Well done to all involved. Is it just the starting 15 or all the subs as well that can't take part next year? Good opportunity for this year's minors to play.

Great win and well done to all. I guess this will put Wallace in prime position now for the minor job!? I don't think he's the man for that job, there's a big difference between 22 yr old footballers who have been around a while & a 16 or 17yr old student . Jack was & proved to be the ideal candidate & coming from a teaching background was a major plus. Wallace seems to like to talk himself up a bit at times too.Id rather see someone or a few of the guys involved with the development squads getting the nod as they have been with these players for a few years.

I was at the game. Were Jack McGuire and Conor Cox carrying injuries into this game. For a while at the start McGuire looked quite good but then just appeared not up to it. Cox never got going. Even his basic control of the ball into him, seemed to be beyond him. I also expected more from Killian Spillane. He got a great chance to score a goal but hit it off the keeper. Granted most of last years minors did well. I thought Gavin Crowley was the Kerry player most likely to move onto senior. Overall a poor game of football and it was quite clear to see why most of the players are junior - they are not up to senior club standard. But well done Kerry. It was great to see so many small clubs represented in Croke Park and this will be great for young players back in Kerry who are starting their careers.

Can you put a poster on ignore on this type of forum? Anyone know how to do it? Press the member's name. Then press the settings 'wheel' on their profile and an option to 'Block Member' comes up. I think I beat you to it on this particular 'weapon'. Unfortunately when the posters' posts come up you have an option to 'display post' to see what drivel they came up with this time.

Congrats to all concerned.
Intermediate club all Ireland win followed up by inter county junior All Ireland in the one year wont do Wallace's CV any harm even though he is from Ardfert!

Wallace mentioned on Radio Kerry after that McGuire wasn't fully fit and it was a bit of a gamble to start him. Didn't say anything about Cox being injured/having a knock.

Remember looking at the rules for this before and from my recollection I think the wording is those who played in the final for the winning team are ineligible. So anyone who missed the final through injury or didn't come off the subs bench in the final would be eligible. I'm not 100% on this though as it was a few years back.

Killian Spillane is starting to build up a good collection of All-Ireland medals, carrying on a family tradition.

Was Jeff Donoghue injured that he didn't start?

Was Jeff Donoghue injured that he didn't start? No Wallace mentioned something in his interview about him being on holiday and missing some training as the reason he didn't start. Sounds a bit strange but just thinking back on it, I think it was something like "he had a holiday booked" so I wouldn't be too surprised if O'Donoghue had the holiday booked a while back/hadn't realised the dates of the holiday.

Article from the Examiner below - a bit caught my eye, that mentions the calibre of the Wexford team - in terms of bringing on young players, coming up against this type of opposition in competitive games is excellent stuff. www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/football/youth-policy-pays-off-for-kerry-347285.htmlAlso there could well be a future tricky trivia question along the lines of name the Kerry player who marked/played against Mattie Forde in a championship game for Kerry?
