Yes Dublin have gone backwards but will probably be a different animal come championship. You are judging Dublin by league performances. Are you forgetting our displays v Donegal and Mayo? and we are expecting to win All Ireland. Many wrote Dublin off last year and we scraped by them. Many wrote Tyrone off the year before and they won All Ireland. Dublin are getting too much credit for losing to Kerry, should also bear in mind that Dublin were lucky to still be in the game. Only for the missed penalty and O'Brien missing a simple goal chance Kerry would have been 12 points up. I totally agree, Kerry made a easy enough job difficult. The game should have been over at half time. I expect Dublin to be much better in this year's championship though with the return of Mannion and especially McCaffrey and Con O'Callaghan.

We were much better and yet we needed a wonder point to win. Dublin will be stronger this year. Will we? Will they? IF they get all their boys on the field but and it's a big if.. I got slated last year by many for saying it.. They still depend on lads in their 30s.. Rock is a passenger now... I'd worry about them but the fear has gone.

What has happened to Leinster football. 2 countries with the largest growth in population in the last 20 years, Kildare and Meath couldn't win today in Division 2. Are Louth the second best team in Leinster now!

Anyone else think the ref is riding Galway? I thought the same. Mayo just seemed to get frees easier and yeah the Mayo keeper could have walked.

Great conditions for football today, sun out and not a puff of wind but low scoring games both. Containment and safety first is the order of the day it seems. Some great defending but lets be honest it's forward play that puts people on the edge of their seats. In fairness to the Dubs they had Derry well studied and knew point scoring opportunities would be far and few between, accordingly they went straight at the goals every chance they got.

Both Mayo and Galway went for goals when they clearly weren't on, not the stuff of any final - count them up and it might have been a different outcome.
Neither Galway or Dubs show danger.
Anyone tell us a bit about 'peak fitness' - what is the lead in time and how long can GAA athletes sustain it? Of course the context is the shortened season. Any of us know the science here?

The Dubs laid down a marker today, they have real danger in their forwards , Galway or Mayo don’t. Shane Walsh is class but spent most of second half around the middle. Football is ugly in its current guise.

I think Dublin is building a nice blend of experience and youth. There’s plenty wisdom and knowledge in that Dublin dressing room and backroom. I agree the Championship is wide open to an extent but because of their provinces Dublin and Kerry do have an advantage over others in how they can time for peaking.
Dublin at home in Croke Park is a massive factor and the directness in their play make them the main threat in my view. How many sides would have just stopped outside the D and recycled the ball from wing to wing ad nauseam against Derry? Most.
Dublin are smart, they knew kicking 20 points was not on so they went for the jugular time after time and made good defenders look quite porous. Number one the Dubs showed courage, close ball control, excellent hand skills and going forward at pace with weaving jinky runs unlocked the door to the Derry defensive wall. Dublin could have had several more goals and they hunted for them. A lesson for all and the team that wins this All Ireland will need to be just as smart and brave.
PS. Dublin did have some good fortune with a couple of their goals but as they saying goes - the more they tried, the luckier they got.

4 weeks and 1 League later and interesting to see the odds movement as per PP latest. Mayo, Galway and Tyrone all shortened, Derry gone out. Tyrone e/w 20/1 a month ago good value. Dublin should really be favourites. Kerry 7/4 Dublin 5/2 Mayo 6/1 Galway 13/2 Tyrone 14/1 Derry 14/1

The bookies certainly think Dublin can win the all-ireland Kerry 13/8 Dublin 9/4 Mayo 8/1 Galway 8/1 Derry 12/1 Tyrone 20/1 From Paddy power I think it's either of Kerry Mayo Dublin. The perfect bet is 20e on Dublin and 20e on Mayo. Dubs win a bit of profit. Mayo win even more profit and if Kerry win I'm sure no one will mind being down 40e.id take it! A win win bet for me! That's very good odds on Tyrone for a team that have won the All-Ireland more recently than Dublin. They must be forgetting the competitive nature of the Ulster Championship is no longer a factor and Tyrone start the Championship proper at the same stage as everyone else. Edit: Actually Tyrone are now 14/1
