Hope the same team more or less starts again now that obeaglaioch is out for a while what do ye think ? The number 6 is still the problem so don’t see Morley back so soon but knowing jack he’ll probably start Murphy. I would bring Diarmuid in midfield and maybe start Seán O’Brien in the halfback and make one change in the forwards maybe Conar Geaney or Roche corner forward. Who said OBeaghlaoich was out for a while ?

I thought Beagleoich had a very good first half and was surprised he didn't appear in 2nd half, he did get a bang under the pavilion but didn't hear or read anything after?,
I would move Sean O'Brien to 5, Graham to 6 and Tom to 4... I my opinion Murohy isn't an option

Obeaglaioch has leg Injury maybe calf hope not out for long. Yes agree Graham should be out the field, but it all depends who you’re playing sure if Foley took his goal chance the full back line would have outscored the full forward line. Against the dubs there wasn’t much roaming going on unlike the last night. On another note don’t know what the Mike Breen at center back talk is about its not like he played there much for county before only for club.

“ A serious player going forward” . I always feel a little uneasy when one of our defenders is described thus. Tom is a genuine threat going forward , sometimes overdoes it, but that trait didn’t serve us well last weekend when he operated at CHB. Now , some here are advocating that a genuine corner back, Graham O’Sullivan, should be brought out field as another “going forward threat”. I always advocate starting at the back with players who are genuine defenders in their optimal positions. The gong forward aspect is secondary. This particularly applies to the full back line, the bedrock of any team.
CHB is a problem at present. Ciarraimick made the imaginative suggestion of Adrian Spillane. I suspect that neither of us has seen Adrian play there. What qualities has he that suggests he might be a success at number six? He is tall , strong , athletic, oodles of stamina and a degree of niggle that is better suited to a defender than attacker. What is not to like about those qualities ? Lacks experience of that position of course but why not throw him in there for a few games. Otherwise we will never know.. Certainly , with that experiment , that area of the field is unlikely to be worse served than it was last Saturday night. Unlikely to happen. More likely the deck chairs will merely be rotated at the back and up front.

Veteran, Correct me if I'm mistaken but Graham is not a natural corner back by that I mean he plays further out the field for Dromid. Yes I want out defenders to primarily be defenders but we have an issue getting scores outside the Clifford's and Seanie. We also don't seem to want to take a player on when we have the opportunity. I see Graham as a footballer that is with respect offering more than being corner back. I caveat that with we obviously need someone to replace him in the corner back role.

As regards Graham playing further out the field for his club, sure most intercointy players who play for their county in the full back line play further out the field for their clubs.. I agree with you that we have a dearth of players willing to take on an opponent . I made that point in my after match comments. However, wanting Graham to take on that role is a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul. Graham “ offering more than being a corner back” . I think this is the nub of the difference between us. As I repeatedly say, I regard the full back line as the most important line on the team. It isn’t a lifetime ago since people said the incomparable Seamus Moynihan was wasted at fullback. Now conceivably , he may have been more devastating further out the field but I ask you , would we have won that All-Ireland if Seamus was not in our full back line that year.

I couldn't agree more with this assertion Veteran regarding Graham O Sullivan. Marc Ó Sé was arguably the most gifted of the Ó Sé brothers in terms of skill. Marc could easily have played in the half forward line. In fact he togged out on more than one occasion at 11 for An Gaeltacht. Yet he became one of the games best corner backs at Inter County level. To move Graham out of his corner back berth would signal panic stations. Our full back line is in good nick and to tamper with that to me is non-negotiable.

My suggestion is completely hypothetical and will never happen anyway!

Now conceivably , he may have been more devastating further out the field but I ask you , would we have won that All-Ireland if Seamus was not in our full back line that year. Graham doesn’t play as a traditional corner back though… 70% of the game he’s up in the forward line winning ball with his back to goal… he’s played like this under instruction from mike quirke I’d be thinking… his best game for us was 2022 all Ireland final and he played most of his ball that day in Galway’s half just as he is doing again from game week 1… Having watched Graham live, i always see him up the pitch but rarely running out for a 50/50 with a corner forward unlike tom or Jason. Next game if anyone is at or watching from TV, keep an eye on Graham. I don’t know if I like this style, as sometimes maybe our forwards above need space and room to operate. Graham is fantastic at what he does but why not stick joey nagle, Dylan casey, paul Murphy any of them in the corner back spot and let Graham actually play a proper footballers role and wing forward is a place that fits the bill. Less responsibility of a wing back and can play freely expressive football. I’d argue with anyone that outside of the Clifford’s , Graham is our most purest footballer, his kick passing is sensational also. Stamina, fast. comfortable on the hall.

Jacks team selection can usual be fairly stable game to game, but after last weeks first half, we will definitely see changes in tonight’s selection.
I expect Monaghan to have a right crack at us, but they can leave themselves open with their all out attack, so I would expect plenty space and opportunity for our forward line, so kerry to win this one, but I would like to see Paudie back, the boys are training I assume, so it’s just about how much work has he done, he co would just seriously increase our options in the forward line.

Yes, that is true, but if say Jack did start either Clifford, that would really restrict their defense as an offensive launch Pad. If at least one extra defender has to remain in situ, then that results in one less attacking player on the overlap. I don't know though will Jack be bringing either Fossa lad, even the journey alone would be draining, not to mind actually togging and playing. Actually speaking of Fossa, is their midfielder Rennie in with the panel?

This forum is nothing with Veteran - certainly gives a greater understanding of things.
I have had amazing life experiences watching games with those who can read the a game, in one instance a female and another day with two men from the enemy side, vs Monaghan in Clones in 18, the day of the James O'D, Donaghy Clifford last minute goal for the draw.
Maybe we might meet up at a match - why not?

More balance to this team and a lovely bench. A strong bench but is it panic?Jack said he was nt bringing the Cliffords back until Mayo game.Glad Burke getting another chance and Conor Geaney. I would imagine the Cliffords will be used on a needs must basis. If Kerry are comfortable from the start I can't see them getting too many minutes. Jack definitely won't want to see Kerry having 2 defeats from 2 and ending up in a relegation dog fight.

So sad only one from north of Tralee on the3 panel and as opposed to questioning merit, I'm feeling NK is letting the side down.
Ah maybe I want the good old days back - O'Donoghues, Bomber, Ogie, Horse and Jimbog with a few Bally' Walshs! Still at least we have wan Ballydonoghoor and our parish has links with Monaghan going 'way back which always adds to the affair - a once removed son of Ballydonoghgue and who likes nothing more that biking it down the country to watch us play is ASP. Mixed emotions running through in his veins Sunday at 1am and no better company to have.
I think Jack read this right - Mon will see what Derry did in our own backyard and so not taking any chances. Also look what we did to France in their own backyard tonight, bearing in mind Jack made already made his move in this context.

Only catching up on this now spent an unscheduled night in A&E with my daughter.
Some wonderful people work in our hospitals.
Initially I was disappointed to see the Clifford's in the 26 but it was pointed out that they've not played since mid November.
Hopefully thats a sufficient break and I'd imagine they are itching to go.
Much better looking 15 than last week but would still have reservations around 6.

Hopefully thats a sufficient break and I'd imagine they are itching to go. Much better looking 15 than last week but would still have reservations around 6. Hope the daughter is doing well. I agree we have some amazing doctors, nurses and other people working in our hospitals. They work very hard, for little pay at times. On the team: I'm delighted to see Conor Geaney getting a start and another for Dylan Geaney. We need scorers and find a few new players. That is why Burke back in the team is important as well as another start for Joe O'Connor. Disappointed to see the Cliffords there and Morley as I had hoped we might not need them yet. Hopefully they can just enjoy the game, but I doubt it unless Kerry are well ahead. Jack needs to win this game to avoid a relegation battle already. We have lost to Cork in controversial circumstances, and to Derry in a game we could have won, in the last two games, so I'm thinking we are doing well building towards the championship. But...without Morley we are open at the back and without the Cliffords we don't score enough. I'm sure that the Geaneys, and keeping in mind perhaps Paul Geaney is due to come back as well, and Sean O'Shea can get a good score on the board. But we have too many forwards that won't or can't score. A forward needs to score, that is what they are for. Yesterday a memory came up reminding me that Paul Galvin retired from football. We used to have 6 forwards that could all score from anywhere within 45 yards of the goal, and midfielders that would chip in with a few points as well. Now we have forwards that perhaps are better defensively and work hard, and all that, but they seem reluctant or unable to get scores. For Kerry to play the Kerry way we need a few more scoring forwards and I had hoped the forwards would be given a good run in the league to discover such scoring threats. We will have learned little if we bring on the Cliffords.

I don't envy my mam as a single mother for a few years and 5 kids. Even when she remarried we were still a handful. When I was 5 I decided to play hide and seek on the roof in winter and if it wasn't for the ice on the frozen pond breaking my fall I would have been killed. As it happened I broke every bone in my left arm and had to learn how to write with my right arm instead. To this day I still switch hands when writing and can't write legible with either hand Give your daughter some extra care the next few weeks and a bowl of ice cream every now and then.

Yes, a much better balanced team this time.
Glad to see the four "break through" players in the forwards.
Paul at centre back is not a concern, presumably they have a plan to make it work.
That could be our midfield for a long time if they can work together.
I hope neither of the Cliffords are not called on. One week into the season and the plans are changed having been backed into a corner because of a bad selection problem.
The team are entitled to the benefit of the doubt for being slow to shoot because of a difficult diagonal wind last week. If conditions are favourable we have to give young, hungry, forwards an opportunity to show what they can do. We have the players its how we play that is the problem.
