Crazy game in Austin Stack Park tonight. St Brendans lead East Kerry at half time 4-06 to 10pts. And could have had another four goals such was East Kerry's defending.
East Kerry fought back in the second half and goaled to equalise in the 33rd minutes of the 2nd half Full time 4-13 to 2-19
Into extra time and Brendans went two up before a goal two minutes from the end won it for East Kerry Full time East Kerry 3-24 St Brendans 4-18

I predict that a lot of the Kerry players will be injured I saw a report saying Bryan Sheehan was substituted after five minutes against Dingle. I can only guess that this was an injury.

Hard to see the winners of the losers beating the winners of the winners! Three of the sides you refer to are divisional sides- notoriously slow out of the blocks and most vulnerable early on.

Anyone at any of the other games over the weekend, apart from the East kerry win? From talking to various folks at various games the general impression I got was. Beyond the two Geaneys, the rest of Dingle lads were very quiet. South Kerry were solid enough - Killian in particular being in great form. East Kerry might be dangerous but still a bit young/inexperienced. Legion were poor enough with West Kerry just being that smidge better on the day - West Kerry will have to improve a lot in the next round to have a chance.

Crokes and Stacks can draw any of the four (South, East, West Kerry, Kenmare Shamrocks) Rahillys can get three but cannot draw South Kerry who they beat earlier. Rathmore can get three but cannot draw East Kerry who they also beat earlier.

I don't think you need to go beyond the 2 Geaneys to find Dingle lads that were quiet! Had a look at the game on the Kerry GAA Facebook page. Mark Griffin did a good job on PG, although the supply in to him wasn't great. Good to see Mark was in great shape following his injury scare v Cork. Killian as you say was very good. The Clifford brothers from Waterville were solid at the back, Brendan O'Sullivan was in good form at midfield, Graham Sullivan did well when he came on, and Ronan Hussey rolled back the years with a great display at full forward. By the way, has anyone who watched the game on FB had a problem with the picture quality becoming blurred at random intervals throughout the game. Great innovation all the same, fair play to those involved.

Quarter Final Draw on Sat Aug 5 at 4.45pm live on Radio Kerry, according to Radio Kerry website.
Shouldn't affect attendance at Croke Park much.

Rathmore at 12/1 to win the county championship out, handy money!

Rathmore at 12/1 to win the county championship out, handy money! I see Crokes are unbackable favourites at 4/6 and South Kerry second favourites at 5/1. Understandable but crazy at the same time - to think three games out such odds are being quoted. Also seems strange that Stacks are third favourites at 7/1 inspite of being demoted from Division 1.

Trying not to be biased here but the only teams that could beat Crokes is Rathmore/South Kerry who are drawn against each other so Crokes in a one off match against either of these suggests to me that 4/6 represents fair value. Stacks a year or maybe 2 years ago were capable of it but not at the moment. Crokes have won 10/10 in County league and are on course for a clean sweep in Kerry this year which I fully expect them to do, it will take a good team to beat them. There are options from the bench that inter county sides don't have.

I was thinking yesterday that despite their dominance of the Co. C'ship and eventual All Ireland win, only Johnny Buckley and Fionn Fitz have come through from Crokes and stayed in the Kerry senior set up in the last few years. Kieran O'Leary was there from 06/07 onwards but never really established himself as a starter but nobody else manages to stake a serious claim.

I don't think anyone in particular is getting a raw deal either. On form, there are a number of players who would not look out of place in the Kerry setup like Gavin White, Shane Murphy and Daithi Casey. I just think Crokes have many players that are close to inter county level but all these players are missing something for the step up. Daithi Casey struggles with consistency but on form he is one of the best forwards in the county, no doubt about it. Gavin White is young and I expect him to be there within a few years. Shane Murphy might be unlucky, I think he's a brilliant keeper but so is Shane Ryan. I actually think John Payne is one of the best corner backs in the county and has never got a chance, he regularly marks the oppositions danger man and more often he comes out with his head held high.....God knows it is a position we are seriously struggling in at the moment. Other than that, I don't think any of the rest of the players are good enough. Jordan Kiely is a very good forward but size is perhaps against him. Tony Brosnan is a very good forward also but can be selfish and decision making can be questionable.

Gavin White is not on the panel, he has trained with them but has not made a panel. He was playing county league last weekend versus Milltown/C. Yes, Shane Murphy is training but it doesn't look like he is going to make a panel anytime soon and for that reason I'm saying he is a little unlucky.

Their faces were looking back at me from last weeks programme so although not in the match day squad- I consider them to be panel members

Will our exit from the AI bring forward the Co Championship schedule? Round 11 of league now down for next weekend I hear. Not likely - minors playing on 17th, intermediate semis will be the week after that - would see double headers in Tralee & Killarney first week end in Oct, similar to last year.
