Is it that bad? Yes, yes it is.
Tactics and the handpass.
A win at all costs attitude.
Half empty stadiums with no atmosphere.
Congress and it's impossible ways to introduce change and transparency.
Adhering to Provincial councils which worked in the 40's, 50's and 60's.
Club v county.
What can we do? I'm fed up and miss the game I loved.

Southward well said. Like you I have grown increasingly disenchanted with the inter county game. Unfortunately the ills have also spread to the senior club game. I prefer watching the game from club minor age level down nowadays. It's where the football is still played by and large these days. The modern inter county game isn't all bad but like all sports needs two things. 1. A crowd to create an atmosphere 2. Those in charge to react to trends in the game that negatively affect it. These aren't always where they need to be.
One last point is the obscene money being spent on senior teams This is driven by a stupid system well past its sell by date. The money wasted could be better spent on helping clubs and their many pressured volunteers.

With regards to the atmosphere, you'd very much hope the GAA will reconsider Croke park as the neutral venue during the Super 8 phase. It was soul destroying in their last Sunday. Never again!

Football needs small provincial championship venues.

Cork albeit the hurlers look like they may win a trophy this year!

Football needs small provincial championship venues. 100% agree- kerry v Galway should have been on in Killarney, Galway or limerick. All would have had a better atmosphere and probably higher attendance than last Sunday. It’s gerting idiotic at this stage

Have the GAA forgotten the Dubs travelling to Thurles in 2001 or Kerry/Mayo in Limerick in 2014? Great days. 1/4 finals or neutral Super 8 games should be spread around the country going forward boisting local economies and giving a bit of atmosphere but that would make too much sense.

The massed defense is a legitimate tactic and you would be fairly silly not to employ it as times. Kerry should have done in in the 2011 final towards the end and An Ghaeltacht would be intermediate champs now if they had shut up shop v Moy.
However, its got to the stage now that they will have to consider reducing the number of players to 13 or 12 aside.
And cut down on the number of subs too.
This would help smaller clubs and counties to compete
