Irrespective of the result this year I expect there will be no official homecoming event for the minors either - there was none for the u21 hurlers. Its senior success or nothing. Regardless this is a big occassion for the minors and we wish them every success on Sunday - finish the jobs and make history. There was a Hullabaloo last year about Jo homecoming for the minors. The county board says they never give the minors a standalone homecoming. I distinctly remember a home coming for the minors in 1994 in Tralee. It was at the top of Denny street outside the Munster warehouse. Was about 1000 people at it. I definitely think there be some sort of event if they win

The flags only ever go up for the senior team - thereafter it is up to clubs and local communities to make an effort for their young warriors. Pity but understandable in one sense and a bit like the homecoming. Would it kill them to put up a bit of bunting or a few signs? Well then again it might. It's far easier to be lamenting young lads going abroad than show some respect for what they are attempting on Sunday. I was in Kilgarvan recently and the village and Club deserve full credit for their efforts.

Certain KG! Kilgarvan is about a lot more than the HRaes and their spin. A lot of the colour has been up there all summer in fairness.

The feeling is one of optimism as we head to Sunday. Hopefully the can get over the line which would be a tremendous achievement. I think this is probably the weakest of the four teams to get to the final and they're dependent on David Clifford.
Worried that we may be bossed physically especially at midfield and in our full back line. Management also concerned.
Here's hoping for a great game and Kerry to pull through.

As has been the case previously, difficult to compare teams; we had it handy in Munster but form dipped a bit against Louth, albeit winning easily in the end. Cavan played both finalists and got much closer to Derry than to us - in truth, we never looked like being beaten by them. Derry, on the other hand , had a much tougher game against Cavan; Galway beat Sligo who only failed by one point to Derry - Galway beaten by Cavan. Derry may have played their All Ireland vs Dublin - I will go with the 4 in a row based on the calibre of players we have especially Potts, Mahony & Diarmuid O'Connor - of course not forgetting Clifford who will surely have a big bearing on the outcome.

The very best of luck to the minors on Sunday.
I would be very confident that this team can get the job done on Sunday. They have impressed in every game since the stumbled through the 2nd half against Clare the first night out.
I see this thing going around that Derry beat a fancied Dublin team. The same Dublin team were lucky to beat Clare by 5 points. Who Kerry beat by 20 something points in the Munster Final.
It looks like the day will be good weather-wise on Sunday and that should help Kerry, although they managed well enough in the monsoon during the semi final.
The final last year was the only game that Peter Keane will have felt his side didnt really perform to their potential in. A good performance should be enough to see Kerry claim the silverware on Sunday and that is what I expect. Kerry by 5+.

Has the Jack Griffin lad being playing all along?

Plenty of permutations regarding the starting line up - Griffin was half back with the Sem, will he drop back and will we play a sweeper? Clifford to 14 & play alongside Donal O'Sullivan with Fiachra Clifford going to 12 & Friel to centre forward? Think that the latter is most likely as David Clifford & O'Sullivan would be a potent inside line ( Clifford to be double teamed) , allowing Friel etc some more space outside - all very intriguing!

Has the Jack Griffin lad being playing all along? Came in as a sub in the forwards in a few games - played wing back on Sem Hogan cup winning team - looks like he could be employed as a sweeper!?

Has the Jack Griffin lad being playing all along? I don't think Jack has started any game but he has come on in most games and as far as I can recall he scored a goal against Cavan. I am surprised that Doncha O'Sullivan has been dropped. I must confess that I am not at all confident about Sunday.. Kerry were hugely impressive against Cork but seem to have gone off the boil since, the Munster Final being a non event. My worry chiefly centres on the defence which gave away a few soft goals against both Louth and Cavan and contains a couple of players who have struggled at times. We are well served at midfield and in the forwards and the question is will we gain a significant advantage in those areas to compensate for apparent weaknesses further back. I have only seen Derry once, against Dublin. They looked a well balanced side with a couple of exceptional players and doubtless they will have a strategy for David. I will keep my money in my pocket and merely hope for a Kerry win.

Yes i am very suprised that Donacha is dropped, he seem to be playing very well in last two games i have seen other foewards could of went before him but i suppose we dont see wat is happening at trainings. I also agree its from 2to7 i am worried about and this is why i reckon Donacha is been sacraficed for Jack so he will be back as protection for our backs , Eddie horan is another player that i thought would atart did very well when he came on in semi final. There number 14 will take marking and needs to be stopped from getting goals or we be in trouble. We are very realent on DC and DOS for getting our scores with 80% roighly coming from them so i hope they both dont have an off day. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL INVOLVED #4INAROW

Slaughtneill beat Vincents in the club all ireland semi final. The Derry minors beat Dublin....
Clearly a very positive attitude being fed into these teams
You cant but admire the ballsy manner that Derry won that game into the Hill.
I didnt spot any slaughtneill panelist which was a surprise.
The hat will have to be tipped to Derry if they win. The GAA heartland is small with little input from the city.
They put the county ground in the middle of the bogside but i dont know if it helped to grow the game in what is a soccer town.

Still Kerry are very classy and you'd imagine they will be well cautioned.

I'm in the UK and wanted to watch this game on GaaGo but you can only watch it as part of the finals day bundle which includes the senior final and the Sunday game ... However in the uk the senior game can't be broadcast on GaaGo and I don't want to watch the Sunday game ... so how much do I end up having to fork out to see the minor game I hear you ask ... €29 ... yes 29 fecking euros! Are they having a laugh ... so much for thinking of the emigrants who have had to leave Ireland for whatever reason ... greedy barstewards!

Agree. GaaGo are pirates. They were looking 14 euro to watch Tyrone v Armagh quarter final and same again for Dublin v Monaghan.Get f out of here. Seoige was singing their praises tonight, cos they sponsored 2 tickets. Outrageous charges. If needs must I'll keep looking for a free link to a live stream.

Good luck to our Minors today and safe travelling to all lucky enough to have gotten a ticket. We will be out-shouted again today as most neutrals will support Derry I'd imagine.
I would worry about Derry but hopefully our experience will count in the end.

Good luck to the young lads today. Couldn't get a ticket so will settle for radio Kerry with TG4 pictures.
Hopefully we can do the job and make a small bit of history on the last day of this competition. Clifford is easily the best minor I have seen, ahead of even Gooch, delcan and Paddy Curran at the that age ( whatever happened to him? ). No one knows what the future holds for any of these lads.
Kerry to play defensive for the first quarter but hopefully open their shoulders after the change of ends

Clifford is just awesome. 2-2 after 20 mins. 1-1 with each foot and an assist the Gooch would be proud of.

Wow, some half of football. Breathtaking. Clifford is a phenomenon. This minor team has it all, near perfect kick passing, pace, incredible work rate, intelligence on the ball. Derry have no answer. This is an unprecedented level of underage success, surely, some of this can be transferred to senior level in the coming years.
