Kerry in a weird predicament at the moment. Lose to Tyrone and they could well be dragged back into a relegation battle. Win in Tyrone and we are probably looking good for a potential league final place. So this game is crucial. Tyrone have always upped their game vs Kerry so even with Tyrone bottom of the table I would still fear them especially in their home patch. Kerry weren't great on Saturday but they were up against a very deep blanket defence for 70 minutes, the fact we won was encouraging depsite being frustrated for large parts. If I were Jack I would have Stefan Okunbor in from the start again, his physicality will be needed in this game and he deserves another start after what I thought was a MOTM performance vs Armagh Saturday.

Never a bad time to beat Tyrone.

I expect a big challenge from Tyrone on Sunday, they are at home, they’re hurting, the results are poor, but I have seen some good performances in patches over the league.
I do think they’re missing some leadership in the team, but be guaranteed they will be up for Kerry.
As with Jack’s team selection, expect the same starting 15 on Sunday.

Tyrone were unlucky not to be 6 points up against Mayo as they missed a goal and Mayo went down the field and scored a goal themselves which completely changed the course of the match. It's not Tyrone like to be that flaky.

This would be a good test for the newcomers, for Roche, Warren, Donal O'Sullivan and Barry O'Sullivan so should start all 4. Tyrone currently bottom so will be going put all guns blazing. This will tell a lot more than any Munster Championship game about a player.

I’d expect it to be mostly the same starting team. Maybe a change in the FF line with Donal Down for Dara Roche. I wonder will we have any of the injured players back.

Tyrone are like a boxer hanging on the ropes. It's a cause now for them to beat Kerry. They have to to have any hope in staying in division 1. And they want to. Tyrone people are also very bitter about all the talk about a soft All ireland. That talk was fine coming from Tyrone when it was Kerry winning and if you'd believe Tyrone people Kerry only won one or two All Irelands fairly. They'd be hurting and they'd be wanting to show Kerry are a one pony team,. Kerry did very well against Armagh though and I'd say Armagh are ahead of Tyrone at the moment. So, we can beat Tyrone. We can drive the nail in and get them almost surely relegated. I would say that secretly every Kerry person, every player and certainly Jack would love to be the ones that heap so much trouble on Tyrone. Sure, we care more about Kerry staying in division 1, but anytime we can get doubts into Tyrone minds we should be doing it. Tyrone crumbles and they were absolutely rattled against Mayo. They're fragile minded at the moment and we need to use that. Don't let them get ahead, don't let them gain confidence, drive the nail very deep into the coffin.

Part of an article from Saturday's Itish News.
Unsurprised by the mindset, surprised Morgan was so open about it...
Before anyone asks, I didn't take a pic of the full article so I can't reproduce it all but the general gist of the rest of the article is that Tyrone have nothing to lose and if they get angry...
PS I didn't type out the article (not thst bothered by Tyrone thankfully), my phone can copy text from a picture and then I pasted it into here. I am highly impressed by this technology!!
c.okane@irishnews.com
When Tyrone took their now infamous pasting in Killarney months before their All-Ireland success in 2021, they took the bus into the town and as they stepped off, the Kerry supporters clapped them.
It wasn't sarcastic applause; or at least it didn't feel that way. At the time, the Tyrone players thought nothing of it. But by the time they met again in the All-Ireland semi-final, the Tyrone mindset had turned it into something even they knew it wasn't. "It didn't feel like it was sarcastic,it actually felt like they were genuine GAA people. Then as Tyrone do, we ended up turning it at the end of the year, 'Remember, they clapped us off the bus', but we love doing that in Tyrone, get the chip in our shoulder and we use anything we can at all as motivation," said Niall Morgan on Shane Rice's podcast.
For all the modern sciences Tyrone are at their best with a chip on the shoulder. They need something to be angry at Something bigger than the week-to-week stuff. It's not unique to this generation.
In the years they didn't win Sam between 2003 and '08, they were knocked out by Laois, Meath and an average Mayo. Right now, Tyrone are a passive team.
It's not quite as simple as just mindset, but then so much of what is going wrong is within their power to fix.
For all the talk about players departing, the Roscommon game 3 weeks ago was the first time since The All Ireland that Tyrone had used fewer than 14 of the 20 players used on the field that day.

Seoirse, Tyrone are like ourselves and don't like criticism.Who does? Many Tyrone people speak very highly of Kerry but of course some don't.Are we any diferent? We hate it when people say we won soft all Irelands. So do Tyrone. Many said they won a soft All Ireland and I don't blame them for getting mad.We did the honourable thing but they beat us.End Of.Their title win is as good as ours and Dublins.I often feel we are more concerned about Tyrone and Dublin than ourselves.Hope we get something out of Omagh Sunday but wont lose any sleep over it. You are totally correct, but you can be sure that Tyrone people feel it that way. Nobody likes to be criticised and I'm sure that I speak for all Kerry people that the recent famine was way too long and it hurt badly. Just like we hate it when we're told we won a soft all Ireland they hate it too. Nevertheless that was what was said by some. Doesn't even have to be Kerry people. They have a score to settle with Kerry, or so they feel, and they are desperate for a win. Kerry too need a win, but perhaps less urgently. Mayo humiliated Kerry and humiliated Tyrone: are we both equally unprepared? Tyrone rarely peak too early so perhaps they are like Kerry building and training for the summer. I still think they will make beating Kerry a cause though. They need a cause so they will make it one.

Well, speaking as someone who’s actually from Tyrone, it’s quite evident that the main concern at the moment is the dire form of the team and there’s increasing complaints about whether the management are up to it. I think talk of a soft All-Ireland nearly a year and a half ago isn’t the big discussion at the moment among supporters, who on the whole seem pretty jaded. Find some of the assumptions (made by one poster who I assume by the phrasing of his posts doesnt have many interactions with Tyrone people) made in this topic to be fairly wide of the mark. Take a look at Tyrone GAA’s social media posts after recent results and the reaction from supporters - you’ll see what Tyrone GAA people are really thinking. The criticism has been really ramped up after largely giving the team the benefit of the doubt.

I was really surprised as I thought Tyrone would have a good league given the disappointment of last season. It appears something isint right in that camp but a win on Sunday will change the narrative that's how fickle sport is. I think the soft all ireland talk was reignited by Conn Kilpatricks recent BBC podcast which was a good listen. He fought some demons and its good hear he is doing better now.

Tyrone will have to up their game on what i have seen last few weeks and i think they will. I'd be expecting something similar to last week a tight physical affair hope fully with a similar result in our favour.

Nearly every team that plays Kerry, especially with the 2 Cliffords playing will defend with 14 inside their own 45. I don't know what the hell happened Monaghan but they completely collapsed in on this plan which served them well for 35 minutes. As a result, Kerry will be involved in some very forgettable league matches, but that's not our fault. I'd expect aswell that we'd have the perseverance to break down the blanket defense enough times to come away with a win.

It is indeed priority one to stay in division 1 for now, but to do that beating Kerry in Omagh is vital. I personally think that Tyrone have the best forward lines in Ireland bar Kerry, but they're not firing. Tyrone have always prided themselves on great defending, but they have not exactly done that either so far in the league. Tyrone are at their best when they have a cause and their backs to the wall. I'm sure they will find a cause to unite behind, but I hope it will be after this Sunday. I'm really looking forward to visiting Omagh again.

Nearly every team that plays Kerry, especially with the 2 Cliffords playing will defend with 14 inside their own 45. That's quite a depressing thought and you'd worry about the future of the thing really. Last Saturday we had a packed house at ASP and a game that was close all the way through. Which should have meant a cracking atmosphere and a tense, exciting contest. It was none of that. Aside from the last few minutes, the game was frustrating and boring and the terrace was flat (in my experience anyway though it sounded a bit better watching it back, I have to say). And whereas you'd expect to feel elated after a badly-needed win, the feeling at fulltime was more a mixture of relief and disappointment. Hate to think this is the way it's going to be. You'd wonder sometimes, do kids growing up now dream of someday being part of a 15-man defence?

Big game for both sides . Tyrone are always motivated to play kerry as they enjoy beating them . They’ll be a big home crowd there . This definitely a game not to experiment . We need the win

Looking forward to Sunday’s early clash, Kerry is in a much better place than they were seven days previous, the display in Castlebar may be more down to a block of training and the continued absence of key players. Last Saturday night was a much more cohesive, patient and measured performance. What most pleased me was neither Seanie, or either Clifford were the masters on this occasion but more an en-block or team effort. Regardless of that statement, the side benefited from the returning all-star quartet. That and the returning Tenplenoe wing forward added a much more physical aspect to our play and blocked the channels that were more open and free compared to the previous week.
There was some very pleasing displayed last week, and what most pleased me is a game of similar pattern would have been lost 24 months ago, there is a different steel to this team and the result was of similar battling qualities of the Mayo league game of 2022 at the same venue.
The last comment I will make on last Saturday night was the half time children entertainment, I first encountered this in Leinster few years back, I think it’s heart-warming and innocent. Some poster alluded to the fact that the County Board were leaving themselves open to legal ramifications. I envisage the majority of supporters in situ are Gaa members, we all know one cannot sue an organisation that one is a member of,.. anyway, that’s just ramblings of an old man.
Looking ahead, I think the display of last weekend will be rewarded and I am of the belief that one does not change or alter a winning team, Jack alluded to the returning Brian O’Beagleoich, Gavin White and Paul Geaney, it will be interesting to see if any of these trio will make an appearance Sunday.
It was also interesting to note the pecking order of Killian Spillane and Gavin Crowley, either way, Jack is freshening his squad accordingly.

Yeah, they are but still they persist and they're ruining the game as a spectacle. Saw a lad on Saturday night, in possession, doing the hand-up thing they do to kill the play (and it was snail's pace already). This was in the third quarter. It'd make you cry.

It's a blight alright pace is the key Armagh blocked the middle and 13 channel with loads of bodies. Morley and murphy made decent inroads in first half and on a bigger pitch and harder ground we wouldve made more hay there with beaglaoich and in particular white go return id be more confident of breaking the lines better come summer

Horsebox I agree that that game might have been lost in the past. Similar, in ways, to the SF Kerry lost to Tyrone in 2021. I thought it would take us ages to replace David Moran. Stefan has emerged though and , whether he starts MF or as a half back, his presence around the middle will be vital for (long) kickouts. The kick passing will be worked on. There were two kicks dropped short and one out of character wide the last night. I'm confident enough going to Omagh. A repeat of last year's League final is possible and a good hard game before the Munster championship would be brilliant. May not pan out that way at all but with Galway missing their top men and Roscommon in Tralee it's possible.

There's only 2 national titles you can win and it would set us up for the championship. A chance to beat Mayo would be welcome too.

League suits us best with the break to serious Championship stuff so we need to make sue of that, otherwise we are untested and which isn't how we want to facing key opponents and who will be game hardened.
Ulster and Connaught were never more competitive, Leinster and Munster were never worse?

The key could be what Galway want or want to get out of in their last game with us, they may be in a league final position but not wanting to be there, could be. Half dead runner.
I expect a very close game on Sunday, Tyrone always raise themselves for us and for that reason, I can only see a tight tight win at the very best. I also think we will get a result against Roscommon

Winning the league is never a priority but of course Jack would love to win it but let's think about retaining div 1 status first. I think out ambition should be greater than survival. We have an opportunity to get a competitive game before a weak Munster championship. A win at home and a draw in 1 of our 2 away games should be enough.

I don't want to come across as a crank but last Saturday there were groups of kids roaming around throwing bottles up in the air and kicking footballs, not thinking who they could hit. I witnessed four kids around 12 years old approaching a table where lads were selling programs and trying to swipe coins off their table.
If they were that young they obviously had to come in with an adult. I was speaking to an Armagh supporter the following morning getting our coffee and he mentioned the behaviour of kids. I was glad it wasn't just me.
Do parents not take responsibility for their kids anymore.
And I love seeing gangs of kids on the pitch at halftime. Parnell Park is fabulous at halftime during a hurling match in particular when hundreds of kids go out with hurl and sliotar. It even happens at Club games. But when the teams come out the kids leave the pitch.
Enthusiastic youth is a great thing but some just don't care who they annoy. And God forbid that some steward would try to stop little Johnny having his fun.
It's probably a reflection on society and wouldn't be confined to GAA matches.

Yeah, a lot of stuff going on last Saturday that you don't normally get at these games. A crowd behind the Horan's end, not sure who they were, seemed to be at the centre of much of it. Coming in late for starters, disrespecting the minute's silence, repeatedly encroaching on the pitch during the game. Several Kerry footballs were liberated from next to the dugout at HT. That's really not on and it's unusual to see.
