If you accidentally stand on someone you turn and check they are alright and acknowledge the accident.
This was no accident.
It was pure filth.
Shame we have no OSés,OMahony,Galvins,Donaghys anymore that would have dealt with him.

Yes surely if was an accident he'd have immediately went back and checked on the player.
It's a complete moment of madness.

I thought it was an accident initially before the slow-mo on twitter etc.
This was definitely not an accident. This was an intentional stamp.
Watch the height he got on his right knee for his first step. The dynamics of the way he planted his foot is faster and with more force than you'd see in a normal running stride.

True, but I'm sure we have all done spur of the moment or out of character split second decisions on the field of play, I don't want to be judge, juror and executioner, for all we know Cathal Heneghan could have gone to Foley at the final whistle, in the dressing room, or in the time since. Either way the disciplinary committee will be reviewing, I would take it the CCC Chair who is also the Roscommon chairman will excuse himself due to a conflict of interest. Heneghan himself is just back flong term injury himself, so there is an argument that he only too well knows the effects of a long term injury. I'm not defending him, but only he knows if it was intentional - I know that is of no consolation to the Ballydonoghue man, fingers crossed the injury will not see him missing the serious ball in the early summer..

Not making a joke out of the injury but I wonder what kinda shape Tommy Walsh is in right now you know he might do a job there for us after all his father did play there. You should be banned from putting comments up on the forum after a statement like that. How in the name of God would he do a job for Kerry at fullback?

A dirty stamp by the goal scorer #24 Cathal Heneghan on Foley's right ankle - looks very deliberate and should be highlighted - not sure what review channels exist in the GAA for incidents such as this but would expect it to go unpunished. And of course the two umpires saw nothing . Shocking behaviour

The system of the referee bringing his aged mates to the game to act as umpires should be changed with lads trained in the rules, miked to the ref and appointed on ability. Dream on.....

James o Donoghue hit the nail square on the head with regards to this on the Football Pod yesterday. The majority of umpires around the county are truly ‘going along for the day out’. Thats grand to a point at club level but at senior inter county level they have to be bringing some sort of value to the position otherwise an alternative system has to be found

Could be argued that the umpire role is of higher significance than the linesmen, who in IC matches are all IC referees. The biggest decision a linesmn will make is whether the play is going one way or another well outside the scoring zone. Umpires, at times are asked to decide result changing calls. Would it not make more sense for IC matches that at least 1 umpire is on the IC referees panel. The players put too much into this, and deserve better than relying on a fella on a day out

Was it the same umpire signaled David’s point from a penalty as a wide?
One of the few times an umpire “saw” something was when Michael Fitzimons challenged him after David Gough awarded a free to DC in the second half of the All-Ireland . David Gough consulted with the umpire who “ agreed “ with Michael Fitzimons . The referee then agreed with both and reversed his decision. It was a crucial intervention.
The only other time I saw something similar happen again involved Mr. Gough and an umpire. A high ball went in from Dublin which the umpire waved wide. Kevin McMenamon raised his arm for a forty five. David Gough , who was positioned in the midfield area, agreed with the Dublin player and awarded the forty five , over ruling the umpire this time. Kerry the fall guy on both occasions!
The moral of the story being , it is difficult to get a contentious decision in your favour against Dublin irrespective of whether the umpire is for you or against you.

I was at the game and did nt notice anything and if you look at the clip the Kerry players did nt either including a few right beside Jason so Id give the umpires a pardon on that one.One of them would have been going for the green flag at that stage. Mick there is absolutely no ambiguity with that video. He clearly stamps not stands on Jason's ankle.

He also missed a blatant shoulder to the chest of Peter Crowley in the 2016 semi final. A moment when we were 1 point down and that foul resulted in a 2 point lead for Dublin. Remarkable for a ref that prides himself on seeing a lad being fouled from the other end of the pitch. Always Kerry funnily enough.

Having watched the game back and the few clips going around social media today it does look like a nasty stamp and there's only one man who knows whether it was intentional or not.
On a side note I actually thought Dara Roche had a very effective game at full forward. He was involved in at least 3 scores and getting on the score sheet himself with a lovely point off the left peg. If I recall he set up the first for Joe, having a role in the contentious penalty decision as he slipped and the ball ending up straight to Seanie and he was quickest to react to Seanies free off the post and actually instead of being selfish and go for the score himself he steadied himself and played the right pass to David.
Hopefully he gets another start the weekend because while some might feel he's not up to this level personally I actually think he suits Clifford down to the ground having him as a target man inside with him and clearly there's a telepathy from their time in the East Kerry full forward line allowing Seanie to do more of what he's good at in the half forward line

I agree Dara Roche is a solid inside forward and has the physical presence but there s only room for two inside forward s DC and one other SOS you would think would be the ideal partner For DC but I can’t figure out why it dosent seem to be as effective as it could be many here complain that Seanie dosent stay up the field enough I’d concur but is he ever going to do this ? If not I’d play him at 11 with him and DOC switching Multiple times during the game Last years game V Tyrone DOC played outside SOS in a one off and I thought it worked really well But have not see them doing that since IF SOS plays at 11 we could rotate in multiple good corner forward s throughout the game such as Steven And Geaney Roche and Spillane

I can't get around it either myself personally I think Seanie would be the ideal partner for David inside but from what I've seen whether it's Seanie himself or whether it's a management tactic Seanie finds himself coming out alot leaving David inside by himself. I'd much rather 2 up at all times and I actually think Roche suits him as a partner in crime with Geaney replacing Roche with 20 mins to go like last weekend I think it could become effective but time will tell. I think he deserves a chance at least

No that was an accident lads. And I don't think it affected what happened a few minutes later. However unless it created a weakness there which lead to the ankle instability on landing. I felt his leg got trapped with other player leg on landing the second time. You've got to be joking. That was a deliberate stamp. It's taken me until now after about watching it ten times to come round to the idea it was deliberate but the fact no players complained or wasn't picked up at time puts a doubt in my head still. Could anyone confirm it was the leg he injured a few minutes later. It looks like opposite leg. I'd be alot more aggrieved it was same leg

Of course the umpire was in situ but you don’t expect an umpire to notice something untoward! As regards which leg was trodden on etc , this should be easily confirmed by looking at the incident and at Jason’s limping departure from the pitch. I am surprised that one needs to view the incident ten times to ascertain its scurrilous intent. A despicably , cowardly act on a prone opponent.

"Cathal Heneghan has been handed a proposed one-match ban for an incident involving Jason Foley in Sunday’s Roscommon-Kerry Division 1 game in Dr Hyde Park." John Fogarty, Irish Examiner.
He got off light.
Insufficient evidence to prove it was an intentional stamp apparently!!

disgraceful. absolute shambles, when you see punishments handed out in the past for minor incidents, this must be enraging for Jason the the management team.
either it was an accident and no punishment or if they believe he did something wrong, which they clearly do, it should be a serious punishment.

I'm reminded of Paddy Russell's poor notebook and the length of the ban imposed.

The GAA's close to non-existent approach to discipline and the farcical lack of punishment for all types of offences continues to mean that any player who goes out to consistently play fair and play the game the right way is effectively placing themselves and their team at a continuous disadvantage. It's an ongoing stain on the reputation of the association.

Insufficient evidence to signify intent? The logical conclusion then is that the incident was accidental. Yet, this innocent boy is being tormented with a one match ban. Presumably, the Roscommon County Board will appeal to European Court of Justice. Fair play demands that they do.
I suppose the one match ban was imposed to appease those savages from the mountains.
In the meantime, Jason is hit with a ban embracing several matches. I get it . I really do.
Not for the first time the Disciplinary Committee of the GAA waltzes down the slapstick comedy route.

Peter Crowley got 8 weeks for spraying a water bottle in 2019 if I'm not mistaken.
Yet you can injure a fellow player in the most cowardly way and get a 1 game ban.
