In the 'Irish Times articles from last weekend' thread it says that Paddy Curran was attending U21 trials last week/weekend. If this is true who is running the trials if we don't have a manager?

Dont know if Maurice has ever managed a team I know he is involved in some uderage stuff with the Marys. John Kennedy would be good at u-21 because the effort had not really gone in there in a while . There is too much talent and no results. I agree he had not gotten the results we would like at minor but in two years he hads a munster title and took them to all ireland final replay. Is the job open this year or is it next.....Was it not a two year term?? Given that Maurice Fitz is involved in a fledling auctioneering business in Cahirsiveen, i cant see how he d fit in time to manage the under 21s. Secondly, he has never managed any team of note....as we have learned from the past in both soccer and football, great footballers dont neccessarily make great managers.....ie Jacko se, Ronnie Whelan etc.... Paidi ....*Cough*.... Oops. Sorry

True......t'would be worse if we got a manager with no experience who was a decent player but not a great player......ala Steve Staunton.

surely Pat Driscoll of Ardfert is worthy of consideration for the minor job or even the under 21 job

Any names mentioned?? last year the u21 were in the gym all summer and trainin since november, as were the minors, so they will prob be behind schedule For the u21's ive heard John Kenedy and possibly the senior management over seeing them with sean geaney as manager - that prob wount happen they would have too much to do ive heard nothing about the minors yet

O'Shea unsure of future Oct 03, 2007 Tuesday, October 2.
Kerry's All-Ireland winning coach Pat O'Shea has revealed he's still no closer to finding out if he'll be managing the Kingdom in 2008. O'Shea led Kerry to their 35th All-Ireland last month, but his future has been subject to much speculation in the county, as he is employed full-time by the Munster Council. Permission had to be sought from the Munster Council last year before O'Shea could take on the job, and it appears certain he'll have to speak with his employers again. "We've had a lot of engagements since the All-Ireland so we haven't had a chance to sit down and decide anything concrete," he said. "Hopefully a decision will be made fairly soon, as that will give everyone a chance to assess things, and if Kerry have to look for a new manager it will allow them time to do that, but it also allows me plenty of time if I go back. "I'm quite confident I can handle both jobs, but again, I have to sit down with the provincial council and discuss things with them." O'Shea was also non-committal on reports Colm Cooper may be taking some time out from GAA soon. "Colm's name constantly comes up in relation to this, but Colm is very happy where he is, he enjoys his work situation, he's been on the road for a few years and maybe he needs a break, but he enjoys what he's doing. "It's a decision for Colm, it's an amateur game and there's nothing holding him here or stopping him, O'Shea said. "We all saw the positive effect a break had on Paul Galvin and Declan O'Sullivan, but we'll have to wait and see

Id leave John kennedy with the minors for another year or 2,would nt let him in charge of the u-21s until his son is overage for them..Someone like Pat O driscoll for the u-21s next year.

I dont think he is i have not heard it around but as a good Manager/ selector he is worth a shot, when jack stepped down he was mentioned about Nk with the pony as Jacks replacement..it would do him no harm starting out with the young guns and progressing from there
