one have to wait some time for the game to be put up for retrospective viewing - like some other sport streaming sites? Many thanks. It's available immediately. Even when the games are in progress you can go back to the beginning. I have been late on a number of occasions, I avoid looking at the score and go back. Thanks for that - that's great.

Has anyone an update on Joe O Connors injury Also Jason Foleys progress ? Are they our only injury concerns, have Diarmuid O’Connor and Dara Moynihan recovered? I know Cillian Burke is back, Dylan Geaney another who’d be in contention for the 26 who was injured. Hopefully Burke gets a start at 12 for the Munster Championship at least, its Championship football where we'll really see what he's made of and where he'll show signs of improvement or not.

I do think we will beat cork with a few points but genuinely worried about our midfield and defence. I can see us giving up goal chances although cork only punished 20% of their goal chances against limerick. I mean in all seriousness all you have to do is do not drop your number11 and Morley will have to mark him. If cork drop powter in front of Clifford it will Morley the chance to drop. I'd drop a midfielder in front of Clifford with Maguire or the cork viking going to 11 keeping Morley honest. The Viking has always caused us problems with his direct running. I think Meehan will pick up paudie with flahive on DC

I have to admit. I forgot about this game or more accurately didn't think it was on this weekend. Having the affliction of living in Cork and having a rebel mad son I have seen a number of Cork football matches this season both in person and on tv.
Corks league campaign started in a whirlwind of mediocrity with a hammering by Donegal on the opening weekend followed up by losses to both Louth and Cavan. After that, they have appeared to turn a corner and have been on an upward trajectory culminating in a final day draw with Armagh they could easily have won. How interested Armagh were in that fixture remains to be seen.
Matty Taylor, Ian Maguire, Shelock, Hurley, Powter, Deane, O'Rourke are all good players and they are ones off the top of my head. Be interesting to see how we go at midfield or if Jack & Co look to avoid any ort of contest and go short all the time.
With injuries etc the Kerry team more or less picks itself with the league only throwing up Cillian Burke and O'Brien really the only 2 that enhanced their claims to a starting spot.

There was a bigger build up to the league games, Cork coming to Killarney and not a word, shows where the Munster championship is at.

It's a good few years since Kerry went into a championship being talked down by so many outside the county.
The big 3 with Kerry behind Dublin and Derry seems fair enough.
Hopefully this benefits Kerry come in under the radar a bit.
Can't make Saturday unfortunately with family commitments so it's GAA Go for me.
Jack stated Jason Foley as being the longesh injury and the rest soft tissue short term.
Ryan OSullivan Casey OSullivan White Morely OBeaghlaoich [ although he was ill according to examiner] OConnor OConnor Spillane Clifford Burke Clifford OShea Spillane
Subs P Geaney D Geaney Barry Dan O Brien Murphy Breen
The one positive I see is that Kerry have deepened their squad since last year and have finishers on the bench.

I agree with you from 8 up but I would pick a different backline. For me Paul Murphy was our best defender during the league and keeps his place at corner back. Sean O'Brien did little wrong in the last few games and deserves to keep his place. My backline would be: - Graham Morley Paul Murphy O'Brien White Tom Sull

He has the brains to see out the game in those situations. I'd much prefer him on the pitch at the end than a young lad.

Good team would have liked to see killian or geaney instead of Moynihan but good balance to that team I agree completely. We need a shooter in the 15 slot nothing against Moynihan but if he starts it has to be at 10 instead of Adrian. All in all, a good team and happy to see Burke and O'Brien get their 1st Championship starts.. 1 concerns I'd have is Gavins role in 6, hopefully he's not asked to sweep as I don't think he does it to the same level as Morley. Gavins strength is going forward I think and tackling but not dropping deep. Will be interesting to see how this develops on Saturday.

I will be very surprised if Kerry don't win this one with a good bit to spare. They should dominate for most of the game but as with all underdogs, Cork will have a spell in either the first quarter or third quarter where they put it up to Kerry. The midfield, half forward area could be key for Kerry.

A few mistakes in that selection. Kerry will still win and in the words of Thomas Edison and have the benefit of finding out something that doesn't work.

Id wonder about Gavin at cb.Maybe Graham or Murphy might go there and Gavin on the wing.Id also have like a scorer like Paul G Killian or Tony B corner forward to help David.David a scoring v Cork is fairly average.I would love to see him score heavy Sat .

Four team changes from the All Ireland Final team - big question is are we stronger or weaker as a result.
Out are Jason (injured and will start when injury clears), Jack Barry (Oz), Stephen O Brien (on bench), Paul Geaney (on bench).
In comes Sean O Brien, Joe O Connor, Adrian Spillane and Cillian Burke.
I believe this strengthens the team overall and address some of the issues - some individual (and positional) concerns remain and may need sorting, but happy overall.
Bench wise - Michael Burns, Donal O Sullivan, Ruairi Murphy, Brian O Beaglaoich (injured) are out and Tony Brosnan (returned from injury), Daragh Roche and Armin Heinrich make the bench

Its a very strange build up to a Kerry/Cork championship game.Interest is low and in Dublin most have it as a forgone conclusion as an easy Kerry win.I myself do not and unless we play with more abandon then I would nt be one bit surprised if Cork beat us.Hopefully our management team have learned from past failures and we play as Kerry should play without fear.Looking forward to Cillian Burke s championship debut and hopefully the the two O Connors do well midfield.

Disappointed we’re back to Moynihan and Adrian Spillane again, they were our wing forwards up to the final last year and didn’t offer enough. Spillane doesn’t offer enough in attack as a whole while Moynihan doesn’t offer enough of a scoring threat and is a weakness on kick outs. Moynihan would be much more effective coming from the bench. Not convinced about Seanie at 14 either, I think we get more from him and he’s needed more at 11.

There’s positive elements to that team. Good to see Seán O’Brien and Burke get starts. Joe O’Connor starting a championship game too. The bench looks strong. It could be interesting Saturday as I feel we’ll get tested a bit in midfield and defensively for spells at least. I don’t think that’s our strongest 15 by any stretch but let’s see how it goes.

Surprised the team was selected and released, but I suppose seeing as the game is Saturday and not Sunday, I can see how it was brought forward, still in saying that, I’m stumped at the lack of interest and flare around the clash, jez, I know I grew up in the days of knockout ball, but still this must be the most underwhelming or non-discussed Kerry and Cork clash for years, even if one scrolled back over Kerry and Cork McGrath Cup games of a few years ago on the forum, there was more input, discussion and debate around it.
The team itself, is probably along expected lines, I expected Morley in the full back line as his physicality will be required for Hurley, it was probably a toss up between he and Graham, for the Castlehaven man but Graham offers more from an attacking treat and link man than Morley does, I am actually surprised that Paul has been selected as I think he offers us more off the bench, similarly, Gavin is more attack minded, a role that is not inducive for centre back, I know people bemoan the suggestion as untried, to a degree, but I would have been more comfortable if Graham was at 2, the flankers Sean and Gavin and Breen placed at 6 – but that’s just my personal preference.
I am happy that Sean O’Brien has been retained, I think he and Bourke give us serious kickout options. Jack has actually gone for a really kickout based selection based on all four wing men. Defensively both Graham and Sean are options for Shane Ryan, as are Spillane and Bourke if going long, similarly, to counteract Cork’s pairing both Spillane and Bourke negate the options open to Martin in goals. Jack has five around the middle well over six foot and will have dirty ball winners in Moynihan and Paudie, it looks like Jack has gone with three out and out scorers in Paudie, Seanie and DC, Cillian will chip in with two workhorses to assist, similarly behind them Diarmuid, Joe, Sean and Gavin regularly raise flags.
To be fair it is hard to argue with the selection, the bench too has options in Breen, Heimrich, who has impressed me, Stephen, Paul and Brosnan will trouble tired defences.
The bookies have the spread at 7, hard to argue with that.
A question though, where would a loss leave Cork in the Sam Maguire, seeing as both Munster and Leinster have lopped sided draws, weaker league status teams may make provincial finals, will this have an effect on how Cork approach?

I presume the rationale behind the selection of Gavin at CHB is to counteract the pace of Sean Powter.

I think Gavin White's runs would be far more effective at 6 than 7 in my opinion.
Yes it leaves us exposed but you'd hope someone would drop into the CHB position when Gavin goes forward.

I think the best 30 players in the county are in the extended squad so we can’t criticise the players selected. The thing is where they are positioned. Veteran, you might be right about Gavin and if that is the way they are thinking, it is shocking. It’s Cork's problem to deal with Kerry. Look at the league table!! How could the manager give a rousing talk in the dressing room, if the unspoken message from him is that “I blinked first” on Thursday night.
There are a number of rules for good management. One is “know your best 15”. Trying Gavin at no 6 is a complete experiment. It didn’t happen during the league nor in the McGrath Cup (afaik). The time for experimenting is over. The best available 15, in their best positions should out there solidifying as a team for tougher tests to come.
Another rule is that when a key player is unavailable the issue is solved with the minimum disruption to the team as a whole. The way the absence of Jason is dealt with disrupts the whole lattice of the team. Mike Breen or maybe Dylan Casey should have been directly slotted in. I did say “lattice of the team” not the defence. That is because the biggest issue Kerry have had in recent years is dealing with the kick-out from both ends. The league proved that there was an emerging solution to this - a strong, tall, ball winning, middle 8. Probably the preferred 8 would be Seán O’Brien, Tadhg Morley, Gavin White, Diarmuid O’Connor, Joe O’Connor, Adrian Spillane, Paudie Clifford, Cillian Burke. In those positions all 8 are at their best. That leaves David, Seanie, Paul, Tony Brosnan to get scores. This game should be used to bed in this arrangement, again in anticipation of tougher tests to come.
In fairness resources seem to be maximised at midfield and in the forwards. It now appears that there are several players going for one jersey, no. 15.
I still think Kerry will win. And all’s well that ends well.

Forwards look a bit short on scoring power especially if David is held as often happens against Cork. Adrian, Dara and Cillian (On his championship debut) won't be shooting the lights out. And if Seanie continues his waywardness from the league then it will be up to the 2 fossa lads to do the heavy lifting.

Tomorrow forecast showing mostly cloudy but the sun breaking through, temp 15-16 Celsius but real feel of a balmy 18!
Not too long ago you'd be heading to a Cork game with the round balling already done around these parts. As things stand the first cut of the lawn hasn't even been done given the weather.
Still its Cork in Killarney, more cups of hot tea and jackets than 99's and shorts, but Championship is Championship, and the Auld Enemy will also be the Auld Enemy.

Just waiting on the train here in Kildare and what a handsome day it is. Really looking forward to the game in Killarney this afternoon. It’s great to have championship back in Fitzgerald stadium, there is nowhere nicer for a game on a fine day. It should be competitive for good spells but Kerry should have too many aces for Cork. Looking at that bench, we have 4 forwards who will do damage when they come on. We are light on cover elsewhere. Looking forward to seeing Killian Burke in championship action, a huge day for him and his family. Safe travels to all heading to the game & an Ríocht abú!

My gut tells me we'll get a bigger crowd than expected, nowhere near full at the same time but maybe 20,000 - 25,000. The sun is shining here in Killarney and I think that will tempt a lot of people. Also I found in my many years going to Kerry Cork games that the Cork crowd preferred travelling to Killarney for the day out than into Cork City. Just a hunch.
