Watched some Clare v Laois hurling match on TG4 on Sunday. Reading online commentary from those travelling to and based in Ennis on Sunday, I was surprised that it went ahead. Player welfare my eye.

Glengeal you are spot on player injury is just another tick the box effort as many things are with this organisation. Injury’s are on the rise according to J. Fogarty and Munster are narrowly behind Leinster, Ulster and Connaught doing better. With all the player injury prevention technology we are worst off then in 2016 with ankle, hip and shoulder injuries, improvements see in knees. Playing games in those conditions last weekend is an amateur approach.

Fabulous for the Dubs to be able to blood their new up and coming young players week on week in Dubs Park. Even if it is almost empty. Let's continue to water the young snowdrops.........

By God, Galway were good today (albeit against 14 then 13 men), 2-25 in February is some going. Padraic Joyce has them playing proper stuff. I'd say they could go on and win the league outright. One thing from what I saw; their tackling miles apart from Kerry's, proper defending.

Agree Galway fabulous today showed some beautiful football. Kerry have gone backwards from last year and need to look at defensive coaching because they were poor today. Yes, Kerry won but physical looked weak and relying on frees in front of posts. Who are in the back room team and coaches for Kerry this year?

Sad to see Cathal McShane stretchered off today. Class player. Bad ankle injury according to Mickey Harte. Don't agree with his comments on the McGeary red card. It was a reckless head high tackle with the elbow. Conor Lane could have taken easy option of a yellow given it was early enough in the game, but made the right call.

I think you could be missing the point of why they put in the paywall. I've come to the opinion that we should only post links to articles on this forum, and not lift the entire article. Surprised it's not an official forum policy to be honest.

It’s February for the other 31 county’s also and are working on S and C with little emphasis on football. Yes Kerry won on scoring difference but Galway won the battle.

Home town decisions have been a factor in sport forever. If Dublin get to the AI final this year it is likely they will play 12 of 16 games in their de facto home stadium. Same dressing room, safe routine for every match, no travel, sleeping in your own bed the night before the game. Yet you will still have otherwise intelligent people saying stuff like 'it wasn't a factor pre 2011'.

The current time keeping system is totally unsatisfactory. We need 40 minute plus halves now, blow the whistle. Dublin got 7 extra minutes plus in the drawn final last year, Kerry got 5 minutes extra time in the replay. People can form their own opinions...................

The Leinster Chanpionship is untenable now. Dublin won't be beaten there for the foreseeable future. Kerry & Mayo will go up and have a cut off it regardless.

Of course it is entirely coincidental that their current run of success started shortly thereafter. The same Dublin people will also say money is not the reason for their success. Money doesn’t kick the ball over the bar etc etc.

All other county boards have the expense of maintaining county grounds - Dublin use Croke Park and just wondering if they rent or otherwise pay for its use or is this yet another financial boost for Dublin GAA.

All other county boards have the expense of maintaining county grounds - Dublin use Croke Park and just wondering if they rent or otherwise pay for its use or is this yet another financial boost for Dublin GAA. Over 10 years ago a group of GAA people in Dublin decided, with the OK from the County Board, to open discussions with Croke Park re the rental of Croke Park for Dublin football games. Initially they were told that it was not on. But they made the point that if it was OK to have concerts, why not have Dublin games. Eventually a rental figure was agreed on and with an approx. attendance of 30,000 ( I am not sure of the exact figure), they would break even. Even it was short of the 30k?? it was still a very good investment having so many followers attending games. So a gamble was taken and so far it is paying off. Attendances at Dublin club league games is so small that no gates are taken and with the exception of the Senior football championship final, attendances at other championship games are quite low. If Dublin County games were fixed for Parnell Park, very few away supporters would be able to attend.

But do you think it makes sense to build a 40 to 50k stadium to host 3/4 league games and max 2 leinster champ games per year. Brand new stadium for 6 games?

Kerry didn't score for the last 12 mins of the first game, with an extra man. How long did you want? But actually agree with your timekeeping point.

Professional manager not working too well. How come Kildare compete underage every step of the way. Meath to give credit are back in Div 1. Munster has been a joke since God was a boy.

In the same 7 years only 1 Leinster county has reached the final, Kilkenny. It's very difficult to promote football in counties when all the hype and excitement is directed towards the hurling team, Dublin aside the football situation in Leinster is in a bad way, but it's not down to popularity of hurling which is the case in Munster

Leinster 9% participation vs Munster 50% participation

go build a stadium that holds 26k Always you. They will need a stadium on the Southside for when the inevitable split up of Dublin comes so they might as well get cracking. Split will be in 2025 i reckon.

The lot of the intercounty player seems to have worsened since the GPA arrived. They now playing on rugby pitches putting life and limb at risk.
I wonder do the GPA have a view on this.

It's a one horse race except when Cork occasionally rouse themselves. The problem I have is that some folk try to paint the poor quality of Leinster as being Dublin's fault. I don't think anyone has ever blamed the quality of Munster football on Kerry. Would you be in favour of an open draw or Champions League type format?
